Nice to see you again, Dan.
“Her Majesty’s Secret Service” has a special place in my heart. I was a junior in college when I saw the movie with a couple friends. All the scenes on the ski slopes showing the beauty of life in the Alps excited me. I said to myself, “Someday I’m going there.” After we left the theater, one of my friends remarked about how excited I seemed while watching the film. In 1976, I was watching the Winter Olympics, held in Innsbruck, one evening with my family. I mentioned the things I would do when I got there. They laughed at me and said, “You’re never going to live there.” In 1982, I started living outside of Stuttgart, about three hours’ drive from Austria. The first time I drove from Garmisch down into the Inn Valley, I had tears in my eyes because no matter how often I was laughed at, I knew that someday I would go there and experience it for myself while the rest of the family was stuck in "Dullsville." For two years, I spent many wonderful weekends, summer and winter, in the Alps, and it was that James Bond movie which inspired me to go there.
I was shocked when I saw George Lazenby’s Bond because for the first time, 007 seemed human and vulnerable. I suddenly saw James Bond as a real person and not some perfect, fake movie character.
The Bond movies in general were also significant to me because when I viewed them as a teenager, they made me realize that there was a whole world out there beyond the shores of America. Although I didn’t know it at the time, I was destined to visit and even live in parts of that world someday.
Dan, having watched all your previous Bond reviews, I knew in advance that Roger Moore would be your #1, and I agree with you. I’m not inclined to rank the rest of the players. I prefer to enjoy them all for the entertainment value I get from the films, especially the chase scenes.
Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

@@bombthechaos3916 I actually recall when I did my original video on Majesty’s you mentioning the impact it had on you, and you wondered what films would have a similar impact on me later in my life, and its interesting looking back at the Bond films that have had that impact for me like Majesty’s did for yourself. But that is a great story and I myself would love to ski someday, definitely a bucket list thing to do. And so many of the locations visited in Bond films I’d love to check out one day. Of course you have Piz Gloria in Majesty’s, but also Jamaica, Turkey, The Bahamas, Tokyo, Egypt, Italy, Paris, I could go on.
I have got some videos planned for the end of this year in spite of my less frequent output this year, but I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

I agree with you on Sean Connery. I think he’s amazing when he’s putting his effort in but his clear lack or interest in some of his later films really lets him down overall for me so he wouldn’t be my favourite
I’d say that my favourite is probably Brosnan because I really love the human side of him and I think he has the perfect use of humour and seriousness

Early era Connery definitely does a lot of the heavy lifting, but it’s worth it cuz holy moly he’s perfect in those first few films. Brosnan is a good choice for the top as well

Overall a good list, even if it doesn’t mirror mine. It’s refreshing to see one with Craig placed where he belongs at 5 and with good reasoning. Among other things, he just isn’t fun to watch and he doesn’t seem to be enjoying himself. The biggest problem I have with him though is that he allowed the franchise to literally kill him.
I’d place Sean at the top because he has the best balance of charm (lacking with Dalton and Craig), danger (lacking with Moore), sex appeal (Dalton and a bit with Craig), and style (far surpassing all of them, Brosnan a distant second). He quickly overtook the book version as the definitive James Bond and created an archetype. The rest of my list goes Brosnan, Moore, Dalton, Craig, and Lazenby (had the looks and moves but couldn’t fucking act).
Also, I agree that The Spy Who Loved Me is the best Bond film.
