I don't use a strap so it helps me control the uke. I don't do it on guitar as that rests on my leg and doesn't move around, but a little uke is much harder to control!
@@MichelleLouiseDavis-zl7ub I'm not putting pressure on it, just resting it there. I come from a banjo background, and it's common to plant the little and ring fingers on the head of the banjo. That said, I move my right hand and the instrument around a lot when performing. On video, I'm always conscious of keeping the instrument in shot!
This is brilliant Phil😍 Exactly what I need for my next step, having already learned to do a couple of ‘Travis type’, patterns, this will teach me how to add melody notes. Thank you 🙏 sooo much 🎶🌷
if you shrink that ukulele down to soprano size, change the lovely grey powder coat to blue and, I’m just guessing here, make it a brass body rather than steel, you’d have my first reso uke. I finally found it too jangly and, 15 years later, got my wood bodied Gretsch. sure, it’s concert scale, completely ruining my soprano nazi reputation, but I don’t care, I love it. if you’re curious, here’s the only video I recorded using it: th-cam.com/video/85mCIJwhfRE/w-d-xo.html
Yes, unfortunately my software tends to show the time signature lining up as if they are notes, but yes, it's the time signature. I've made it a (slightly) different font and size to try and show it's different, but I do like to show the time signature.
That's probably the clearest explanation I've seen. Thank you, really helpful.
Thanks Phil for another great lesson!
Did I just hear the words Nigh on? That just made my day. 😃
Vielen Dank!
Спасибо за уроки. Привет с Украины !!!!!

Why do you plant your little finger on the guitar?

@Phil Doleman well. Be careful because you might damage your fingers using a technique like that.

I could see hear this lesson better on a baritone
It will all work on baritone, you'll just be in a different key.
Your tab also has the time signature as fretted notes
