As an owner of a V10 M6.... I took take care of all common issues as soon as I bought it. I love the car! Ok I'll pay a little more not to drive the same car as everyone else on the road

My Viper needs gas every 100-125 miles. 150 miles on a tank? I would be bragging!
My Viper will almost hit 20MPG if I drive it nice on the highway. If I drive it with my foot down, that 100 miles is quite accurate

Just have deep pockets and a high pain tolerance. It is a 100k car you’re buying for 10% or less of its original price, maintenance doesn’t scale down with depreciation
Take 20 grand and bin it. You’ll save yourself time and headaches.

No one’s saying they’re garbage, its a very high strung high performance motor its not made to last 100,000 miles. Yours might break tomorrow, and it might go forever. Nobody knows. The statistical norm is that you’ll have failure, theres always one guy in the comments that has 400,000 miles and only changed the oil

I’ll highly doubt that Top Gear UK outsourced their cheap cars for the challenges and I can 100% guarantee that there is absolutely no way that they have multiples of each car because the damage on each one is consistent throughout the entire episode every time. I would believe that Top Gear USA did that because that show is so disengenuine it’s almost laughable

So the M6 wasn't killed off then haha, honestly they are wonderful cars to drive, I love mine. But the range is slightly frustrating. 150-200 miles is about average if it doesn't live on a track or in a city.

Have to disagree that a CL65 is not a supercar. A refined one, yes but a supercar nonetheless. Over 100k initially. V12. Turbocharged. Checks a few of the supercar boxes for most people.
So glad car trek is a “thing”. It’s closer to the soul of what Top Gear was with the boys when I see it.
We never knew the punishment this car had in its future when we sold it to Ed, but it is living an interested life now. Best sounding car in that challenge and still drove back home after the punishment. Good times.

This is their formula, as is for many commentary channels. It's odd making eye contact the whole time so they always look past you or to the side of you.

Car Trek: Behind the Scenes. Love it.
BMW runs a crank bearing clearance that's about half the standard (1 thou per inch of journal), so cold oil doesn't flow properly and they wear until the oil heats up. Swap to aftermarket ones with standard clearance and the problem goes away.
Smart move having Jared a super mechanic with a get it done work ethic.
So even though Car Trek is basically a Top Gear copy (which I'm fine with) it sounds like this is actually less staged than Top Gear. The fact that the breakdowns are real and not staged makes it feel more authentic. But hey that's just my opinion on it.

It's a luxury hot rod. A super car requires some form of aero and some exclusivity.

Honestly, Car Trek is BETTER than the new version of Top Gear. The chemistry you guys have is as good as Clarkson/May/Hammond, and there is a genuine quality that is lacking in The Grand Tour. Really, the best thing going.

i was with the filming of a few episodes of top gear and I can tell you not all the failures are planned, on the later series they hired a terrible company in birmingham to buy vehicles for challenges, collect them, make sure they were legal etc
the company was actually a vehicle recyclers and the quality of the cars were garbage
one constantly overheated and they kept adding more and more water because they were so stupid they never spotted it pouring all over the floor as they put it in, a core plug was completely missing and that was before filming had started
The BMW was truly a good laugh

Because they make fantastic cars for the extent of the warranty, or 40k miles, whichever comes first. Also, when they get it right, they get it mostly right. Sometimes.

@@AdamIsUrqed I'll take it. Short-term fun can be worth it, but not in a straight-road and flat state like where I reside now. My buddies who had bought BMW's realized that the only benefit to them, here, was that one got to buy really expensive sport tires on a regular basis for commuting on the most boring roads possible. To most, that only takes one car to realize their folly. Might as well go for reliability and comfort when the roads are as packed as they get in this state.
Good to know I can cook on my car as long as it's coated with Avalon King paint protector and non stick coating.
