    The Colt Rotary Pellet Metal Magazines, Fit 357 Python CO2 Pellet/BB Revolvers, 3pk I originally got at www.pyramydair... are no longer available. I do not have another source, sorry.

    This is my first look at my new Umarex Brodax .177 cal Co2 air pistol. The video will show a mixed bag of good and not so good (pellet wise, oops spoiler) as this first time I'm shooting it even though I bought it several months back. It's a very cool and futuristic looking air pistol, and feels solid and nice quality for less than $40.00 typically. It shot very accurately with bb's and I even tried shooting it with pellets using Umarex Python metal rotary mags. The pellets didn't shoot all that well accuracy wise, but some lightweight alloy ones really screamed out of it at 488 FPS average, with several shots over 500 fps!. I give chrony info on bb's and a couple different pellet weights also in the vid. Also, this particular Brodax shot hotter than the 375 fps rating on the package. The video is a bit long but it has some good information and I hope you enjoy it!

    Steel BBs are around 4.4mm diameter, whereas pellets are around 4.5mm. I have tried 4.5mm lead balls (H&N sell lead ball ammo in multiple diameters) in BB gun (smooth bore) barrels. Accuracy was much better than with steel BBs and lead pellets, and muzzle energy was also at least 20% higher, probably due to their tighter fit in the barrel (less blow-by) and the fact that heavier projectiles, while slower than light BBs, exploit the available gas pressure more efficiently.

    • @VipersVideos
      @VipersVideos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Makes sense. I have also used 4.5mm lead balls by Gamo for my P-23 that actually came with it as recommended ammo. They were indeed 4.5mm and weighed 8.17 gr. That may prove to possibly be the ideal ammo for the Brodax as well for reasons you just stated. I'll have to try that this summer, as it's currently -9 deg F here currently.
      Thanks for the comment and info. Good stuff!

      @Ijusthopeitsquick 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VipersVideos Your accuracy with those black steel BBs of yours was very impressive. Makes me wonder if it has a tighter bore than most. I ordered the same pistol (it is called Tornado here in Europe) which is due to arrive today. I will let you know how it performs with various types of round ammo. -9F! And I thought it was cold here in France...

    • @VipersVideos
      @VipersVideos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Ijusthopeitsquick Yeah, those Hornady Black Diamond BBs are not the largest dia. so you may be right about the Brodax/Tornado having a tighter bore than many others. Good luck with your Tornado, and stay warm. We've had a horrendous stretch of below zero F days this winter here in Minnesota this winter... ugh...

    Just wanted to tell you, in case you're unaware, that ASG Blaster makes, what is essentially, a .177 caliber plastic airsoft bb. They only weigh .17 g and fly out of a gun like this or the Colt Python that Umarex makes. They are a little pricey and were once only sold in the UK, but now they are on Amazon. I shoot them all the time and they can be reused. I typically set up a line of ten of those little Dixie Cups that you drink mouth wash from and shoot them down at 8 or 9 yards. Because they have so little mass, the pellets won't penetrate a light fleece blanket used as a back stop, in spite of screaming out of the gun. Form up the bottom of the blanket into a funnel shape and they drop into a cardboard box to be reused. This can be done right inside the living room or rec room with little risk of damage, even if a bad miss caused a ricochet. It's action shooting at its best with no mess to deal with. You should try it. Set up two rows of cups and lend a buddy a one of these inexpensive guns and you've got a real shootin' match to see who clears the most cups fastest with one cylinder of BBs.

    • @VipersVideos

    You didn't mention the rails on top and bottom for accessories like a light or red dot. It's highly accurate and you can take fluorescent green paint and a toothpick and hit the two dots on the back sight and one dot on the front sight. It's rated at up to 375 FPS on the packaging but mines is at least 100 more. There are several things you can do to increase it... dieseling, hammer file, extender, not rapid succession, fresh, warm ambient temperature for CO2, not leaving CO2 in (unless redo seals once in a while) and barrel replacement kept cleaned and perfectly oiled.. You can also buy an 8 magazine for pellets. I consider this a great Self Defense tool as if you actually learn how to use and care for it, because I wouldn't want to get hit in the face with 8 arrow-pointed pellets at over 500 FPS! That's what this gun has the potential of. Also if you pour the BB's in a little bowl or even in your hand you can just rub the magazine can usually all the BBs go right in. Much faster.

      Good info thank you. And agree. I acually learned sorta the hard way that in my county at least you have to have a concealed weapons permit to have one of these legally, I had no idea and I guess kind of understand. My ex has been stalking me and doing so in a very scary manner like hiding in my backyard and sitting under my windows at night watching me. One night ide forgotten to turn my garden hose off by my bedroom window and went out there to turn it off...and as I reached down to turn off my hose I saw him from corner of my eye crouched down behind a bush in a corner, definitely hadn't expected ide be coming outside at 2am I guess. He scared the shit outa me and he started laughing I ran back into the house and grabbed this co2 gun I had right by the door and came back out and he started to approach me almost laughing thinking it was funny...i was in like serious fight or flight mode in shock and adrenaline racing, i unloaded on him as he started walking towards me and shot him as he was trying to get away and hide while calling me a crazy b*tch...I couldn't believe he thought me catching him trespassing into my backyard at 2am and stalking me was funny. I was so traumatized from it I was shaking the while rest of the night. He called cops on me and told them I shot him with a real gun,lol, he totally thought it was a real gun...he'd of been dead duh if it had been, such an idiot. But he did show me the welts from the pellets and 5yrs later he still has a good 7 scars on his chest and arms. This gun does have great accuracy and well the scars tell ya. I almost got arrested though even though it was just an airgun. I had to explain that he'd done this stalking thing for a while and he's made me fearful for my life many times and he's unpredictable cus he's lost his mind and thinks carzy things that make no sense and is definitely on drugs. So they sorta just did a warning with me told me to just go get the permit, and to call them before i shoot him. And always report him when I see him anywhere near me or my home to prevent him from getting that far. The law is here you can only use nessesary force if you feel or believe your life is being threatened. And most importantly, you have to get the permit to have a co2 gun. Ide caught him 2 other times after that and both he acquired multiple more scars...but if it was anyone else who's not high on drugs, im sure this gun would easily detour an attacker, and definitely if you shot them in the face with it holy cow that'd be bad. But know your state laws with all self defense weapons. Only srun guns and mase are legal to use without permits where I am. So I got myself some of those too. But did end up going and getting my concealed weapons permit cus ide been meaning to do that for a long time anyways.

    Greetings from Argentina. I like the BRODAX; it´s more than accurate being a BBs revolver (which is not little thing to say ...). But, one important detail: according to what I know, it´s not a good idea shooting BBs thru a rifled barrel (most certainly will damage the barrel); and/or shooting pellets thru a smooth barrel (accuracy loss). Will buy it next week and tell you my experience ...!

    • @VipersVideos
      @VipersVideos  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, sort of. The plastic OEM mags holes will be a bit undersized to hold the smaller (than pellet dia) bb's, so if you slowly/gently filed or sanded (I'm not recommending, just saying) them open just enough to hold a pellet snug, it should work. But that will make the holes oversized for bb use, so keep that in mind and try to get some spares. Again, not recommending or promising it will work. Ymmv as always.
