Part of the reason it seems like a lot of time has passed is that this episode was originally supposed to be later in the season. The sets and uniforms were revamped about half way through the first season and TNT wanted the new look episodes to air first, so you’re essentially watching the 2nd half of the series 1st
Yep. The suggested order is different than the original TNT broadcast order; JMS feels that this order is best from a story point of view, even though it means some visual inconsistencies in terms of unexplained costume changes. A bit of ribbing by Fiona Avery, who wrote this ep: "Fen" is sometimes (incorrectly) used as a plural for "fan", as in sci-fi fan. They're poking fun fandom: "They're barely sentient. They're attracted to bright, shiny objects, but they lose interest quickly."
Love this show! So glad you are reacting to it! 💕 *EDIT:* my guess to Galen's question of *why,* is _"Why did she have to die?"_ Perhaps a bit simplistic, but that's always been my interpretation.
Seems like you're watching the broadcast order, which is a shame as to my mind it is the weakest for flow between the episodes, but oh well (no pun intended). I think the implication is that a lot of Mr Jones are ex Psi-cop, so the BTI may be better, but still has a way to go.
