I’m learning a valuable lesson on shocks I bought my first set last year and took the sellers word on them being fresh and even provided dyno sheets. I never could get my car to handle well I sent them off to be rebuilt over the winter and just word that I had two LR shocks and two RF shocks and they all were worn completely out he basically said I got good news and bad news the good news is your shocks are way wrong and in bad shape so a huge chunk of your handling issues will be resolved the bad news is your shocks are in bad shape and will cost more to rebuild than anticipated lol
I feel bad for you. I would recommend choosing a sock guy who can explain exactly what he does and why he does it. Try to get reviews before spending your hard earned cash. Thanks for watching.
I really like this stuff. Thanks so much for sharing your many years of wisdom , knowledge, and experience! My brain is always hungry for this type of information. In my book, you are the type of guy I would appreciate spending time in the shop with, and at the track. What an education that would be! Thanks again! I enjoy watch the HTF guys because they are a good wholesome group of racers. However, I get frustrated to see the car go backwards when the track slicks up. The whole time I am watch I am thinking about the changes I would make to get them bite off the corner. I am a 40 plus year asphalt chassis guy, and I have to say that paying attention to dirt track chassis set up, has made me a better asphalt chassis tuner. (and drag racing). Your book was extremely helpful in shining the light on many critical chassis tuning fundamentals that can be applied through all forms of racing.
Most of the time HTF only goes backwards when it’s slick is in the super because they do not have 3 sets of shocks to follow a track like the guys they are racing with. All of there runs at All Tech in crates is literally a pedal fest but Joesph makes up for that in the crate division but in super the caliber of drivers is the same so he can only do so much.

They’ve got all kinds of money from YT and ppl donating. I’m sick of hearing about how “underfunded” they are. Joseph is a decent regional racer at best and that is being generous. Talent will only take you so far and money will only take you so far. Nothin but constant excuses coming from the HTF crew and there followers. “Oh if we just had a bigger motor” then they get a bigger motor and still run the same. “Oh if we just had a different/newer chassis” then get new chassis and still run the same. Them boys got anything they need. Making enough money off there channel to race full time and all 4 of them quit their job and build new houses etc. 😂😂cmon man

I also agree, a ton of LRF compression and not much RF tie down feels in my car to be unbalanced. It also feels like it pogos more often then tieing down the right front and soften the left rear front compression. As well as taking out some droop and ride height load. If it doesn’t fall on the left rear it steer AMAZING. But it won’t have forward bite. Then you’ll pull RR load out thinking it’ll help but really just adds sidebite.
I was actually thinking about doing another video on this. It will theoretically add wedge, which could add traction if your car needs more wedge for traction. But, there is something else going on here. If you chart the motion on the back shock mount, there is a possibility to relax the top rod and add traction. It will also depend on the preload there is on the lr spring. Too much preload could potentially make that LR too stiff and take traction out. That LR spring is quite a bit more complicated than just moving around to add traction. Great question. Thanks for watching.
I think you will find that racers who travel carry both set ups in RF shocks HighRebound/ZeroPoint for fast high momentum tracks & less Rebound/ZeroPoint for Stop & Go joints !!!
I can put that on the list for this winter. I get real busy during the summer, but will probably be making more videos this winter. The biggest thing I can say on shock oil is keeping it clean and fresh. It degrades just like any other oil. I like synthetics just because of the consistent molecule size. I personally use Maxima.

Yep, “pulling rr load out” will add side bite because you are lowering the rr and adding wedge. Thanks for arching.

Position sensitive rebound may be something to think about. Look at a fox bottom out cup. Could be used for rebound only.
I’ve been a big advocate of position sensitive shock valving.
In the same thought process. On the LR behind shock, if you lengthen it from the center line will it add traction?
