I saw her play this song in Sydney the crowd fell dead silent throught the song and erupted in applause right after it was one of the most beautiful songs I've ever hears someone preform.
Joni Mitchell is an absolute goddess, and I never thought I'd ever hear anybody do justice to any of her songs, let along surpass one with a cover, but I think this one just did it. Unbelievable!
I love her, Diana. She conveys.. deeply conveys.. Love IS to be taken seriously... to be whispered softly.. and with the depths of, pensive, sensual, utter passion. Nothing boring about that mate!
What God bestowed so much beauty and talent on this one human being? Her talent brings tears to my eyes...and to those saying speed up the tempo..forget it. She obviously appreciates the song and it has meaning for her, besides the Canada connection. Not everthing in this world has to be faster, she knows what she's doing.
This song grew a lot of importance to me a few years ago when someone very close to me (VERY close!) picked up and moved to Canada from the US, and I found that between the 3 versions of this song I've heard (Joni Mitchel, Tori Amos, and Diana Krall) this version really brought out that sense of desperation and longing that give this song new meaning to me.
This gives me chills. A song by of Canada's greatest poet's sung by one of our greatest singers... and maybe more so because I'm a painter whose been living in a box of paints in Canada for years. ( :
One of my favorites from the 70's and again...is on my short list to upload a cover. Just wish I could deliver it like Diana. Such a talent she is. Thanks. Pamela
Voilà pourquoi, je l'aime, voix envoutante, dextérité de jeu, elle a tout pour elle et tant mieux, elle n'en est que plus captivante. J'en redemande encore et toujours. Merci.
I saw her perform this on Sundance, and then it accompanied a contemporary dance piece last week on tv; her voice is subtle yet evokes such emotion. Beautiful.
great. I thought this song was connected for life with the old destructive way of loving I used to do. Now, this version is a gift. I can listen to these wonderful lyrics again and connect them with new memories and a new much more mature way of loving I found. But maybe "I really don't know love at all"? - I have my whole life to learn more...
I just caught this concert on Ovation Channel and turned the channel right when she was walking on stage to sing this song. WOW! I was blown away by this song. Amazing!
NO charisma?? NO passion?? What is wrong with those of you who say that? She allows the song - the sentiment - to drive her performance naturally and perfectly. It's a love song - and it doesn't have to be shouted or sung with chest thumping and histrionics. It's her silence, the quiet pauses, the unique melodic phrasing that makes this unforced delivery feel like a heartbeat, a sweet homage to love and oh, so beautiful. She pays ultimate respect to Joni Mitchell and does her proud.
I saw her perform this in San Francisco many years ago and you could have heard a pin drop in the auditorium. It was the most beautiful and moving renditions I had heard in a long time.
I love Joni, but this version is the one that makes me cry. It makes me cry over a long gone man and our life...maybe it's the simplicity of Diana and just her piano, who knows...music touches everyone differently - it's the interpretation that knocks us over. That and the moment that we are hearing it in.
to speak like Joni: its like going out on a date with someone new after 20 years of holding the same hand. This version is something new to feel out. :) I like it ALOT!
she takes one of the VERY best songs ever written and I think takes it to a higher level. Did not think that was possible-- But listen how she quickly talk/sings I Met a Woman who had a mouth like yours-- listen to her stretching Stay with him if you Can-n-n and Be prepared to Ble-e-e-e-d! A warning and conveying of what this relationship gave her and unforgettable price she paid. She has a version where STAY WITH HIM IF YOU CAN gets even more emphasis. She could have done this at Joni tribute but I feel she wanted focus on Joni where it belonged. This is as good as it gets and I am 81 and have heard them all. Brava!!!
This is the first time I've heard this singer and the first time I've heard anyone make an attempt to sing this song. I won't/can't say that I like this better than Joni Mitchell because Joni Mitchell is one of the greatest singer/songwriters that ever walked the earth... but I do like this arrangement alot. Its fresh, its creative and personal.
just the line "you are in my blood like holy wine you taste so bitter and so sweet" is worth the price of admission. great job. sorry eynarueda its your loss.
You wouldn't think that a whispy little blond female could bring tears singing about Canada. I'm not even Canadian. Excuse me while I find the roll of Mr. Brawney.
I heard Diana Krall sing A Case Of You at a live concert once. At the time I didn't like it. I remember feeling it didn't do the song justice, but watching this video has changed my mind. Although Diana does not make the melody soar like Joni she brings great heart and soul to this performance! The song has taken on deep and personal meaning for DK.
This is cool. She takes a beautiful song from one of the great songwriters of the 20th Century and just gives such a beautiful rendition ot it. This was an awesome special; I wonder if it is floating around on DVD. I'd like track it down to watch Sweet Honey in the Rock's rendition of "The Circle Game."
She first did this song on a tribute show to Joni and it was an amazing performance...I wish I could find a version of that show. This is a great interpation of this song... Joni's version was and is great but Diana has made thhis song her own.
It's always difficult to do a cover of a well know song particularly by an incredible singer songwriter like Joni. I think Dianna does an excellent interpretation...probably the best anywhere. Dianna sings like wrote it, lived it.
Beautiful, her voice is breathtaking, both Joni Mitchell and Diana Krall have beautiful voices. Generally cover versions screw up the original, but this one was very classy and , and.... original.
I absolutely agree with cigarzan(2 weeks ago) Stunning and perfect genius yet tasteful use of HER thing, the grand piano combined with voice. I LOVE this!
@bigwaphil So powerful!! This song is so amazing. Written by Joni Mitchel sung by Diana Krall. I'm also blessed to have this song in my life. Love Diana.
the only way to truly admire this piece is to actually rent or buy the live dvd. youtube isnt that great for sound. all of her songs are amazing and nothing is corrected by machines or anything. talent like that is found rarely. its amazing to come across an artist who sounds perfect live. And she's amazing at the keys. Just her and the piano is amazing! if either she hits the wrong note with her finger or her voice, everyone would know.
Sublime !! - I'm sure Joni approves too! I agree with all previous positive comments. 96 million view of Lady Gaga rubbish, - they don't know what they are missing. Thanks for posting this masterpiece Elbioubiou
Oh My Canadian Love.. I remember the time I told you love is touching souls & we Shorely have achieved that. I love that part of me pours ottawa your lines from time to time. Drinking in all the beauty of this gem that reminds you of Your Lady♥ I love you, Robbie♥ Paula
ohhh phddd, such is the illusion of youth that you feel compelled to proclaim against the legends you will never become let alone understand. Krall or Mitchell, either or, they both sing back the pictures in our minds that we foolishly believe were ours all along. ..chill out dude..or as my generation use to say..just be cool. I'm 63 and loving it.
It seems fitting: one Canadian musical goddess paying tribute to another. Sublime.
God is she good. I never had the opportunity to hear her. I am a fan forever. I can't wait to hear more. How deep and soulful. Just beautiful.
I don't consider myself a Diana Krall fan...until NOW! What a beautiful tribute to Joni.
I have loved this song and her performance to no end...beautiful!!!
I so enjoy listening to her. When she plays, she's writing - you can hear the emotion in the playing as much as in her voice.
"I am scared of the devil
but drawn to those who aint afraid"
This is so beautiful. I love Diana's version of this wonderful song.
i think its one of the best cover version. She sang the song from her heart and meant every word in the lyric.
Heavenly. Diana, every time I listen to your voice and music wherever I am you just make my day. Out of this world artistic beauty.
This is one of my favorite songs by her and one of my favorite songs of all time!
Simple, pure, honest and graceful.
Great song, great cover in the presence of the writer and of her parents.
Thank you Joni, Diana...
I love her, Diana. She conveys.. deeply conveys.. Love IS to be taken seriously... to be whispered softly.. and with the depths of, pensive, sensual, utter passion. Nothing boring about that mate!
One of the 20th century's best songs, beautifully covered

she makes this song so speical it's uplifting to know we have such a great artist just north of USA
totally wonderful - love her depth, understatement, use of space, subtlety,
Absolutely the best. I'm male and I cried when I first heard this - for real.
This gives me chills. A song by of Canada's greatest poet's sung by one of our greatest singers...
and maybe more so because I'm a painter whose been living in a box of paints in Canada for years.

She's perfect!
The voice, sliding his fingers on the piano ... ours, it is simply great!
^^
yes.....why not let us discover music and artists? Glad to see this back at TH-cam. SMILES
BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL, Diana
One of my favorites from the 70's and again...is on my short list to upload a cover. Just wish I could deliver it like Diana. Such a talent she is. Thanks.
Pamela
always amazing....never has to over due it....her voice is awesome on its own ....
her parents must be so proud..bravo for them for raising her into such a great woman and bravo for her, for she pays them back with love and respect
Merci.

truly a tribute...a very, very special lady
as was joni...........
Elvis, yo' a lucky man
I cried when I first heard this. God. This is gorgeous.
Amazing! A very touching version of this classic!
Perfect musical moments !!! touching, breathtaking so emotional, inspirational and bright...
D's phraseology, timbre and command of time is simply genius.
I saw her perform this in San Francisco many years ago and you could have heard a pin drop in the auditorium. It was the most beautiful and moving renditions I had heard in a long time.

Joni is the one and only, however this makes the song new again for me. Beautiful interpretation.

It's always difficult to do a cover of a well know song particularly by an incredible singer songwriter like Joni. I think Dianna does an excellent interpretation...probably the best anywhere. Dianna sings like wrote it, lived it.
Essa versao eu vi ao vivo aqui em Sao Paulo. Sem palavras pra descrever tamanha emocao e competencia musical.
Beautiful, her voice is breathtaking, both Joni Mitchell and Diana Krall have beautiful voices. Generally cover versions screw up the original, but this one was very classy and , and.... original.
