Hey Taylor, what incredible content you have created. You have inspired me and probably many more to feel much more confident to just get stuck in to projects we would previously never dreamed of. I have recently restored a 1983 CB900F with no experience hugely inspired by you and the “Will it run Videos”. Best thing i’ve ever done so thank you! Regarding the 550, leave it, it’s a masterpiece you have bought back to life. Pass it on, although I feel your pain and need to hold on as i’ve only had one and i’m keeping it. More CB content please……
I’m old(71) so I am all for comfort and more upright riding positions. A lot of these newer bikes (excepting tourers) are not made for all day riding for us older riders.😜
Age 76, still riding my 15 year old Honda Shadow. Never understood why anyone would want to ride a bike with their legs folded back behind their body, or with handle bars higher than their head. But I am old and set in my ways. LOL
I’m restoring a 72 CB500! I appreciate these videos. They motivate me to get back out in the garage and start working on it. I say leave the tank the way it is. I’m needing a new tank for my bike. Someone did a botched job at sealing the inside of the original.
Love the bike, and like you said, "I rode mine to work everyday. " I sure need to get back into the wind again. I really wish I had it back. I'm 73 now but there is something about the freedom and the wind in your face.
@@williamarinder8809 at this time, I am not riding. Almost bald now but I can still feel the wind in my beard. I am trying to find one to ride, I am in Oklahoma City and I have been looking. I miss the feeling (freedom).
@@dale7436 I had a Shadow VT 1100, but it was getting a little to heavy for me. I sold it and found a 2007 Shadow VLX 600, with only 6,000 miles on it. I had to clean the tank and carb, and put new tires on it. Now it rides good, and fits me good. The Honda Shadow 750 would be about the same bike.
All of those options sound good to me. I don't watch the car content often, but if it's motorcycle related I always watch, whether it's Honda, BMW, Triumph... I like it all and I've learned a ton from watching this channel. I'm pretty sure you were being funny/sarcastic when you said you were bringing tools on the test ride in case you came across another broken down motorcycle....but that seems like the type of dude you are, someone who would carry extra tools in case you came across someone in need of help. Austin is lucky to have you.
I did ride one of these 1972 models to work, and everywhere else, starting in 1972 when I bought it new. Had two of them, as the first was stolen. Great bikes, and I would love to own an original like this. Currently on a Triumph America now 5 years old, had it since new.
I have a 75 cb-550f blue..w/49k miles.Still runs like a sewing machine. Can be started by hand using the kickstarter when warm. They are sweet machines to ride as it is so smooth and civilized. Hi-vo Chain makes noise at idle, then goes away after 1500rpm.running at 5500 rpm for 10hrs it burns 1/2 qt of oil, it never shows smoke.Had to weld on a long dunstal muffler after 2 original mufflers rotted out, the headers remain original.I hope you keep yours...Cheers.!
I think you've done a great job varying the content. I really enjoy the work you've done on the Honda classics but I also enjoy watching something a little different from time to time. Like when you work on the vette. Variety is the spice of life. Oh, and keep the paint on the tank the same. You can always buy another tank and paint it for show quality, but the original patina must remain. It's where the soul of the bike is.
It's only original once, and it has a nice patina.. I say original..!!!. By the way looks great, and great job!.. Got my 1971 Honda CB750 6years ogo... and it sat 20 years prior ... it ran great after some love . Nice to see your channel and the love in what you like doing !... Oh ya ... ,and it was free !..thanks for your sharing!
I used to work with a guy who had one he had owned since new, sweetest bike I have ever seen. I say keep it as is... As Mr. Leno says "they are only original once."
I still have my 1973 CB500 with 40k miles on it but I haven't run it in about 30 years (sold my 1972 CB350 K4 for help pay for it). Got to prioritize going thru it and getting it running again.
Really appreciate your content Taylor, keep up the great work! Would love to see some more BMW content in addition to the CB550 scrambler you mentioned.
Hey Taylor, guess you got your answer on the tank haha ! Let’s see the BMW buttoned up, the CB will make a nice series though. Thanks for all the great content amigo, warm regards from South Africa as always 👊
I love this vid!!! great going! I personally would spray the tank to match the side covers just to match things up but that's me. Keep up this quality of content it's much appreciated! safe riding.
Love it! Can you do a video on the oil leak? I have one too on my CB500. Also, the carb sync video would be awesome. Id say keep the color as is. Keep on the vintage honda content please!
Cool bike dude. I’m just recommissioning a 1980 CG125 here in the U.K. after it being off the road for about 9 years. It’s running but I need to work on the carb. It’s embarrassing as it’s only got one and you manage to tune up four! I’m hoping now I’ve got my Classic Octane t shirt it will give me super powers 🤣
since it's a survivor in the truest sense of the word, i'd leave it just as it is. for my vote, i'm kinda leaning towards the beemer. curious to see what direction you go with the rear suspension, but you know i love a scrambler build. definitely my fave style bike.
I really like this bike Taylor The second bike I owned was a mint, brown and black 1974 CB 500/4 all original way back in 1978 Fantastic bike purred like a kitten Nick Australia
Yeah I’d leave it be. I have a 73 350 G in the same color as the tank. When I got it 11 years ago it needed a good cleaning and a bunch of 0000 steel wool. Can’t beat the original look.
Love your channel. My first bike was a 1969 Honda CB450 scrambler. I know you love the old inline 4 Hondas but I was wondering if you'd ever build an old parallel twin Honda.
Keep as is, a survivor bike 👌🏼 love your work! I’d be keen to see another classic Honda build, scrambler or another brat would be my pick. Would you ever do another budget build or a build all out of your spares in the shed?
Keep the patina because you'll use the bike more, I get the high cost of some classic cars and bikes making people reluctant to use them but I always felt a bit sad that they not used for the purpose they were built for. There's a guy that lives near me that has a nicely restored Alfa Romeo that I've only seen driven twice in the eight years I've lived here.
I've always enjoyed going on a weekend ride to a national park or some other interesting destination on my bikes. Maybe a weekend trip on the CB500... Then some work on the R65...
Do you have to have a rego plate displayed on the bike, and for each bike or does the rego apply to the rider not the bike? In Aust we have to have a plate on the bike and it has to be registered to ride on the road. Keen to know and thanks for the vid loved it.
How do you get that new look back on the engine metal? Or does one of your past videos detail that procedure? I'm guessing sand blasting, silver paint, or I don't know what else.. That paint patina look I don't care for. It looks like hell. I'd paint it, with nice new paint, in a modern color.
I'm wondering, that leak from the stator compartment, isn't that area supposed to remain dry? And if you stop the leak wouldn't that area slowly fill up with oil? And if so would the stator even work in such and environment?
Don't paint it. Great patina
Tank looks great to me. Maybe protect it with a clear coat if there's exposed metal or such, but keep it that way. Looks awesome.

Honda didn't make a 500 in 72. I may be mistaken
Beautiful Bike. Leave her like she is.
I fall in love with all the ones I ride too! Keep the tank as is, like you said, fits the rest of the bike!
Love the bike, and like you said, "I rode mine to work everyday. " I sure need to get back into the wind again. I really wish I had it back. I'm 73 now but there is something about the freedom and the wind in your face.
Are you still riding on two wheels? Age 76 here, and still on my Honda Shadow.

These are great bike and will run forever
I'm normally not in love with patina, but that actually looks beautiful. Now I want one.

a purrrrrrrrrrrrfect survivor, don't change it. it looks freaking awesome.
Vintage Honda, yes yes... it’s what I watch you for...👍🏼
That is cool I really like that you are leaving stock and not making a show bike 👍👍👍
Nice job looks great, nice to see 4 into 2's.
I did up a really rough one in 1979, very satisfying
That was the 1st bike I owned (CB550), your video brought back lots of fun memories!
I love the way that paint fades! Keep it!
the bike looks great the tank is spot on looks and sounds awesome love your channel
I love the classic Honda inline 4s. Great bikes.
I did ride one of these 1972 models to work, and everywhere else, starting in 1972 when I bought it new. Had two of them, as the first was stolen. Great bikes, and I would love to own an original like this. Currently on a Triumph America now 5 years old, had it since new.
Yo, congrats. Another mission accomplished. It’s so pleasant to see ya doing n it looks so easy. Thanks for ur videos.
Awesome ride / video Taylor! Any video content is good content!
It’s nice from ur part to think about others…highly appreciated.🙏

Love the bike ! The tank is great - I would try to get stock 4 into 4 exhausts. Great job.
78 cb550 full rebuild. Let’s see it! Please 🙏
I love the back to stock restorations!
I love the look as the bike sits, great color.
I still have my 1973 CB500 with 40k miles on it but I haven't run it in about 30 years (sold my 1972 CB350 K4 for help pay for it). Got to prioritize going thru it and getting it running again.
That’s the problem, when I have one I can’t let it go… they all have stories and soul. Awesome.
First off, great patina on that tank. Can't go wrong if you keep it that way. I would love to see a Honda build. I've always enjoyed those immensely.
I think the tank would irk me a little, but I love its originality. Leave it like it is, it’s a riding time capsule. Pretty envious!
The bike looks amazing as a survivor. Love all the content but can’t wait to see more “Will is run” videos.
Looking forward to the vintage Honda's I can't get enough of them!
BMW content is epic. Those airheads are so flippin unique
Very nice. I'm with you, leave it as it is.
Really appreciate your content Taylor, keep up the great work! Would love to see some more BMW content in addition to the CB550 scrambler you mentioned.

Keep the tank as is. Looking forward to seeing the scrambler build!
Taylor stick with the vintage hondas for a while, my friends and I love the knowledge you pass on to us all.
An as is original bike has it’s good points. Good job man.
Engine sounds great !
keep it as-is and keep is for yourself, it will be a classic forever
Leave it like it is! Looks great

I have a 500 in boxes. I hope I'll have time to put it together one day.
Love this one! Looks and sounds amazing
Looks perfect. Don't change a thing.
awesome bike buddy. looks brilliant stock

need to change the o-ring on the oil passage plug behind the stator, had to do mine the other day and maybe the seal around your gear lever
Keep it as is, looks fantastic
since it's a survivor in the truest sense of the word, i'd leave it just as it is. for my vote, i'm kinda leaning towards the beemer. curious to see what direction you go with the rear suspension, but you know i love a scrambler build. definitely my fave style bike.
Please keep the JIS bolts. They keep the original look.
Very good, great runner.
Patina, keep it! Maybe some clear coat indeed. I’d like to see the 550 rebuild!
Dude keep the paint as is.... it looks so good...
I really like this bike Taylor
The second bike I owned was a mint, brown and black 1974 CB 500/4 all original way back in 1978
Fantastic bike purred like a kitten
Nick Australia
Sweet ! Would be good to see how the R65 looks finished.
Great vid, thanks
Leave it be. It looks great!
I’d deffo repaint the tank as original. ‘Patina’ is fine on antique furniture.
Yeah I’d leave it be. I have a 73 350 G in the same color as the tank. When I got it 11 years ago it needed a good cleaning and a bunch of 0000 steel wool. Can’t beat the original look.

Another vintage Honda on the road. LETS GOOOOO! :)

Leave the Tank alone.....the patina looks great!
Use it and keep it, I certainly would.
Keep it as it is.
first bike for learners, nice!
I'd say leave the tank alone. Patina FTW!
I would leave it as is. Looks awesome. It's not a resto, it's a classic. Finish the Beemer.
New to the channel and am liking the content so far. After hydroblasting a side cover does it get a protective coating?
No paint, just use your waste oil when you change it. As far as next, I'd say the vette be my choice, but enjoy it all. Thanks for sharing
Keep it as is!
Hi Taylor I think you should keep this bike and enjoy it. Do some road trips 😁👍
I would live to see some more on the BMW. Ever thought about messing with vintage Yamaha bikes as well?
Do you have to have a rego plate displayed on the bike, and for each bike or does the rego apply to the rider not the bike?
In Aust we have to have a plate on the bike and it has to be registered to ride on the road.
Keen to know and thanks for the vid loved it.
I have a 1971 cb500 four the same green and black, other than the exhaust it’s stock.
Perfect the way it is. It will look no worse in 50 years
I’d like to see you do a YAMAHA SR500 or SR400. Great job on the Hondas 👍🏼
Looks perfect to me.
Sounds awesome! Shimmy in front wheel...head bearings, wheel balance?
Leave the tank. Looks awesome
CB550 rebuild next please
I’d like to see more of the R65 progress… but whatever you run with should be good.
How do you get that new look back on the engine metal? Or does one of your past videos detail that procedure? I'm guessing sand blasting, silver paint, or I don't know what else.. That paint patina look I don't care for. It looks like hell. I'd paint it, with nice new paint, in a modern color.
Do that 550! 👍
What do I want to see? That CB500 in my garage with my name on the title!
They're only original once. And it's getting harder to find them in well used, but not abused condition.
Watching this you can understand how bikes like these just annihilated the British Motorcycle Industry.
I'm wondering, that leak from the stator compartment, isn't that area supposed to remain dry? And if you stop the leak wouldn't that area slowly fill up with oil? And if so would the stator even work in such and environment?
