Those children in khaki uniforms or "volunteers " as the army man put it, were NCC cadets. A voluntary national student association that works as a pre military, military styled association based out of various schools. They can be called in if needed to help with civic duties. This student body also helps military aspirants to actually join the military as well. They are not at all soldiers though. Also you met the Lion of Laddakh who is a pretty big deal and a war hero.

@Indian Patriot LOL... Freddy Mercury did not hate Indians. He just didn't want to be identified as an Indian. Self-loathing has been very common in people of Indian descent who were exposed to European cultures as Freddy was. Self-loathing happens when they feel belittled by their colonizers and the effect can be multi-generational. Sad but true.
India has been shining brightly in the recent years. So, a lot more Indians are proud of who they are compared to decades ago. Jai Bharat!

Day for remembering the one who didn’t return their home, sacrificed their life for the coming generation so that we can live in free India
It’s not a one day on month or one year process, it’s a 1000 years struggle (800 Mughals 200 British)
You said we are very patriotic, yes this is the only thing which brought us here, democracy after 1000 years.
Blessed to born in this pious land 🇮🇳

I am not sure if Pierre realizes he is in the presence of the legend himself Col. Sonam Wangchuk MVC when the officials photos are being taken. And he speaks to THE LION OF LADAKH too. I guess legendary people like Col. Wangchuk and his wife Mrs. Padma Angmo are so humble in their nature that their reputation precedes but their presence in rarely felt. BIG SALUTE to THE LION OF LADAKH ! And BIG SALUTE to Padma ma'am for winning our hearts with that reply ' We are all important on this day. ". Few words maximum impact.

you should go visit Bodh Gaya, Nalanda and Rajgir along side Pawapuri, Bodh Gaya as it is the center of Buddhism, Nalanda as it was the first university of the medieval world which was burnt and the library was so big that it burnt for a few months. Rajgir and Pawapuri as it also the center for Jainism and Buddhism.

Its been 75 years since our independence so it was a special one. Our nation is in a certain level of evolution and there is alot to be done for 1.34 billion people. Patriotism is the mean by which we can get a lot of things done quickly so it's important. It's not in competition with other countries but to bring out as much people out of poverty as we can and grow as a nation. Jai hind
