    I've been keeping this a secret because of how effective it has been for me as a soccer player. Once I learned how to play slower, I was able to make decisions faster. Not only was I able to make decisions faster, but they were way better decisions than if I was to play fast.
    Now yes you do have to play fast at times, but when you can learn how to relax a little bit and play slower in a more meaningful way, you will become insanely better at such a short time.
    So if you're ever feeling discouraged, and need a way to become better at soccer, then watch this video!

      @@SoccerWithMaratI'm a literal obscene guitar prodigy and I do the opposite.... I just tried to play as fast as I can with all my fingers when playing flamenco, and it works. But you have to practice. I literally play so fast that I don't share because I don't want to be famous.
      And in soccer,.....you should know your passing options.... and know your dribbling space.... before an incoming pass hits your foot. This lets you one touch to a teammate, and it lets you deflect a pass to your dribbling space , so you can move before a press hits you.
      Your video has loud inspirational music, and you sound very authoritative..... But playing slow won't get you beyond Sunday league. Busquets mostly plays slow, but he can one touch and tiki taka with the best in the world. He plays slow to force opposition to chase. And when he has to one touch, he does. Because he trains both fast and slow.

      @@SoccerWithMarat THIS! I feel playing slower, slowed my mind down from racing about with all the possible decisions to make - thus, I was able to have that extra second more. Funny enough, being more composed on the ball/before the ball arrives, appears to be a little disconcerting for an onrushing opposition player - and they tend to be more hesitant as a result.

    This is good advice. My play is naturally slow because I'm a Busquets type player... Of course I'm not close to his actual ability so people often tell me to speed up, and speed is idolized because the higher levels do play much faster... But this is a great (!) point, that in order to play fast, you need to become good... and in the long run playing calmer is how you become capable of fast eventually.

Even if there are more skilled players in the drop ins i manage to perform better than everyone else just because I’m focusing more on having fun and winning. When I’m in a competitive environment, its annoying because my teammates aren’t doing the right things, not moving right, i have to cover for them, then the pressure of being observed.

    I often play slowly, all the time when I'm playing with friends, often in training and in matches, more rarely because my coach is often on my back and often yells at me to play faster. I'm a winger, I consider myself to have very good technique and passing quality + a good finish (but I can rarely use it in matches), the problem being that I'm not very physical, not very tough and not very fast, so I've always had to play more slowly while knowing when to explode and dribble. But as I said, my coach doesn't necessarily like that, and what's more, he doesn't like me very much (I often have to be excellent, or have other players injured or suspended in order to play a full match), so for a while I had to force myself to play fast in passing, leaving aside my feints and dribbles which allowed me to play more slowly to deliver good passes, being not very fast, it was a very good idea when I can't run on my side and I can send a ball to the strikers. With time, I've become less stressed in matches and, having proved myself, the other players let me play as I like, because they know what I can contribute. At the moment I'm in between the two, so at times I'm able to play free, dribble, play slowly or quickly and send very good balls, and at other times my stress returns and my physique doesn't always follow what my coach asks of me (e.g. pressing a lot on several players at the same time, which isn't possible), so all this is to thank you, I haven't tried your program yet, and in fact I already knew these things, but seeing them synthesized helps me to put these ideas into place more easily, and this program will help me enormously to finally be fully regular and be able to show my true level, which will help me for this end of season and the trials for the next one.

    first, a good scan is the only way to slow the game down and that comes with practice focused on scanning. you're not actually slowing the game down, but it's slower in your mind. this tends to happen with american players when they start learning to drive; you stop looking only at the car right in front of you and scan as far forward and behind as you can. this is what makes you a better driver....and a better player, not just your technical skill. second, someone further down the thread said it perfectly..."slow is smooth and smooth is fast". do things smoother. i love your excitement and awareness. keep up the good work.

    This is true. I have been playing soccer for 3years and was paying attention at other players to see how they play so I can copy it and get better. Most people try to play fast and one day I play with an older guy in his early 50’s. He was slow, but he would be betting 2 to 3 defenders back to back and then pass the ball or shot. At first I thought that he had some great magic skills that took years to develop. However, a few months passed and I played with a different team that also had another older guy and too was slow but was able to beat defenders easy. That’s when I started to realize that maybe is just them playing slow lets them have time to think and slow down the defenders giving you ability to see their body movements. I started to play slow and it has been working for me.

    I’d like to add that when you do play slower, your touches are supposed to be more deliberate and with a bit of confidence behind it. I found that when I perform skills like stepovers, defenders tend to overcommit when I really sell that initial slower, but deliberate, feint; going faster makes it much harder to perform with full technique. Again, as the others said, there’s a time and place for playing at different speeds.

    A few weeks ago in April a group of our churches (parishes) had a seriously competitive 5 a side indoor football (soccer) tournament (between 60-70 players total). The competition was fierce and there were some great players (mostly from the hood) over here in South Africa 🇿🇦.
    But there was one player, early twenties, who stood out head and shoulders above all. It was honestly like a video game the way he played. The most distinguishing feature he had, which surprised me the most because it went against everything I knew at that point: he had a noticeably SLOWER pace of play AND slower dribble than everybody else!
    I’m not saying he played slow, no, but His speed of dribbling and 1v1’s were honestly like medium speed, like slower than how I a social amateur play and dribble 1v1. Yet he was so much more effective and effortless.
    He played for our parish youth team, 20-29 years. I was for the seniors: 30 and over.
    I soon found out from my priest he was prospected in Ireland for professional teams, but unfortunately he was soon afflicted with some health problem which caused him to quit his football ambitions.
    He had a beautifully well balanced style of play, something like Ronaldinho or Adriano (because of his size), never off balance. Sacrificing speed for balance. Which I guess is why nobody could get the ball off him. To his advantage he is fairly tall (like 1.85cm), powerful, and well built (of like West African descent) but he never used that really. He just weaved through players so effortlessly without fumbling, all because he was the only player during that entire tournament who was talented enough to understand that playing your fastest all the time leads to more fumbles and poor decisions. And I’m not saying he was a slow guy, no! But he just played intentionally, instead of reactively. I will never forget it. It was a blessing to witness such raw and TRUE talent. I took advantage of every game he played just to learn. I actually remember saying to myself, I would probably pay to watch this guy play. That’s when I realized why the crème de la crème (cream of the crop) footballers get paid so much, even though i find it ridiculous. But It’s a special thing witnessing rare God given athletic talent, and who wouldn’t pay to experience it.
    You never realise how well, and differently, these rare talents play until you literally see them in real life play alongside the average guy like the majority of us, including the situations they manage to get themselves out of.
    You get good, sometimes even seriously good, average guys. But these type guys are just made for it. It all just clicks so naturally for them.
    I can only imagine what it must be like watching or even playing with the top guys (championship team guys) in real life.
    Edit: Grrreat video, btw.

    Tf are you talking about, busquets is not playing slow, he just seems slow because he is smooth. Count the time he takes between each decision and touch with a stopwatch and see for yourself - he is extremely quick. He is under pressure usually well under a second after receiving the ball and has to make a snap decision and evasive action to get into free space. Then he has all the time in the world to play slow, but most players won’t have the luxury of that space so playing slow “like busquets” is not a very good advice.

    • @AnselTazeh

      By slow he means not being rushed and being composed and relaxed

    • @prs314
      @prs314 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s not what “slow” means for most people. Slow means “moving or operating only at a low speed; not quick or fast.“ or “not rushed, taking its time to unfold or progress without haste or urgency”. But there is always a sense of urgency when you play proper football so why not say “don’t rush your play unnecessarily” instead? I guess it wont be clickbaity enough.

    • @AnselTazeh
      @AnselTazeh หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@prs314yeah the title is very misleading but at the same time when playing football it isnt all the time that you play with a sense of urgency. There are sometimes where you relax on the ball.

    • @SoccerWithMarat
      @SoccerWithMarat  หลายเดือนก่อน

      During a lot of moments, yes you have to play fast, but during other times, you need to play deliberately! Most people get so stressed and just randomly kick or pass the ball. But by playing slowly, you’re able to work more on playing more precisely. Once you start recognising patterns and movements more, you’ll be able to make those hard decisions WAY faster! So it’s a way to build up to playing much higher quality soccer

  • @vasiapatov4544
    @vasiapatov4544 17 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    Getting more into the specifics, with real examples, would really do this video a favor… It's too theoretical/hypothetical. Play slower and you'll start winning 5-0, have scouts looking at you, crush your opponents… Yeah, sure lol.
    I agree there's advantages to playing slower (primarily that you have more time to make better decisions), but it comes with so many tradeoffs.
    There are so many situations in a game where the perfect pass is only available for that split second, after which the chance is gone. If you wait too long, your teammate will be offside, or will be closed down. Wait too long after receiving the ball? You'll have more pressure on you and you'll be more likely to lose the ball, or be forced to play it back.
    The real takeaway I'm getting from here is "dont panic and dont be an idiot on the ball"
