Heads up that I’ll be in NSW from December 4th to 8th for home inspections. We've got limited spots available, so if you’re interested, make sure to get in touch. Booking starts next Monday (November 6th) - drop us a line at info@siteinspections.com.au to secure your slot. Until then, stay compliant 😎!
Bro I'm going to need you when i start my build next year in syd south west. 🙂
@JohnSmith-ko4ob Apologies for the confusion. Our quotes are based on capacity and job specifics. If we can't fit it in, we may not quote. Sorry for any inconvenience and thanks for your interest.
What’s your email address? The team will look into it ☺️
Any trips to Canberra? Lots of shoddy non-compliance
hey, want to take a look at a commercial property while passing through? Just walk by the building and take a look from only the outside?
Hey there brother do you do Queensland one as well in particular the Brisbane region
Unbelievable that a tick tock TH-camr is showing what a government department SHOULD be doing! Keep up the good work, and stay safe when your on the roof.
The government doesn't give a fuck about us. They will collect our taxes though.
Amen & Amen 🙏🏻
💯 I've been wondering about this for the past 2 decades.
So why do big government supporters still think that the government can organise all things efficiently when it is a fact that the government stuffs up 95% of the time? Are you that insecure that you need a bunch of faceless bureaucrats to look after your life?
He’s not just a tick tock TH-camr he’s a qualified building inspector most likely has his diploma in building and construction
Stoked to hear that these grubs certifying garbage homes are starting to get punished. Good work mate.
Im a carpenter for a small family business, we do everything by the book, stuff takes longer and cost more than the rough as guts production crews but its done once and done right.
The building inspector that checks our work doesnt even look at anything. If we had missed a few things or taken shortcuts, they wouldnt know or care.. luckily I take pride in my work.
Yeah exactly, the Certifier is equally responsible.
@@kizzjd9578 our motto when I apprenticed was "Do it once. Do it well." These certifiers and builders should be facing criminal charges, that would prevent a lot of these fly by nighters.
I wonder how many of them are quietly taking some "bakshish" behind the scenes to do "light" inspections
@@karmatraining the brown paper bag?
I am currently paying off an apartment in Sydneys West and plan on eventually buying a house down in Tasmania to settle down and this guy is the guy I would fly down to check a home. This guy is an absolute weapon of an inspector.
Looking at doing the same when I move back to Aus from NZ
There are plenty of good independent building inspectors around. Tic Toc here is simply marketing himself with these revealing videos which is a good thing because AT LEAST the viewers can get SOME idea of what to look for themselves.
TASSY builders are top material mate, come on down expect a great quality build in hobart area and souroundings
Yeh ex tasmanian here great move have a look at burnie its amazing prices huge waterviews nice solid homes 500k
You want to focus on getting tradespeople who'll just do it right ...too late when it's inspection time
As a builder myself, I love this guy. I can't remember how many jobs I've lost to underquoting from builders that do a half ass job. Not only on quality of building but safety as well. A couple of 45x90's as scaffolding. I get angry thinking about it again.
feel for you mate but this shit will continue as the penalty isn't severe enough
The governments fault on not teaching people or having something in place to avoid people getting screwed up
Be proud of your work. Keep it up. My 2 sons are building, 3rd year and 1st year. Both of them refuse to do shoddy work. My eldest has quit numerous employers because he doesn't want to be associated with the 'work'.
@@Mac1Eleventhat's why work should be signed off. The guy signing off complete works didn't do his job
If only a high price guaranteed a quality job.
5:19 We can hear the compassion so clearly in your voice. Clearly you give a crap about the consumer and I'm glad people like you are out there protecting us!
I was warned about this certifier seven years ago when I first started working in architecture in Sutherland Shire. He had many nicknames but he was referred to as 'Drive-By-Paul' by my old boss. A client of mine, who is also a builder, calls him 'Tick 'n Flick'. Good to hear he's finally been punished properly.
@@superthevibe Sure is. I've been told he knows his stuff, he's just lazy. He probably turns up to inspections in a nice pair of shoes and neatly pressed trousers. Certainly not the clothes you'd wear to get up and down ladders and crawl around under floors. A lazy certifier allows everybody to take it easy, including designers and architects. The building industry can be very incestuous, designers like working with certain builders, builders like working with certain sub-contractors, etc. It allows for a level of familiarity and routine, but this can often lead to complacency and then downright laziness. This guy survived so long because there were plenty of designers and builders who liked working with him. He made their job easier.
@polyphemus on the money!
If he's the one I'm thinking of, he's got a very interesting record.
How many fake certifications over those 7 years? 4 per day? 8 per day if he’s tick n flick!?
Site inspections are a fair dinkum company worth the price for finding out everything you. Eed to know
The two dislikes must be the builder and certifier 🤣

How do I display the "dislikes"?

6 years isn't enough. Should be lifetime ban.
Absolutely. Much more than I expected though.
If I lost my fire inspect and test licence I would be out for the count.. Six years would mean Ill be back on the tools till I'm 80 years old.
In addition to a lifetime ban, because they obviously have flawed characters and unlikely to ever change, they should also get prison time!
Would love to see Victoria get their ass into gear, can’t let NSW beat us! Comon!!!
Great work to keep the bastards honest.
For those who clicked on the NSW Fair Trading link that @Site Inspections provided, you will note that Paul Gearin the Certifier who got suspended, had been reprimanded multiple times over the years.
I have spent over 20 years in commissioning and sadly none of this surprises me. My favourite saying was always: if you did your job, I wouldn’t have a job
Maybe you should not have that Job in 20 years the work has gotten worse maybe you are not doing your Job
@@Karl-Benny lmao nice try. Blame the inspector for the person who is lazy, cutting corners, substituting materials etc. I must have generated millions of punch items in my career but I was big construction, not housing. Similar job but different 🙂
Mate, ever thought of becoming the Building Commissioner? Well you should. Hopefully you have a team involved with you. You are a deadset hero. We need blokes like you big time. Thanks for helping the small guys…👍
I nearly fell off my chair when you said NSW fair trading was going after the builder, excellent!
Agencies worldwide: "We can't use cameras to keep our staff accountable, it's impossible!!!"
Meanwhile, youtubers: "Hey guys, I'm gonna go ahead and record every step I take during this job and upload it to a site where it can be judged by the general public as well as by the people I'm working for"
Fair trading should be your number 1 subscriber. Great to see they have stepped up. Good work mate.
You're an absolute legend mate . Australian of the year material!
Im so sick of bodgy workers especially when most people spend their entire lives paying their house off
What a schmozzle I feel for a lot of the owners of the houses I work on, So many builders who dont give AF. Well done
Thank MR TIK TOK … for updating…. It’s well overdue that someone stepped up to the plate about these builders!!!!
Let’s hope Victoria even though we are a joke down here they should at least care that the people supposed to care about safety do their job. Keep up the good work.
Pity the Australian consumer. Well done to the "Tik Tok Inspector". More power to you.
Awesome work sir! The incompetence is staggering in its enormity. It’s just can’t be that hard to deliver a quality product anymore. I’m sure there are good builders but crikey it does seem like a struggle.
They do exist, I've worked for them. This guy would be hard pressed to find something.
There are plenty of very competent tradesman! The problem is, who is willing to pay for them?
I honestly don't think it is incompetence as much as it is just not giving a f%$k and getting paid. Care factors are zero for these as$holes as long as they make a few grand.
I'm far from being a building "tradie", but I am a chef and cheesmaker and if my profession worked the same way, people would die within days.
@@benkingston5315 and the best comment award that needs to be copy and pasted on to every one off these videos goes to YOU .. 💯 true brother
there is plenty. They cost a premium and the difference can be alot of money the same home can be 10's of thousands more if not even more. I got out of the carpentry game because of this rates haven't really recovered since the GFC for carpentry and the demands on time have gotten worse making it harder and harder for a good tradesmen to make a decent living because it just doesn't have the money in it to spend time doing a proper job
Awesome job, like always.
It is really important what you are doing with your inspections!
Keep going bro
Wish you were around when I was building with Porter Davis in 18/19! I picked up on more defects than the inspection company I used. And I’m sure there was plenty more missed as I’m not a building professional. I can’t wait till there’s a royal commission into the building industry - I’d love to give evidence of the crap I went through to get my home built.
Royal Commission...can't come soon enough!
Will never happen. It would bring into question our massive population growth.
Mate you are a bloody LEGEND, the amount of families getting screwed over by shonky builders, thank god theres blokes like yourself that hold these buggers to account.
I hope NSW dept does an audit on both guys previous buildings ... Especially where the 2 have teamed up
Odds will be all non compliant.
Awesome guy. update inspection on this schmozzle is on the house
I’m loving the follow up updates. Great work!!!
the VBA is absolutely useless, i had a shopping list of serious non-compliances i had to grind my way for years on my own all the way up until a week before a VCAT hearing until the builder agreed to pay the $100k bill we gave them for others to complete the works. You can highlight as much dangerous non-compliant items to the VBA and theyll find any reason to ignore it. We even got recommended by professional bodies to not even bother wasting your time with the VBA
That's really good to hear some reached out with authority to move forward. I hope this example of how to govern is contagious ❤
Thank you for exposing this to make it a good industry in the future
It's more industry regulation, than governing, but yeah.
750K!! for a low quality product like this. I guess it is just meaningless monopoly money if you don't have to earn it yourself...
You are my most favorite tic toc inspector :) Keep up the amazing work! Thank you for being vocal and making sure the right things are done. My prayers to the stressed out home owners.
So our millions in taxes and overpaid staff allow non-compliance but a single person on TH-cam has an impact 🤔
You almost need a site inspector of your caliber onsite during the entire construction process so these lazy short cuts are caught before and not after. It'll keep the industry honest.
I love this channel.
I'm a commercial house painter and I see this and more all the time , I've been removed/ fired from a few sites by the builders because I refused to cover up their crap work.
Absolute cowboys , I tell people all the time and they call me a liar
Take photos and video of the shoddy stuff then they will believe it. But you risk your life with certain builders.
Builds these days are horrifying....glad you uploading these.
Put the builder and certifier in jail. What they have done or not done is criminal and an example needs to be set to improve industry standards. If the local and state government are not upholding compliance of building standards the industry is not worth our investment.
I feel so much better for buying a home built 25 years ago. Seems like this housing crisis is going to drive both build times and quality further down
Brilliant work by you! and props does go to NSW Fair Trading for actually actioning it based on your intelligence
Fair trading are making sure they appear to be doing something. Given what we are shown in other videos of neighbours gutters being non-compliant we can safely assume that the majority of builds are non-compliant in NSW. Fair trading appear to be doing something when they talk to Site Inspections but the reality is this is almost meaningless and merely PR on their part.
@@joel6376 if you're as underfunded as they are, you do have to pick your battles. Definitely enough wrong in this home to kill the contract, while at least with other homes visited, there's been an attempted by the builder to rectify
@@svict4Fairtrading are underfunded?
"The builder's certifier has been suspended as well, for six years, I feel sorry for the guy" I don't
Yep exactly..don’t certify this absolute crap and it won’t come back to bite you on the ass
Meanwhile in Victoria, VBA is NOWHERE TO BE SEEN.
What you said about the VBA is spot on. Honestly the whole thing needs to be rehauled completely
VBA are either useless or corrupt.
Great work, one less grub working in the certification field. Let's see if NSW fair trading clamp down on all the other NSW inspections you do.
learning alot from your videos, thanks for sharing a lot of this information that i think is crucial for anyone wanting to build their home in australia
WOW - this is terrible...!
I feel so bad for the home owners... Price is what you pay, Value is what you get... With construction costs skyrocketing and home owners trying to get the best deal for themselves are they shortcutting their research? Always Always Always check the last 10 sites your builder has completed prior to engaging them.
Good work mate. Needs to be more of this type of thing to stop this type of dodgy stuff from happening. People need to be held accountable.
That certifier oversaw my neighbour down the roads duplex, horrific build. Was a different builder but they had their licence cancelled too for a string of bad builds...
Wish VBA was more proactive. Victoria really seems to be suffering with more builders cost cutting over quality work.
Plaster screws are the duct tape of the screw world
There sure be a data base, to all the horrible builders that commit this crime. and of lazy or corrupt certifiers. Well done for exposing them on us. and shinning light on what happening to our building industry. I hope our Govt Department take notice and protect home owners who spending so much $$$ to build their home. Should be illegal for building company to add clause on contracts that restrict the home owners to expose them in social media if they deliver such a horrible job and unsafe homes.
Great update. Your passion and enthusiasm for what you do really show and that's great to see. Good to have someone of your caliber on our side.
Think you need to make a network of approved inspectors that meet your standards that people can use.
Love your work mate. You must have 24/7 bodygiards as these crooks would not be happy with you exposing them.
I like you and what you are doing.
Congrats.
I had to like and subscribe.
Didn't want to be non compliant.
Thank you ☺️❤️
Sorry man but your now and forever more The Tic Tok Inspector, it's a badge of honour man wear it proudly I salute you.
NSW Building Commissioner needs to start looking into this. Someone forward this to him.
Asking the VBA to be proactive…??! 😂😂
Dear Tik Tok Inspector, I hadn’t realised you’re also a master of dry comedy.
😅❤️
I love this, the only way a change will happen is if building inspectors are held accountable for the decisions they make. In turn if they do their jobs properly it will be a headache for the builders and they will lift their game.
Well done!
I couldn’t believe the state of that house. It was disgraceful, props to you for helping your fellow citizen I hope they get their house fixed or rebuilt to a safe standard to live in.
I hope more government departments who are in the building game and are responsible around Australia start doing there job, Good on you for at least getting something to happen, it’s about time builders and inspectors are held responsible, great work. Thankyou,
Private building inspectors need customers, so will look over the issues or not look at all so they can get to their next inspection. When it was done by government, it didn't bother them if they had 1 or 10 or 100 inspections to do, they still got paid. Not saying thats the answer, but you would think a 2nd eyeball on every 25 inspections or something to ensure they are actually doing a good job. How many bad builds has this inspector let through...?
Again - your incredibly detailed assessment proves to be on point. Well done - you are the gold standard of Buiding Inspectors
Dont get swayed just by the vids. There are many good inspectors out there that dont go round making videos.
No doubt.
Excellent work Sir and it's gathered the momentum needed (in NSW at least it seems) for the government bodies responsible to start getting out from the comfort of being behind emails and to actually pull their fingers out to do their bloody jobs! Ensure the standards are being applied and applied correctly, those responsible are held accountable when that doesn't happen. The VBA are absolutely derelict in their duty to the Victorian public and honestly, they all need to be sacked OR show cause why they should be maintained as an authority! Shame these lazy bureaucrats by exposing the ongoing failures in the industry they are responsible for regulating!
Considering the BILLIONS of dollars received by state governments from property related taxes, why isn’t there a ACTIVE regulatory department with resources to avoid this happening to poor families 🤷♂️
The fire sprinklers look done so far cover plates installed if those are concealers,
To be fair there are over 1000s new builds that need your inspection services
While that may be true, being over run with work is no excuse for cutting corners and taking shortcuts with a "she'll be right " attitude The inspectors should be delaying inspections and forcing the government to employ more of them. Its not like work is going to drop off any time soon. Especially when the largest financial investment people will ever make is involved, we are talking close to a million if not more for most houses now days. The government also should step in and make these certifiers maintain their qualifications and have some sort of competency assurance program. I work for an agency in NSW with the government that has hundreds of thousands of people's lives in my hands every day and I have to pass competency testing every 2 years. these guys potentially ruin lives with shonky practices.
That said the sh*t flows downhill to the builder who if they did their damn job properly the certifier would not have such a hard time and not try to cut corners.
The building quality is shocking.....like pissing in the wind for these guys......my house was built in 92.......not even 1 leak or issue......the issue is that these houses aren't built to last on purpose
Thanks for making more videos. Hopefully victoria will up their game.
Absolute champion, so far great outcome, unfortunately more to go for the owners
Why feel sorry for these unethical people, so he got banned 6 years, he should be in prison for 6 years, for destroying good innocent people's lives.
You have gone to the next level .you have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt poor workings poor building companies and exposed Victoria's building industry inspectors .great work on educating and exposing deplorable building works .keep up your great work .
Proud. Love and respect from Brisbane
Please keep us updated on this job! I want to find out what the end result is. I'm invested. I live in NSW and am potentially looking at getting new builds done here and in WA and this is what scares me.
go with a builder in wa thats been doing it for decades like summit. better chance but still inspect
Great stuff, great result, bodgy certifiers should be banned for life. It would be great if all your inspections were acted on. It's apparent that some builders do not know or don't want to know the National Construction Code (NCC), if you stick to the code there are no worries. Well done keep up the good work.

Excelent work for raising the red flags and finally getting attention from the government ,You are bringing hope back into the resident building industry ,Good on you mate for doing gr8 work ,The house must be near the beach looking at the soil i have noticed !!
Finished my time in the construction industry 5 years ago after being in it for 45 years. What I saw done by people who think their tradespeople was mind boggling. People paying for rubbish work. Then there’s you bro who is clearly fair dinkum👍. Thanks for the vid🙂
The beauty of this one builder being held to account is that it will make others pick up their game. Good work, good to see.
Was that a smoke alarm installed in a Dead Zone I saw?
love your work , your the best
well done!!
"feel sorry for certifier" stuff him him, of he had done his job properly he wouldn't be in the position he's found himself in now, how many other houses has he had a hand in to destroy.
For the building certifier. This is what happens when you f**k around.... you find out. Do your damn job people.
1:55 Looks like the bin is filled 100-150mm above the rim. It needs to be under the rim, so it's NON-COMPLIANT.
That is just the stuff you can see... imagine what is hidden
Great work. Surely, now you can tell us who is the builder?
Finally a certifier has been suspended. So many need to follow.
Music to my ears. I agree, if only the VBA would be proactive and take action against these dodgy builders, so many people's would be saved from suffering the same fate. That also tells me that the VBA are being quiet because they have something to hide. Perhaps in every video, try to encourage the viewers to tag the VBA so it's overwhelming for them and ultimately force their hand. Anyway, we're grateful for your hard work and appreciate your content as it helps so many. 😊
Your work is awesome!
Keep up the great work 👍
It's terrible that this channel is blowing up because of shoddy jobs. VBA are mates with the builders so unlikely anything like this will ever happen here in Vic.
The shoddy jobs are a side effect of the corruption within the Industry. Good to see that NSW has stepped up and taken some action and hopefully continues to chase dodgy work and Inspection. Australian Standards should be made public too, having a private company charge ridiculous prices for Information and procedures for building compliance just seems stupid.
VBA are corrupt fucks!
@@ozzybloke4830 it blows my mind that the shit jobs here are not even being hidden. Did they not feed their seeing eye dogs before and during the project?
Ask yourself this question, "If everyone in the world was like me, would the world be a better place"?
In this case, of the King of Site Inspection, the answer is YES! :)
Thanks mate, as always, your work is so valuable and appreciated to help expose these rotten people in the world!
Agreed.
Canadian professor Jordan Peterson was once asked what the ordinary guy should strive for in life. "Simply deliver a quality product," he said. "The positives in all directions are immense if you do just simply that."
Congratulations man. You are making the difference and more power to you for it.
Hopefully the certifier gets his indemnity insurance hammered, the home owner warranty insurance isn't worth the papaer it's written on . To a max of $80,000.00 . It will take more then 80k to fix that .
Your like the new Mike Holmes we use to love watching him do the exact same thing as you bringing awareness to buildings & trying to raise the bar
Lookup Paul Gearin NCAT and you can see this case in all its glory. Fair Trading cancelled the license then the appeal to the AAT.
So as of late October the suspension was stayed, until the full hearing result. He can't take on new work. He can inspect buildings albeit with supervision.
If NSW fair trading is interested that's fantastic! If I could afford your services I'd ask you to see my mothers house in Yowie Bay NSW. Fairly certain it would make it to number one. The non compliance is insane.
Send us an email, I’ll be there in December 4-8, discounted rates!
Let’s goooooo 🎉
Make it happen!!11!
I hope there is more/continued consequences to your vids and the property authorities keep coming down hard on these perpetrators. Great work mate 👏
Awesome work, let’s gooooo
A handover defects inspection is something I do on a semi regular basis and we don't see the same issues in the country - from the majority of builders/trades as most - but not all are local and word spreads quickly here.
I have just had a 'discussion' with a supervisor from a steel frame house builder in Vic which is about 60% as bad as that house - owner has 3 other dwellings on his 'farm' and was building his 'retirement' house, spent close to $900k on the build only, no paths land etc....wanted a handover final done, I guestimated about $130k in repairs needed to bring the house up to par but not to make it perfect, just to make it habitable...VBA needs a sorting out....
We need more drama! Do it for us!
Ok 😎
