    No anti seize, just torque with clean threads?

    Do you have to remove anything from the bolt to do this properly like you do on a savage?

    Do you make target barrels for Ruger American 22 LR ? I recently purchased a Ruger American 22 LR Long Range Target rifle. Shoots great out to 200 meters for a factory stock rifle. However, I would like a competition target barrel for my rifle.

    Can I send you the a Tikka T3 30-06 action/barrel for a rebarreling to 280AI setup for the heavy bullets (26" 1:8) 190gr LRHT?

    What can you adjust if the bolt closes with the no-go gauge? Or similarly to adjust the headspace to match your formed brass from the previous barrel?

    • @ExF1Guy
      @ExF1Guy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could turn some material off of the barrel shoulder or action face to reduce headspace. As far as lengthening it, the only options I see are to deepen the bolt face, or re-ream the chamber.

    • @bobbygetsbanned6049
      @bobbygetsbanned6049 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, unless you have a lathe. That's why if you don't have a custom action you should use a barrel with a barrel nut so you can adjust it rather than a shouldered barrel.

    Can you guys produce a barrel that are two pieces? That way we can turn a 18" or 20" into a 24" or 26".

    How hard is it to get a factory tikka barrel off the action I’ve heard you can’t without a relief cut but what if I want to keep that barrel as well

  • @dannydivine7699
    @dannydivine7699 ปีที่แล้ว

    Since you mentioned "THE CORRECT INSERT" which one are you using, I have been holding off ordering a barrel until I figure out where to get a 1.230" insert, since if I'm reading YOUR website correctly that's the shank size on a taperless barrel, and I have not found a correctly sized insert in anybody's list, either for my existing browells vice or SAC's line???

  • @br4713

    Hi, I have a question about barrel replacement on Tikkas. On these rifles the barrel is tightened to the action very hard, last time my gunsmith had to cut the shoulder on the barrel to remove the pressure on the treads. How do you do remove the factory barrel of your Tikkas ???

    • @tomx7889
      @tomx7889 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would like to know the same. Maybe Preferred Barrel Blanks should do a barrel removal video on a virgin Tikka action.

    • @br4713
      @br4713 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tomx7889 Hi tom, I've read many things on internet about this problem. It seems that without using the "cut relief" method and applying too much torque, that is so tightened that some people have broken some threads and ruined their barrel and action both 😲. After making a "cut relief", removing the barrel becomes easy most of the time so that's I think it's the best solution if you wanna save your receiver.

      Using leverage to your advantage and a multi-ton press helps ;) We can separate them without heating them or damage to either items. We sell more barrels for Tikka than anything else, their quality is top notch.

    I’ve always heard you should put anti seize or some sort of grease on the threads. Do you guys not recommend that practice?

    • @blacksand9805
      @blacksand9805 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some lithium grease works fine

    • @FourT6and22
      @FourT6and22 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@blacksand9805 Anything on the threads will affect torque specs, though. Just be aware.

    • @blacksand9805
      @blacksand9805 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FourT6and22 I have tightened many barrels, I just "feel" when it's snug. You don't need to tighten it too much if your rifling is clockwise. Just because the more you fire, the more it tightens (barrel reaction to the bullet spin). Grease will avoid galling the threads especially useful with stainless steel.

    • @FourT6and22
      @FourT6and22 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@blacksand9805 Cool. But nothing to do with what I said. If you are torquing something... anything... to a specific spec, the use of any grease, thread lock, or anti-seize will change the torque on the fastener. Just something to be aware of.

      A 'Blueprinted' action is another term used and if your R700 has had that work done, you'd need to account for it on the barrel side as well. It is an option under the Remage prefit!

    Does this mean you can just swap t3 barrels back and forth without headspace issues?
    I don't see fixed shoulder prefits made for savage, remington, etc due to headspace issues.
