Skurry actually contacted team cherry to prove that they didnt cheat the speedrun, also its just a bug game so it doesnt even matter if they cheated. I also suddenly feel like donating my life savings to skurry, and arguing with people in the comment section saying that skurry cheated
It really shows the attention to detail Team Cherry paid when making Hollow Knight -- it wouldn't make sense for Infected Balloons or Siblings to drop Essence, since the former are pure infection and the latter are pure Void, none of them being able to dream.

There is an issue with this... which is now it is legitimately possible to get too lucky and be deemed a cheater without question. It is unfortunate things had to become this way. Before anyone says "That is too unlikely to happen." Mathematically the Earth shouldn't exist due to how specific everything needs to be to form life on a habitable planet this way. While odds might show the raw chance of a given event it ultimately can't determine with a fact if someone did or did not cheat. Dream ruined a lot for everyone.

However, many things were off about the run. For one, the game’s sound was gone, replace with the song Ram Ranch. The video was titled Celeste 2 berries%, which is not a category, but the any% run picks up 2 berries on its route. And most importantly, there was a parrot named Archie covering the bottom left corner, with text that said “RIP Archie.” Archie was there to cover up auto save icons that indicated an area had been entered before in that save. To nobody’s surprise, the run was fake. I doubt the runner wanted to get the time verified, but rather wanted certain rules regarding verification requirements to be changed (he was pushing for rule changes before the run was submitted, and why would he make he run so obviously abnormal unless to spark an investigation?)

I honestly would love for this to become a widely used category for all kinds of games. Just setting chances to 100% or 0% and routing the game with that in mind, really taking advantage of the entire thing. That could create some insane runs that would never even be thought about being viable normally, because the amount of luck would either make them stupidly long or stupidly grindy to get a good run, that even has a chance of a record.

As far as how unlikely this is. Figuring that each essence drop is a 1/300 chance and roughly estimating that you needed like 600 of them to complete the TE (I couldn't be bothered to look up how many you needed exactly but I estimated high since you skipped Zote and a few trees). The probability of getting 600 straight essence drops is about 5.3 * 10^1487. 10^1487 is such a large number I can't find a word for it anywhere. But combining a bunch of large number words together, I can frankenstein together an awkward mess of a pronounceable number. So anyway, the chances of this happening are about 5 in *100 decillion novemtrigintillion novemtrigintillion centillion centillion centillion centillion*. A centillion is a 1 with 303 zeros, a novemtrigintillion is a 1 with 120 zeros, and a decillion is a 1 with 33 zeros.

As far as how unlikely this is. Figuring that each essence drop is a 1/300 chance and roughly estimating that you needed like 600 of them to complete the TE (I couldn't be bothered to look up how many you needed exactly but I estimated high since you skipped Zote and a few trees).
The probability of getting 600 straight essence drops is about 5.3 * 10^1487.
10^1487 is such a large number I can't find a word for it anywhere. But combining a bunch of large number words together, I can frankenstein together an awkward mess of a pronounceable number.
So anyway, the chances of this happening are about 5 in *100 decillion novemtrigintillion novemtrigintillion centillion centillion centillion centillion*.
A centillion is a 1 with 303 zeros, a novemtrigintillion is a 1 with 120 zeros, and a decillion is a 1 with 33 zeros.
