Now this is some GOAT level content.. The thing that separates Samdish from other podcasters is that he has some good understanding and awarness about things.. He is indeed the Jack of all trades without acting like being one..
About frickin time we had a doc filmmakers round-table in this country! Payal K would have been such a healthy addition to this. Vinay is so irreverent, so much fun. BUt Sushmit & Rintu take the cake for me - so vulnerable, yet so eloquent, elegant. Love them. More power to you!
For a guy who has never commented on any video for 20 years of his life, I'm doing it. I love this. As soon as i start earning, I'll join whatever model of community you have
Fun Trivia which coincidences with the video title : India holds the record for the longest documentary film which is 48hrs long, directed by Blessy, who just released his latest movie 2 weeks back "The Goat Life" on 28th March 2024.
Samdish how to connect with you. We have been trying via dm. We have really good space which we can make available for making videos. Atleast this is the smallest bit we may contribute in this amazing work of yours.
i saw namaskar, main ravish kumar (while we watched) at mumbai film festival and had the privilege to see vinay and the man himself ravish ji after the screening and ever since then, my thought of being a filmmaker has evolved i think. i also want to make documentaries now. and seeing and following samdish since so long because of that spark that vinay ignited and now both of them are here together. how wonderful ji

Absolutely! Thanks to Samdish and all the incredible guests for crafting one of the most exceptional podcasts. The depth of knowledge and insights shared on each episode is simply outstanding.
I have been following you for years now, Samdish ❤ This is one of the best interviews you have ever taken. Thank you so much for bringing these people. I now have so many good movies to go and watch. I am a researcher in Germany and I related so much with their process of making a documentary. The ups and downs of a sine curve is so true! And It can become a lonely journey where nurturing a strong support system is essential. Thank you so much for making my Sunday amazing. Keep up the great work!
Great video, but the tagging of individuals featured and the details of the discussed documentaries could be improved. The titles of the documentaries are missing, making it hard to track them down for further viewing. Proper references would greatly enhance the ability to follow up on what the guests discussed.
What an absolute treat this was! Had to break it up over a few days but would have happily watched another two hours. This really demystified the world of doc films for me and was also an eyeopener to what a challenging landscape doc film-makers deal with and operate within, especially in India. And how amazingly moderated too! Sometimes like this i feel honoured to be an audience. Thank you for this.
This maybe again maybe not most watched video but one of your top or top most content yet. Thanks to you Samdish and ofcourse to Woodland bhaisahab for supporting your work
very rare to see such refreshing pieces of content coming out of India especially in the current climate. Samdish has been and continues to be a true pioneer
Samdhish (and team), boss aap fod rahe ho yaar. Thank you. Keep pushing the boundaries, as you do. Also - thanks to Woodland (respect). Also. There is a market for documentaries in India, and it will only develop.
What a fantastic conversation! Much needed insight into the docu landscape of India. The struggle is real but so so inspiring. Thanks Unfiltered team for thinking of this and doing this.
Samdish, mazza aa gaya! Documentaries are like one of those entities, which have been hidden in plain sight for far too long. Thank you for actually being a 'creator' who lives up to the ethos of content creation. Fascinated!
1:56:50; so rightly said. i have never gotten so much insight in a single video about the industry. thank you for making such a podcast happen, looking forward to watching and working with you, samdish.
It seems so connected, i am from Kalpi and there used to be one cinema there. And this movie called Kumar talkies, I did not know about it. And I think almost nobody in Kalpi knows about it. It is so exciting to know that there is a movie created in and around the settings of kalpi that even before completely watching this video i am posting this comment. have to watch it. Thanks samdish, for this info.
What a delightful conversation. Touches upon so many pertinent issues and shines a light on the distinctive, difficult and challenging world documentary filmmakers inhabit …

After just watching half of this interview, I looked up 'An Insignificant Man', and watched the very first documentary in my life. I'm just blown away by the format and in a state of trance by the impact it had on me. Wow! Thanks Samdish for making us aware and curious enough to take an interest in this brilliant art form.❤

Thats really great that u did and Interview with Documentary Film makers i am watching it very late. Indian Independent Documentary film scene is very tight. Very less can survive doing it. Even i am Independent filmmaker and have Produced most of work myself by doing commercial work. other than Film festivals there are very little audiences to it the scene is changing now but at a very slow pace. People should watch Documentaries not just to support but to make self aware whats happening around also If people start buying tickets it can be also screened on theaters and there will boost to Independent Docu scene. There are lot stories to be told in the world but a proper economic steam the Independent Docu scene will get change!
