As a young boy in the early 90s, my dad introduced me to electronics. We played around with oscilloscopes and built little gadgets with all sorts of flashing LEDs, colorful wires and ports, analog dials, voltmeters, and the like. I had mostly forgotten about all of that until this fantastical console thing in the video vividly reminded me of it. My dad's the strict and distant east Asian type who has trouble expressing affection, and our relationship is complicated, but I'm now realizing that those projects he built with me were more than anything a sign of his love.
I love the way the song talks about the fight to keep love alive, even when it seems to be fading. Also how it focuses on the hope that things can go back to the way they were before, and on the need for a clear signal from the other person in order to move on.
