I've been whiling away the hours waiting for episode 5 by rewatching the AT series. I love them so much. I may have said this before but you really approach those videos from the position of many of us viewers; anxious novices. By now you're an expert hiker, and it's been so nice to watch you grow into that over the 3 series. But as someone who has never done a thru-hike, and who may realistically never have the opportunity , those original AT videos will always have a special place in my heart.

You make me want to watch my AT videos again 😁. I’m so glad they still resonate and show how much I’ve learned when compared to the PCT and CDT journeys. Thanks for telling me that, and for joining me for all of my thru hikes!
The CDT is taking a lot out of me, so I’m definitely behind on my videos - hope to have a new one out in a week or so. Sorry for the delay.

Wow Spielberg just got caught up with your vlog. Don't know how you do it! The way you weave together your vids, words and music just brings out in me a sense of wonder and amazement for the wild and the trail community. Just makes me want to get out and explore more. Don't know if people realize how much hard work you put in filming and editing to bring your experiences to the screen and let us be a part of it. Great great job like always. You do earn your name!!!

Absolutely a stunning valley and great trail magic finish to the video. You are really capturing the Great Southwest well. Glad the sunsets and clouds are putting on their best.

Thanks for another great video Craig, the variety of terrain on the Trail is amazing. The Valley was simply stunning and that scene where you walk onto the promontory to take in the view is eerily reminiscent of a similar scene at Mcafee Knob on the AT which was truly iconic. Thanks once again for sharing and looking forward to the next installment.

Thanks for this video. I went to the badlands and Custer state park in early May, the landscape of that valley reminds me somewhat of those spots. The beauty was overwhelming. Moved me to tears. Sat on a butte and cried with joy. Took me seventy years to get there, worth the wait.

We are such an integral connected part to what is happening around us. Your changes, your interactions with the environment, how you tread upon this earth these are the moments to capture, no boredom, just inmersion, beat boredom back with adventure! And all the blessings and changes within the human soul and psyche that are born from it. People are put in your path for a reason, there are no coincidences just serendipity. There is no better place to know yourself, to discover yourself and where it is in this world you fit in than on a long hike. Peel back those layers discover, wonder, marvel at the mystery of your life. You continue to bring joy and happiness and reflections and meditations on the things that really affect us and you leave us wanting more and this is why what is so intriguing and engaging about you. This is an excercise in immersion in deep introspection is as mesmerizing and hypnotic as that valley. The landscape of the human soul and psyche is so undescribably beautiful and you have tapped into this and are receiving such blessings and beauty back and for you to share this with us is extremely powerful and moving. We are touched by you and your emotion and your gift of sharing your journey so openly it is laid bare and vulnerable. We are all a part of this and are inextricably and intrinsically connected to our world and the landscapes within even those that exist in our hearts and dreams.

Another video that was a gift to be a part of. Thanks for sharing, the only thing better would be to be out there with you guys, and for a moment I was. You remind me to be where I am as well, for there is beauty and connection here too. I've been looking at that same sky with a Crescent moon and Venus. Be well!🙏✌️❤️

I’m a Hoka man now 😁. I switched to them on the PCT and really like hiking in them. My previous brand - Brooks Cascadias are good, but not as cushioned

Nice! Just a reminder to anybody who might misunderstand. The hundred miles of the CDT in the Gila is kind of boring, but man there are some gorgeous canyons to be hiked there that are not part of the CDT.

Round clusters of creamy flowers tip the stems of this 8-24 inch tall (20-61 cm), clump-forming to spreading plant with milky sap. Note the slender leaves, the smooth seed pods, and the erect to spreading (not curled back) petal-like lobes at the base of each flower.
FLOWERS: March-October. Greenish-creamy flowers in round clusters (umbels) 2-3 inches (5-7.6 cm) diameter; 5 erect, petal-like lobes cup around 5 arching reddish to greenish hoods that surround the anther column; no horns present. The slender, smooth (no pointed bumps), horn-shaped seed pods, 2-5-inches long (5-13 cm), with S-shaped stems give the plant its name; dry pods split open to release a mass of flat seeds attached to fluffy hairs.
LEAVES: Irregularly alternate, clustered, blades narrow, lance-shaped, 2-7 1/2-inches (5-19 cm) long, 1/4-1-inch (6-27 mm) wide, often folded lengthwise along midrib. The leaves contain a high concentration of cardiac glycosides, which Monarch butterfly caterpillars concentrate to protect the adult butterfly from bird predators.
HABITAT: Sandy, gravelly, loam soils, roadsides; desert grasslands and scrub, pinion-juniper, pine-oak woodlands.
      ELEVATION: 4,500-8,200 feet.
RANGE: AZ, CA, CO, ID, KS, NE, NV, NM, OK, TX, UT.
SIMILAR SPECIES: The erect to spreading (not folded backwards) petals, reddish hoods with no horns, smooth pods, and slender leaves help separate this milkweed from the 32 species of Asclepias in NM.
NM COUNTIES: Low- to mid-elevation, dry habitats: statewide (except Chaves, De Baca, Guadalupe, Lea, Roosevelt).
      ANTELOPE HORNS MILKWEED
      ASCLEPIAS ASPERULA
Dogbane Family, Apocynaceae (formerly Milkweed Family, Asclepiadaceae)
