Interesting criticsm of the road noise generated over certain sufraces (about 7.3 minutes). This might rule the Audi out for me, since I rate driving refinement very highly..
I prefer the rounded edges of the A1 predecessors. They evoke the feeling of enjoying ice-cream. This new version makes it a bit less special to look at from the outside.
TheLastArkham I will admit that it’s not the cheapest car out there, but in any decent country, with your first five years of intelligent and hard work you can easily afford it.
@@neitherlink6612 dude, i agree, its not an excessivily expensive car, but you said it yourself, decent countries, thats basically western europe and just a handful of other countries. Now it's the size of the old A3. No such thing as a small car anymore. Sad its not exciting nor luxurious. Like Matt sad, at least the Mini Cooper is sporty to drive. Happy the Fiesta ST exists for now. Not sure what the purpose of the A1 is given the VW Polo exists
It is so annoying when people compare this car with a polo 🙄 it may share some parts but is not the same car.. he says, save some money and buy a polo, u don’t get all the luxury that u get with the a1 so no thanks I prefer to pay a bit extra!
In Europe is starts at 20k€ and with all features it will cost 40k€, that would include the 200 hp engine. For 30k€ you get pretty much all the features you really need. Hope that helps
The three slots above the grill are a nod to the Sport Quattro from back in the day goo.gl/images/ThjpvR As are the blistered wheel arches. Massive improvement in styling over the old model but it’s a shame about the road noise especially since Audi and Volkswagen group products have been getting that very good of late and again the cheap material on the tops of the door cards was not necessarily and it’s out of place. Otherwise a brilliant interior, it might be very closely related to the Polo but I think it’s endlessly better looking so at the end of the day you’d have to ask yourself if for that is it worth it to you for the extra money you’d have to pay.
not impressed by your subtle, half-hearted reviews on this A1....its obvious that you are skipping critics on the practicality and drivetrain...disappointed
Darth Kermit - Is it really cheaper? A1 30 TFSI starts at 21.700€ with 116hp. Polo 1.0 starts at 13.500€, but has only 65hp and thus way less power. For a fair comparison, you would have to chose a Polo 1.0 TSI OPF which starts at 19.050€ with 115hp. So, the true price difference is only 2.650€. Not that much considering how much better the A1 is in terms of infotainment, quality and driving expirience.
The journos are going to talk this up however,we all know that it is not more masculine. Those slats above the grille make it look like a commercial vehicle.Didn't a Holden car have something similar above its grille? Also the interior looks a little cheap. The colour accents inside the car are not my thing.
Audi is a luxury car company, what do you expect it to be, a regular car company? Okay I have to admit I wish this car would be affordable. Luxury car companies make good looking cars, and so can regular car companies.
Audi seriously need to do something about their door trims, if the A1 is anything like the Q2 then the door trims are shocking, feels like something you found in a Hyundai of 10 years ago
When these new Audi's are made with such crap materials, what's the difference now? I30 has better performance, better warranty and support, and costs less... (The list is a lot larger, but I can't be fkd listing the rest... Go watch some reviews.)
Adrian May this may come as a surprise to you but not everyone is delusional to think that driving a Hyundai somehow means that you are driving an Audi as much as you’d like to convince yourself:)
In terms of market segmentation, which implies price, too. In germany, A1 (30 TFSI) starts with 21.150,00€ and A-class (A 160) with 26.090,75€. That's 6.000€ more for the A-class or ~24% more expensive. For average people 6.000€ is much money, but in my opinion completely worth spending to get an A-class instead of an A1 since the A-class is way better in almost every category.
neitherlink Well to be fair, there’s nothing you can get with a BMW 1 series you can’t get in a BMW mini lol. They even share the exact same iDrive infotainment systems, etc.
We have a one and love it.

Comparing it to the mini is ok, but not with the a class. After all, the a class competes with the a3 and the series 1
No manual option is a bit disappointing. Looks cool though
Dashboard looks too busy for my liking. At least it has a manual handbrake though
I prefer the rounded edges of the A1 predecessors. They evoke the feeling of enjoying ice-cream. This new version makes it a bit less special to look at from the outside.
Not in the same class as the Merc A class. Surely that’s in the A3’s spectrum
Not excited by it. Seems like a rebadged polo. Interior doesn't seem any more premium.
It is more premium... to a degree.
Cheers
Matt
It surely does not look as premium as the new A-Class, that is true. But it is still premium with a top quality infotainment system and many more.
Far nicer. The Polo is bland, to say the least...
A nice little toy for rich family’s kids

it should come with a manual gearbox and 250+bhp
Like the exterior but 35k EUR is crazy money for it, especially when everything else on the car is painfully average. Sorry audi, no sale.
