what happened here is - he starts to paint -the painting doesn't go the way he planed - he gets angry and starts to smear - some nutshell of a gallerist comes and sees buys and sells it -Richter not dumb says to himself why bother with traditional painting when you can smear a picture in an hour and still get the money - this has happened to me so I know how the art business works - I stopped, I do not want to be recognized for the surfaces I smear - I just got to stop getting angry when my work doesn't meet my standards.
