Guys, I have watched tons of videos on bending, this is some fantastic information, you should be proud of what you achieved....... I was not expecting the hex tube to break so close to the annealed area....... Bravo......
We're annealing in this video (for cracking issues, not deformation). We have other videos on mandrel bending (and alternatives). I think that is what you're thinking of.
One Question, if having to anneal 6061 T6 to prevent cracking, why not use 6063 ? as the annealing would lower the tensile strength of the 6061 T6.....or is it because 6063 is not available in hex tube? just a question from a FOG..... 'cheers, Paul by the way, I use a lot of 6061 T6 pipe....
We couldn't find the hex aluminum in any spec other than 6061-T6 which made it a necessity for us. We decided to pass on the knowledge because sometimes it can be hard to find 6063 or 6061-0 so we wanted to show people how they can make T6 work for them if no other material is available
Those is one of the best annealing/bending of aluminum on TH-cam. Great stuff!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome info to know!
And can't believe how straight it's kept the lines.
Practice makes perfect 😉
Outstanding......

Thank you for watching!
Thanks for the awesomeness,
That was satisfying to watch. But I want to see some more slow motion carnage.
watch and learn!
Yes!
You can also fill the tube with ball bearings, oil, or sand. anything that is incompressible works.

What type of aluminum are those tubes? 6061 -T6?
Yes, it is 6061-T6 made to ASTM B221-14
for 6061 2" aluminum tube would you have to anneal every bend?
Can you do anodized aluminum?
Only have to anneal if your test bends crack.
You can bend anodized. As long as it doesn't crack.
Great! Can I use Mapp?
Yes you can!
