Nah mate 4 string is the way to go. Think to yourself did John Paul jones or Flea use a five string? All it does is make key changing easier not much else than that
Lecardor Tirus I have played bass for 4 years( and I play 4 string bass XD) and I'm not self-taught: next year, I'm going to study jazz at jazz's conservatory. But this is not important ;). I prefer a bassist that play with a five or six string who has found his style, instead of a 4 string bassist that copy another artist :).
