Oh MY GOSH ElleBee. Your weeded HTV folder IS GENIUS!!!!! I am using a heat press at a local vinyl store until I buy my own heat press and THIS was my #1 questions...how do I transport my weeded pieces so I don't end up with one sticky mess! GENIUS! Love your videos! Erin
Enjoyed your video. I have a cutter and press at home and school. I've used up to three colors. Yours was crazy complicated. For holding the cut vinyl, I use thick tracing paper but I do like your weeding folder.
Thank you. I have attached my teflon sheet to the top of my press with these clips amzn.to/2r4PI6i so that I don't have to fuss with placing and removing it every time I press - its just always there. (I used to use magnets like in the video but since upgraded to the clips and they work much better)
haha for the longest time I never knew you could actual layer the vinyl on top of each other every video i watch only showed multicolor non-layered HTV. Thanks learning a lot from your channel.
Impressive..It'd take me about a week to do that 😂. I love personalising clothing, but I have a long way to go until I'd feel comfortable attempting such an intricate design like this. It looks great, thanks for sharing x
at 1700 One question with the eyes. The base layer is black then you put white, blue , black than white which is 4 colors layered on top of each other. how many different color vinyls can you layer on top of each other?
thank you for sharing the video. this is a good work. what you can have various experiences on how to apply the cost to produce shirts with some colors like your video? does it look pretty expensive to use this material with some color? thanks
I've been watching your videos for the last two days and love them. Just subscribed! Only suggestion is that the music parts are quite loud. I watch the videos while wearing headphones and find the need to constantly adjust the volume. But I love the content and have been inspired.
Thanks for sharing, as this was an awesome video and I absolutely love your protector sheets/design image hack. Question, what was your temp and have you done this with Cricut other vinyls that press at different temps? Also, most people do a final overall press for an additional 15 seconds but you did not, why? Thank you.
Thank you! I have never used Cricut vinyl, so no experience there. I have mixed vinyls that press at different temps but not in the quantity of different colors like i did this one. I try to make the design so that I can press the hotter one first. I split the difference in temp and change the time. So if I’m pressing glitter that’s 320 and in another spot I’m using Easyweed that’s 305 I’ll press the glitter first at 312 for 15 seconds, then add the Easyweed and press for 10 seconds. So the glitter is getting a lower temp for longer and the Easyweed is getting a hotter temp for less time. I did do a bit of a final press but not an extra press. The first few colors were already pressed for more than 15 seconds and adding extra time that’s not necessary can be detrimental to the HTV. It shrinks, and over pressing breaks down the adhesive or burns it, which causes cracking and peeling.
Thanks for the video it was very helpful but I would like to know where did you get the design? My daughter watched this video with me and she loves it. I would like to do this for her.
the link to where I got the design is in the video description, but the designer has taken her site down so it's no longer available. I don't know if she intends to republish her blog at some point.
Thanks for sharing your video. I'm interested in your teflon sheet used in this video. I didn't see a link for it in your description above so I'm guessing it came with your press. However if you did purchase it, do you remember it's dimensions?
thank you so much for this video, I'm so new to silhouette studio so I'm trying to take in as much as possible.. 1 question please! does this only work on business edition, I lost you in the 1st 5mins of this video lol. when I select fill colour it won't allow me to select anything there(still have Basic Edition)TIA
This should work in all versions. This video is several years old so location of tools may be different but the steps are the same. I highly recommend upgrading to Business tho, it gives you access to every feature and capability. Well worth the one time cost
How do you get your words to form along with the lines for the shave (hair). In cricut design space it only lets you curve. And also the tails of the words are narrow compared to the middle. Can you do a video? Thx.
I use silhouette cameo -basic edition and am having no luck with with being able to print by color as you had shown here. I cannot get the image to color fill after trace and detaching and releasing compound. What am I missing here? Thank you so much for any advice or tip.
the common cause of an object not filling after tracing is that the path isn't closed. Turn on point editing and look for any red nodes and connect them as necessary to close the paths and then you should be able to color fill.
Incredible! I wish there was a way to use registration marks with HTV (that could be cut off prior to pressing of course) to help with lining up the design. Thank you for this video.
HTV is on a clear carrier and easy to reposition prior to pressing so lining up layers is pretty simple. For multiple pieces that aren’t stacked, but need to be aligned properly, I have a different method I use which can be found in my multicolor non-layered HTV tutorial.
Can you piece together the image prior to putting on the shirt? Wanted to have a selection of images to bring to a baby shower for others to make onesies as an activity station but need want to layer before hand so they just need to iron on.
I was layers all the time, haven’t had any issues so far. Some HTV s shouldn’t be layered - like glitter or holographic can not be layered on top of, but regular Easyweed can be layered as much as you want.
Thank you. I really wanted to ask about the HTV that is recommended to layer. I just wanted to make sure that it will hold up through much more than 10 washings, which is what I had read on a supplier's site. Thank you for responding to me. :)
great work..So I have one question I just started this whole cricut as a hobby to make my kids shirts but when I layer you can see the clear part of the paper mark on the layers if it over laps the design what am I doing wrong? Thank you
If you use Siser HTV, you only need to press each layer for a second before removing the carrier sheet. After the last layer, and removing the last carrier sheet, your final press should remove any mark
The designer removed the file a few years ago, so i don’t think it’d available any more. I love the Starcraft heat press, it’s great quality and easy to use. www.143vinyl.com/starcraft-heat-press-15x15-clam-shell-mint.html?partner=21805
@@ElleBeeCreates Thank you so much for the recommendation!! Someone in the comments found the file on Etsy, btw. www.etsy.com/listing/494045725/chibi-dc-superhero-girls-word-art-wonder?ref=hp_rv-2
Assuming this file was able to be used commercially, probably around $28-$30 but it would depend on the cost of the supplies, the creators experience and the market in which it’s being sold.
Is it not okay to have more than two layers of vinyl directly on top of each other. I did a project last night but just realized this am how thick it actually felt. And I also got a little rippling in my HTV on those thicker parts... Was this the cause?
If it’s rippling it’s probably due to overheating. This shirt is actually only 2 layers of HTV as none of the colors overlap one another, so there’s the base black layer and then the different colors layered on top of that. The more layers you add, the bulkier it will get and the thicker it will feel.
it is! It came with the press, just a regular teflon sheet. It's made to withstand temps much hotter than what the press puts out, I've never had an issue with one burning.
Could be several things - the pressure could be to high, or you're pressing too long. When you add a new layer, only press for 2 seconds, remove carrier sheet, and repeat for each layer. Then after tacking down the last layer for 2 seconds, remove the carrier and finish with a 10 second press. This should help eliminate those pesky lines. If you do get any that remain, they typically fall out with the first wash (make sure you wait at least 24-48 hours before washing)
I’ve yet to find a (non solvent/eco-solvent) printable transfer that offers the clarity, vibrancy, or longevity of HTV. Plus, HTV is just plain fun to work with!
Our individual definitions of fun differ greatly ;) . I work in quick turnover and that just wouldn't work for me. Unless the client wanted to pay for the time/effort that it would be involved. But fortunately I service a market that will accept less high quality and still pay a premium. But great video all the same. AND what's that tool on your wrist to catch the weeded HTV? I need one!
That’s a lucky market to be in. Thank you. The ring is technically for holding a bottle of nail polish but it works better as a weed catcher. They are on amazon but shop around for the best price, some people have luck ordering from overseas if they don’t mind the wait. amzn.to/2y4qkyv
I do make a lot of my own but there are a lot of free resources online, or I purchase from designers on their individual websites or thru Etsy. The link to this particular design is in the description of the video.
Yes, SVG is the most common file type for cutting machines. I'm not sure what capabilities the cricut software has for handling image files (such as jpeg or pdf) but those are not cut files by nature, where as SVG files are kind of "pre-programmed" to be cut with a machine like the cricut or Silhouette.
The waste vinyl is worth less than your time, I personally am prepared to waste vinyl and set registration marks on each layer. This is just a speed thing for me, but if its a one off then this method is just fine apart from the buggering about lining everything up.
registration boxes and "wasted" vinyl are fine with adhesive vinyl, but for HTV, registration boxes aren't very useful unless you don't mind having a stack of boxes pressed on to your garment when it's all said and done. I have quite a few adhesive vinyl layering videos using the boxes, but for HTV, its just as easy to cut your pieces to size to place as needed. A lot of people are on a budget and like to save whatever they can when it comes to HTV, so this video shows them how they can layer with the least amount of waste.

Beautiful design....well done!
Very fun graphic! So, does the heated mat help keep your hands in the warm in the winter?
it does! That's the original purpose of the mat, I've just repurposed it to help aid in weeding HTV

That last dark red layer only got about 10-15 seconds of press. Any issues with that?
Siser Easyweed only requires a 10-15 second press to adhere properly
thanks!
Love this video!!!! Thank you sooo much!

It’s actually linked in the description of the video! ☺️
Where do you buy your Tee's
Sharica Ross typically from jiffyshirts.com
Where did you purchase the printable HTv? And how much?
This is Siser Easyweed, not printable HTV
How can I get this design?
The designer used to give it away for free but so many were stealing it and selling it as their own, so she took it down.
