Not a fisherman, not a lawyer....But isn't this technically illegal?
Not unless they get permission. Yes technically it can be illegal to move or interfere with another boats gear but sig obviously knows the people on the other boat and he took a gamble it's not like he was saying hey get the hell out the area he was actually trying to help and it paid off in the end. We would share our gear or pull gear for other boats here on the Great lakes to help other boats achieve their quota. We use gillnets here on the Great lakes and sometimes near the end of the season a boat will be over quota because the nets are full so they will give up whatever is left in the gear to another boat to help them out. And the other boat just returns their gear to them when finished.

these guys must be new and afraid of Sig. I can't imagine most other captains on the show would be okay at all with what Sig did. In fact they would be pissed even if Sig was right. You just don't mess with other peoples crab lines without their permission. And Sig obviously just did it to benefit himself all in all where he could had been wrong and wouldn't have taken any of the risk.
Harley is a captain for a loooooong time he no rookie LOL 😂

Relax bud coming from someone who knows how the game works they borrow eachothers gear all the time. If one boat isn't able to catch their quota with their gear another boat will usually be glad to give up whatever is leftover in their gear so they themselves don't go over quota. The show just doesn't tell you that. Also what Sig did wasn't being stupid he obviously knows the guy and was just trying to help him out. It wasn't an attempt to move him away from his spot or be an asshole
He's kin to Sig, or their families are close friends. Everyone knows everyone or has at least heard of each other in that industry. Like truckers are truckers, fishermen are fishermen. Unique industries in their own right. :)

This is so scripted out it’s horrible compared to the early seasons. They def planned all this and bet the 2 empty ones to start was all made up. They needed something to use for the previews a all week. “Watch DC, as something different happens!”
You can only script so much shit you can't script the waves weather and what comes up in the pot unless you intentionally set in a spot that doesn't have the fish you're trying to get

Boats move eachothers gear all the time man happens more often than you'd think. Sometimes other boats gear will get caught up in another boats gear and if they can save it they'll just move it to somewhere nearby. It's not all deliberately done like the show portrays it to be.
