As an irish rugby supporter I would like to say neither Joe nor Rory have to give any explanation. We have enjoyed the professionalism, wins, cups, titles, rankings and experience since Joe Schmidt arrived to take us to the next level. Semi Finals was not to be once again but it will not stop us from aiming to get there again in 4 years time. Key milestones from Joe's leadership were another Grand Slam to go with the other 6 Nations Championships, countless test match victories, finally victory over the All Blacks - not once but twice!!, and development of the players to have a lifelong belief to know we can continue to be in the top 4 teams in the world not to mention the endless brilliant memories - Go raibh míle, míle maith agaibh 🍀🏆🌎✌

Rory Best. What a gentleman, from an Englishman you are an inspiration and Ireland's achievements in the last year's should not be underestimated. A great team and a great nation.
I think Ireland's approach was how NZ approached games years ago. They focused on other games instead of the world cup. And when we (NZ) kept losing at the world cups, our focus changed to making sure we were ready for the world cup.
Frank Hippolite Humility has played a major part In the All Blacks success or transformation in recent years, better people make better players as pointed out in a documentary film about the New Zealand national team. The culture and attitude of the team has completely changed.

joe is one of the best rugby coaches of all time, and when he took charge of Leinster infamously he said he wanted to make them the best passers of the ball in europe, and job done, but he never seemed to challenge the irish national team to those same standards, they were so conservative with ball in hand he didn't trust their rugby talents that were so good they got selected to play for ireland

Keep your chin up boys, Ireland has captured the eyes of millions and I'm sure 4 years from now you'll come back even stronger. As a kiwi, when Ireland beat the All Blacks recently my emotions were mixed because they believed in themselves and I must admit, jubilant they won...no longer that 2nd tier nation. All Blacks just up the whole TEMPO 🔥!! Awesome work Ireland.. Everyone always seems to be prepared for the All Blacks based off their previous game but the All Blacks always seem to bring a whole different game 💯💪🏽
The Haka should *only* be performed in the the team's Home Country - it's totally disrespectful to a foreign host country and to the opposing team .. it's just an 'invasion' .. and isn't an "ancient tradition" wrt Nz's national team 😠
Well done to all these Kiwi Coaches here at the world cup. Japan's coach Jamie Joseph Wales coach Warren Gatland All Blacks coach Steve Hansen And this wonderful man here Joe Schmidt. Well done boys 😎🤙
@@thatellipsisguy8984 Yeah, but Australians don't play Union, they play AFL & League, so he would be coaching Islanders, Fijians, Kiwis and South Africans. A little bit like his role in Ireland.
WOW Irish 🇨🇮 - take a deep breath & appreciate how your Rugby has challenged other teams to improvement! Thank you for adding to this RWC! Here’s a concept to grow the game, suggest a South Pacific (three test) competition between Northern vs Southern Hemisphere teams held say.. every two years. To be played mid-year, hosted by Aust / NZ, with the vision that 2 - 3 teams train alongside each other (focus is on combined development of rugby). With at least one Test played across the Pacific Islands🌴 Plus involve a pool of Referees to train with the teams?
Hey “Mark from ‘Stuff’ in NZ”. Not sure if you were listening to Joe’s comments whilst you were summoning up the bottle to ask your ‘15 seconds of air time’ smugness dressed up as a tactical question. If you were listening you would of heard Joe explicitly mentioning “you don’t give the the All Blacks.....” in every reply as the contributing factors. The fact he dignified your flog of a question shows his class. As a Kiwi I was embarrassed by your poorly worded, poorly executed attempt to ask the “hard” question. However, in contrast, if you get the chance to ask Eddie Jones that exact same question nekweek (next week), knock yourself out bro.
Coming from a Kiwi, you see the differences in the feedbacks & comments from Aust press con compared to other press con. All the best to Joe & Rory. Cheika is a real joke lol
lee turton I would say the All Blacks just completely and utterly outplayed them....quite simple really. The losing side is always going to say we didn’t play well.
I really thought and hoped Ireland would win today, would of been a semi to remember, only way we will win is if we play our best and the all blacks have an off day, even then could still be tricky, although this England team do seem to be peaking at the right time
“I thought we were a little bit flat” - Hang on a minute Joe, this is a World Cup quarter final against the current champions (who you have beat twice in the past 18 months), and possibly a World Cup send off for both yourself and the likes of Best, Kearney, Sexton, and Murray etc. If these players cannot get themselves excited for that sort of occasion then there is some serious problems in the Irish camp which would give clues as to their demise from the top of the rankings over the past 12 months... Hints at serious changes needed!
I'm looking at Joe Schmidt and he looks really aged over the last two years, just wondering if the coaching gig is a young mans game as well. Understanding the pressures involved, has that job become more than it should be? Also lets face it Ireland were very poor and all their inconsistent performances from the last year have sadly come back to haunt them.
@@ardakolimsky7107 I understand what your saying and I actually didn't know he had family issues, hope he and his family are ok. I'm just commenting on what he looked like two years ago compared to now. Wondered if the job was getting naturally far too much to handle as a Head Coach and needs to be modified to take the pressure off.
A lot of kicking possession away. Kicking the ball to the AB's back 3 - especially with BB at 15 - is the strangest thing a team can do. You're just handing the gun to the intruder. A poor performance from Ireland and not one that tested the ABs. England will be a tougher proposition.
yes it wasn't an end of year tour joe ... ask the aussies and bokke what its like playing the ABs when they're fresh (apart from Perth) over the last 4 years ...
3 reasons y Ireland were never going to win, 1) like all other teams, you always look back to previous wins over the ABs, & lose sight of what's in front of you. 2) you sacrificed youth & speed for experience, you retained to many dinosaurs, old & slow , need to evolve with the ever changing game, like the ABs do. 3) you don't have a plan B .
There is a reason... "Your media must learn to NEVER! disrespect their culture and the Haka and NEVER pock the dragon because it will get angry and rip your head off which is what happened" The players were angry and they had intentions to thrash them. Your media was the the 16th player that made you lose.
In Ireland, Rugby Union is the 4th sport, after gaelic football, hurling and soccer. The country is similar in size and infrastructure with New Zeeland, but in New Zeeland, rugby is religion, that's why Ireland will always be trashed by All Blacks in important matches. There's no explanation, this coach explains probably only why they lost on such a difference.
Just excuses they put to much on the fact they beat NZ in the Autumn series, and thought they would do the same in a competitive match that actually counts for something
Hard out, media outlets rubbished my bruthaz leading up to this game. So the Irish can blame them for that. Its why the boys laid it on thick in the first half.......all over their face🤣😂🤣😂.
Trench style rugby and errors did it irish curse last 8. If Ireland had spread out the ball and kept it alive . Most teams know Johnny Sexton is the main man and will target him. I think they should change there play style like England,French, Wales did it and Ireland are left behind new Zealand and Japan play fast and don't do trench style rugby same with Australia SA do a mix. This is an Irishman saying this
Very spot-on analysis. Joe called it in the post-match interview when he talked about Ireland being a target for other teams, so everyone else had to evolve because Ireland are the best in the world at that "trench style" of rugby as you say. Ireland are much better than tonight and perhaps pressure got to the boys but they will be back. Keep your head up, from a Kiwi.
As a coach he was going for the all blacks from the start straight schooled Ireland no disrespect looked flat couldn’t keep up to there pace in all aspects of the game. How about ardie savea wins the ball runs offload to coles offloads to bridge haha try for try
Listen - I love plucky Ireland rugby! But over the last two years they were made to be best in world whilst honestly - the big nations were truly building a World Cup squad. Ie. Ireland were made to look better than they were last year and going into number 1 ranking in World when others were chopping and changing players during the build up and getting losses because of it. Ireland have a few world star players. Unfortunately not many. They built a team whilst others were building a squad - which is needed to win the World Cup. I love seeing Ireland do well ... but they don’t have a total squad. This is where Wales will fall apart as well. TOTAL squad power are NZ, SA and ENgland. Basically players interchangeable on a match day. That’s what has been going on with these three teams for two years
EloquentTaz agreed! Rory Best is a legend of rugby and hate to see his last game being one in which Ireland were just blasted. But truth is - Ireland #1 ranking going into this World Cup was a farce when previous years wins were actually against top teams using the time to build depth and trying things out. Ireland were setting in their top 15 and 23 beating “try-out” teams and combinations from overall better teams. Now that those combinations have been settled and squad depth built - and SA and NZ have basically decided upon their starting line ups for this World Cup, unfortunately Ireland look very average (again). Certainly those penalty kicks to touch didn’t help - so basic errors. But it didn’t look like Ireland were in the same league ... and that’s sad! I hope they rebuild again properly ... with depth
All the best in the future Joe and Rory true Legends of the game much respect from NZ

With at least one Test played across the Pacific Islands🌴
Plus involve a pool of Referees to train with the teams?
Respect to Ireland...next time boys
🇳🇿👍🏽
Coming from a Kiwi, you see the differences in the feedbacks & comments from Aust press con compared to other press con. All the best to Joe & Rory. Cheika is a real joke lol
We got absolutely battered as we Irish say
No one would have got near the All Blacks last night.
lee turton I would say the All Blacks just completely and utterly outplayed them....quite simple really.
He's had family issues. But I'm sure you're a beautiful man Wayne.
How old is Steve Hansen by the way.
Steve Hansen is 60, six years older than Schmidt...
@@wayneshilcock3027 Fair enough.
A lot of kicking possession away. Kicking the ball to the AB's back 3 - especially with BB at 15 - is the strangest thing a team can do. You're just handing the gun to the intruder. A poor performance from Ireland and not one that tested the ABs. England will be a tougher proposition.
Very True. They were just kicking Stupidity even when it was not on
Are you both ignoring the fact that England will... dun-dun-dahhh... kick the ball to the AB's back 3?!!
yes it wasn't an end of year tour joe ... ask the aussies and bokke what its like playing the ABs when they're fresh (apart from Perth) over the last 4 years ...
Did I see the Red Hand Of Ulster flag taken onto the field?
Did he say "yo"?
In Ireland, Rugby Union is the 4th sport, after gaelic football, hurling and soccer. The country is similar in size and infrastructure with New Zeeland, but in New Zeeland, rugby is religion, that's why Ireland will always be trashed by All Blacks in important matches. There's no explanation, this coach explains probably only why they lost on such a difference.
SOLUTIONS not EXCUSES where are all these trash talkers tough TALK now???
At the end of the day, Ireland just didn't have the cattle,
Just excuses they put to much on the fact they beat NZ in the Autumn series, and thought they would do the same in a competitive match that actually counts for something
Hard out, media outlets rubbished my bruthaz leading up to this game. So the Irish can blame them for that. Its why the boys laid it on thick in the first half.......all over their face🤣😂🤣😂.
Argentina 2007
Wales 2011
Argentina 2015
New Zealand 2019
This is starting to bug me.
That would bug me too. Didn't Nz win the 2011 rwc😂😜.
@@jirenthegray2904 good luck vs England
sean o'farrell, fair comment.
@@aerial_camera_video_imaging yep if you look back at Japan vs Ireland they could not deal with the speed style they played
It seems Ireland are not very good when not playing at home, never realised they never made a semi final at a wc.
Ireland should learn it is difficult to beat the ABs when they are wearing 3 Kiwis on the Irish Jersey
?

Oh. Ok.
Too much of the black frothy stuff. Joe is a frontrunner for the AB job. His CV took a big hit here.
That’s what has been going on with these three teams for two years
And we saw that lack of proper depth and composure from their second string team against Japan. Not the way the team deserved to exit though
I hope they rebuild again properly ... with depth
Go the All Blacks!!!
Is it just me or does he sound Irish lol. Awesome stuff Joe and Rory
