That footage is pure gold! Always got shivers when listening to this song but any material from early years of TG is virtually impossible to source out. Still have the stereo tape with "Always" somewhere. Many thanks for this!
This is METAL!!! thanks for posting this Bart (I saw the nickname and I figured it out if it was an anagram of your name, and then I enter to see this video and yes it is! actually you are the vocalist of the best era of the Gathering!). Well, all I can say is that the first time my brother and I listened to the gathering was in 1995 (I am from Mexico by the way).
but after the first keyboard notes of "Mirror Waters" and then the riffage I thought "wow, this sounds good " and then the death metal grunts kicked in! I still think that is one of the best vocals I have ever listened on the death/doom metal scene by far!
I bought Always.. almost 3 years ago and I've been an fan ever since. I also like 3 albums after Always but none can compare to this. Thanks for posting!
In 1992 we found this band called The Gathering, this was the first time that we hear a female voice , and the keyboards, it was so original. After seen this video of The Gathering live and see the original members, I feel like I travel in time, I feel like I was there listen them for the first time in 1992. Excellent Video, thanks for sharing.
Marieke its a piece of gold. Someone said she is a underated singer and its true. This woman is better than so many gothic and synphonic metal singers and Id preffer this singer! Sorry for the jumping-girl fans!
Was 'theGathering' one of the first 'Beauty and the Beast' type duets?..so to speak. I've heard Theatre of Tragedy was the first but that wasn't till 1995.
@TheSmartBits I have only the 3 first albums + "Downfall" and I don't want the others. Ah... and a live album "Sleepy Buildings" - I bought it only for two songs "Stonegarden" and "The Mirror Waters" performed by Anneke.
One friend of us brought the CD and when we saw the cover we thought and said to him: "what is this man? a christian album? are you becoming gay?"haha (not that we were homophobic, but back then we were on stuff like Carcass, Obituary, Entombed, etc. and we were looking for similar stuff back then),
el mejor album de gathering
the only audible
This is great to see, everybody is headbanging like mad and Marieke stands still like a statue.
One of the best songs from the album! Well, actually.. ALL songs from Always are so f****** perfect!!! \m/
