). On the fall of Adam: "HE SINNED BECAUSE GOD SO ORDAINED, because the Lord saw good." (Calvin's Inst., book 3, chapter 24, section 8.)
). "Thieves, murderers, and other malefactors are God's instruments, which he uses to execute WHAT HE HATH DECREED IN HIMSELF.”-John Calvin institutes, b. 1, c. 17, s. 5.)
). “God not only foresaw the fall of the first man, and in him the ruin of his posterity; BUT ALSO AT HIS OWN PLEASURE ARRANGED IT”. [Calvin, Institutes 3:23 :7]
). Another prophet also exclaims, “Our God is in the heavens: he has done whatsoever he has pleased,” (Ps. 115:3). I have already shown clearly enough that GOD IS THE AUTHOR OF ALL THOSE THINGS which, according to these objectors, happen only by his inactive permission. He testifies that he CREATES light and darkness, forms good and EVIL (Is. 45:7); THAT NO EVIL HAPPENS WHICH HE HAS NOT DONE (Amos 3:6). Let them tell me whether God exercises his Judgments willingly or unwillingly. - John Calvin , Institutes Book 1 Chapter 18, paragraph 13
). The will of God is the chief and principal CAUSE OF ALL THINGS.”Concerning the Eternal Predestination of God --John Calvin (Concerning the Eternal Predestination of God, p.177,)
). "nothing is more absurd than to think anything at all is done but by the ordination of God." (Calvin's Institutes, book 1., chap. 16, sect. 3.)
). “As all contingencies whatsoever depend on it [providence], therefore, neither thefts nor adulteries, nor murders, are perpetrated WITHOUT AN INTERPOSITION OF THE DIVINE WILL … we rush on, not thinking of what he wishes, but so inflamed by our own passionate lust, that, with destined purpose, we strive against him. And in this way, WHILE ACTING WICKEDLY , WE SERVE HIS RIGHTEOUS ORDINATION”. [Calvin, Institutes, 1:17 :5]
). “The sum of the whole is this - since the will of God is said to be the cause of all things, all the counsels and actions of men must be held to be governed by his providence; so that he not only exerts his power in the elect, who are guided by the Holy Spirit, but also FORCES THE REPROBATE TO DO HIM SERVICE.” [Calvin, Institutes, 1:18 :2]
). “How foolish and frail is the support of divine justice afforded by the
suggestion that evils come to be, not by His will but by His permission. . . .IT IS A QUITE FRIVOLOUS REFUGE TO SAY THAT GOD INDIRECTLY PERMITS THEM , WHEN SCRIPTURE SHOWS HIM NOT ONLY WILLING, BUT THE AUTHOR OF THEM . . . It is quite clear from the evidence of Scripture that GOD WORKS IN THE HEARTS OF MEN TO INCLINE THEIR WILLS JUST AS HE WILL, WHETHER TO GOOD …. OR EVIL “. (John Calvin, Concerning the Eternal Predestination of God [1552], trans. J. K. S. Reid (Louisville:WJK, 1961), pg. 176-7
). “..That a person does what GOD ORDAINS FOR HIM TO DO EVEN IF IT INVOLVES EVIL.”----Piper, John. Spectacular Sins: And Their Global Purpose in the Glory of Christ (Wheaton: Crossway, 2008), pg. 24
). “So when I say that EVERYTHING THAT EXISTS --INCLUDING EVIL - IS ORDAINED BY an infinitely holy and all-wise GOD TO MAKE THE GLORY OF CHRIST SHINE MORE BRIGHTLY , I mean that, one way or the other, God sees to it that all things serve to glorify his Son.”---Piper, John. Spectacular Sins: And Their Global Purpose in the Glory of Christ (Wheaton: Crossway, 2008),pg. 44
). “...GOD WILLS THAT WHAT HE HATES COMES TO PASS” ”--John piper --July 1, 1998 Sermon entitled “ Is God less glorious because he ordained that evil be”
