I’m quite surprised the NRM have this loco stuck in the repair workshop at the moment. It’s an important engine and would look really good next to the Sterling Single.
I've fond memories of seeing this engine in the old York railway museum in the early 70's. It was one of the bigger and more impressive engines they had in that museum.
The US liked Atlantics for a rather brief period, many of them built as balanced compounds (pre-superheating). It faded out, then, in the 30's, the Milwaukee built four streamlined monsters. Reportedly they were excellent engines. Of course none survived.
Britain's first Atlantic. The National Collection have a fair representation of East Coast express power though the ages. All they need is a HST and a 91 and they'll have a complete set! Chris is making good progress though all surviving GNR engines, all he needs to do now are the Large Atlantic and the N2. Keep up the great work, Chris!
Last time I visited the museum, this was near the gallery behind a wall; I wouldn't have seen it if some guy didn't point it out. Any chance it will move into normal museum view any time soon?
It's been ages since I commented this, and I know it's now on display again. I plan to visit the loco soon as I don't want it to be sent elsewhere before I get the chance.
I think it would’ve been nice to have a “Sole Slip” for the large-boiler C1’s that came in 1902. Would make for a nice sequel to the Klondike tender engine.
Marvelous! Love the looks of the C2s (C1s) for just all the round and smooth edges on this engine. And one more thing... What would you do for a Klondike?
There are some on display at this moment, the problem is their owners can't be bothered restoring them to operating condition... because, yeah, wheel slip's a thing with 7-foot drivers...
"ah yes my atlantic ill call you henry glad i didnt get scammed fro some stupid experimental engine" said the fat controller what he acctually said I WANTED AN ATLANTIC AND THIS BLEEP,BLEEP,BLEEP SENT ME THAT! he boombed
Man the GNR really knew how to make some nice looking engines. Too bad that they never aged that well and almost all of them were given adjustments of some kind. I'm not saying that Ivatt had to become Gresley but while I love his designs to me they aren't as timeless. Cheers Avi

Sincere Gadson Henry (Pre-flying kipper version) is the C1 with an A1 hybrid hence the 4-6-0 arrangement however the plans were stolen by Sir Nigel Gresley‘s rival but after it was built, it was a poor Steamer thus the rival sent the “Henry” to The Fat Controller who was in need of spare engines.

Would look good next to large boiler C1 251
That was nice of them. Frank latched on in the early 20s. The factory produced thousands.

*I HAVE WAITED FOR THIS DAY FOR A LONG TIME*
Wow! I really like this locomotive! It looks so elegant!
But why were they classified C2 if they came first?
what a lovely looking engine.

This locomotive really reminds me of Henry. He's even called Henry!
All aboard to information station!
As an American it surprises me that you guys have so few Atlantics. Another great vid Chris.
There's more atlantics
@@Combes_ indeed we have the lbscr h1/h2, l&yr class 7, nbr c11(reid) and the raven c7s. and some more i think. good guess tho @user-oc6rb3qp2s.
@@thepoltroon992 don’t forget the c1s
@@threepea1151 yeah but that was on the video so yeahhhhhh😁
251 should be a sole slip as well. It's another Ivatt Atlantic with a shorter funnel and a larger boiler.
Nice work.
I'd like to see either Midland Compound or GWR dean goods on Sole Slips.

Its more like henry old shape
Love this engines. What would you do for a Klondike?
Beat me to it! Your pop culture ref' skills are strong Sir!!!
"I kill you for a Klondike bar."
To hell with Canada, I'm goin' to the Klondike!
Drive a c1
I wanted a Atlantic and that _________ sent me that!
Marvelous! Love the looks of the C2s (C1s) for just all the round and smooth edges on this engine. And one more thing...
What would you do for a Klondike?
I already said that D:
I'd open up a heritage railway for ANY Gnr atlantic (C1/2)
can you do the large boiler one?
Would You Do A Sole Slip on the Highland Railway 'Jones Goods' Class, Built In 1894 They Were The First 4-6-0s Used On British Metals.
Sole slip about Lode Star? :p
Lovely engine. America has to bring back some Atlantics. Seriously.

I'll kill for PRR 7002 or 460 to run at Strasburg... all in good time!
460 has a higher tractive effort than CN 89
Indeed :)

GNR Beauty
When they finish the P2 you have to make a video on it

such a nice loco I wish some one would do a model of her...
Bachmann did make a model of her at some point, though I'm not sure if it's still in production...
@@InventorZahran I'm pretty sure that was the large boiler c1, as oppose to Henry Oakley which is a small boiler.
Chris, hello, Just a suggestion. Why not review the LNER N7’s They look like a good topic. Or even the N2s.

nice video
What about number 251
Tornado soon?
Glen77m when he can film and edit it
I have the feeling this comment section is going to be inundated with Klondike bar jokes very shortly...
Also love this episode.
......yes
Already has mate
Tedthetrain productions I'd trade 722 for a Klondike bar
a good loco for a sole S.L.I.P would be Q6 63395 once it returns to steam (i am writing this in may 2017).
GNR really had pretty engines, but I prefer his sister (Stirling Single)
What would you do for a Klondike Bar?
Old Henry but he had 6 driving wheels
My Grandad, used to drive the Henry Oakley 990
Could i possible buy the file for the shell of the locomotive off you?
Ha. Because the name Henry is in the engines name, people will make Thomas references
Calvin_is_Awesome yeahhhhh
A c1 with Henry on the side man my younger self would be twinkling in the eyes

Ok I thought when henry went to sodor his experimental design was not a real model but after this I now know
Hey this engine is Alice!
Ismael Trujillo ok first of all she's a large boiler Atlantic
Shush let ismael enjoy this
Looks like awdry got the Henry Atlantic he wanted
You know, Southern Railroad 4501 is also a sole survivor.
the small boilers are ÆÜGH
Looks like Edward Thomas's Friend
It's henry
The name is a refrence to Henry the green engine aka Henry he was a mix of a gnr c1 Atlantic and a A1 pacific.
No, it isn't.
