Your examples of the joys of "never stop learning" are a blessing (as I approach my 8th decade). Thank you !
Thank you, Alecia! Learning is something that always makes me feel vibrant and satisfied. So happy we have this community in which to learn together. Happy Crafting! -Anna
Carolyn, have you done a tutorial on making tiles? I think that finish is a great option and I’d like for you to show how you do one and get the lovely sharp corners and edges on your piece. I really enjoy watching and hearing you two talk about your pieces and your families. I’m an only child, so it’s fun to hear about a big family. Carol in Texas
Carolyn is still interested in making a tutorial about tile finishes, but she has not had the right moment yet - maybe this summer. Her tiles really are gorgeous. Happy Crafting, Carol! -Anna
What a relaxing hour spending time stitching and watching/listening to you ladies on a windy Sunday in NE...feeling inspired and upbeat after watching you. Thanks for taking the time to share your talents, curiosity, and insights...
So glad you had a cozy time stitching. Why are the details of cross stitching so fun to talk about?! But they are! Thanks for joining us, Karen, and Happy Crafting! -Anna
With all of life's demands, the amount of projects you both completed is inspiring. Each one lovely. When you retire I imagine one would experience a downdraft simply walking past your homes. 😊 Anna your tunic has given me the motivation to make a new linen shirt. The local thrift store had a four yard piece of 100% linen. It too is floral on a blue background similar to yours. Plan to use MOP buttons from my stash of vintage. Prefer they don't match. Snagged the fabric for two bucks. Yes please. Carolyn you have inspired me to order your cardigan pattern. Thank you ladies for another first class episode. ❤🎉
Hilarious image (downdraft)! And your vision for a linen shirt sounds spectacular! Happy Crafting, Sherry! -Anna
Your finishes and WIPS are AMAZING!! Thanks for keeping me company while I stitch 😊
It's hard to think of a better combo - seeing others' projects and stitching yourself. I love that, too! Happy Crafting, Michelle! -Anna
Congrats on all your beautiful framed pieces, just lovely. And one mustn't discriminate, so your unframed pieces and WIPs are also beautiful. Thanks for another wonderful flosstube. Take care, and happy stitching/crafting (the little green sweater was very sweet).
Yes, I agree, there is beauty in all states of the stitching process! Happy Crafting, Arleen! -Anna
Thanks for another wonderful video encouraging us to stay curious. I love that philosophy of life. Beautiful projects!
Let's all have fun staying curious together! Happy Crafting, Bobbi! -Anna
Lovely projects and I love 56 count as well. I like how small and petite the projects look. I do stitch with a hoop and Cathy from NIAH shared a video of how to pull your linen on a hoop which opens the linen up to see what you are cross stitching. It was a game changer for me. I love Fox and Rabbit, Tabbycat Linen and Needle and a Flax 56 count linen, they are my go to. Going to try Cedar River in 56 count. Love the thumbs up! My Mom turned 91 this past week and we had everyone together, it was awesome and she was just so happy to have the whole family together.
You're giving me ideas of what 56ct fabric to try next! Thanks, Renee! Happy Birthday to your mom and Happy Crafting! -Anna
Another lovely visit. Such fun! Thank you Ladies😊
So glad viewers are having fun watching, because Carolyn and I are having fun filming! :) Happy Crafting! -Anna
Thanks for the review of the TJ’s grapefruit bubbly - it was hysterical! All your projects are wonderful - I’m so impressed by the 56 count! I’ve had that Ginnie Thompson book since the 1980’s - I’m so glad I never got rid of it in a “purge”. I love combing family history with sampler stitching - so far I’ve done samplers for my mother and both grandmothers and for one great grandmother and a great great grandmother. However, one sampler with the initials of many ancestors is beginning to sound like a good idea. Happy stitching to both of you!
We're having so much fun thinking about ways to personalize samplers - initials of loved ones, meaningful quotes and memories, past addresses. It's beautiful hearing about the samplers you've made to honor women in your family, Trudy. Happy Crafting! -Anna
Happy two years flosstube anniversary! I am so impressed of all the things you both get accomplished in between episodes! All the projects in addition to full time work. I don’t work anymore, but don’t get stuff fully finished.
Thanks, Bente! We're having fun admiring the moths you are stitching! Happy Crafting! -Anna
Beautiful stitching ladies. ❤. I really enjoy listening to you while I stitch
Thanks, Judith! So glad you joined us! Happy Crafting! -Anna
Carolyn when you showed the linen stitches book, I remembered I had a Gloria and Pat version of that. I had to dig through my old booklets and sure enough I found it! It is dated 1999. I will have to read it again. Thanks for jogging my memory.
Fun! Some of the older resources are fabulous, aren't they?! Happy Crafting, Sue! -Anna
As always, a wonderful video. Anna, you go girl on the 56 count. Carolyn, your FFO’s were picture perfect. The hem stitched piece looked so good. Take care, my friends.
We always love it when you stop by! Happy Crafting, Sarah! -Anna
I had to chuckle when you showed the Ginny Thompson book. Years ago, ladies from our local cross stitch shop went to a class and learned how to stitch on linen from Ginny and her husband. I still have the book- but I did not remember the finishing instructions! I know a lot of stitchers now are crazy about Ginny Thompson flower threads but been there, done that! Always enjoy your videos!
It's such a joy to hear stories like yours about cross stitch "history"! Been there, done that - haha! Happy Crafting, Cheryl! -Anna
I always look forward to your videos. One of my favorites. Love your style and curious, innovative learning perspectives.
We appreciate your encouraging comments, Louise! Thanks for joining us, and Happy Crafting! -Anna
Thanks for another fun video! I think higher stitch count/smaller stitches look less pixilated, so the edges of motifs flow instead of looking boxy. I also think the small stitches are more dense and therefore also add dimension to our stitching. Those are the main reasons I love to stitch over one on 25-32 count linen!❤❤❤
You were one of the first cross stitchers we knew who stitched small! Thanks for leading the way! And thanks for sharing with us what you enjoy about over one. Happy Crafting, Kathy! -Anna
Congratulations on reaching your 2-year milestone! I always enjoy your episodes!
Thank you, Norma! Carolyn and I can't quite believe we're at the two-year mark. FlossTubing has become part of the rhythm of life! Happy Crafting! -Anna
After watching your video, I ordered Linen Stitches which I received today. I see the book is dedicated to Pat Carson, who made stitching needles which many people swore were the BEST needles to stitch with. They are no longer made as Pat died in 2021. The booklet is also copyrighted 1987, Designs by Gloria & Pat, Inc. which is Pat’s company. The author, Ginnie Thompson is the maker of Flower Threads. I can’t wait to dive into this book. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.
Thanks for all this history! I feel like we are unearthing the layers of stitch-y goodness that came before we started cross stitching. Happy Crafting! -Anna
Thank goodness for the real review on the grapefruit bubbly! I was ready to give it a try. Congrats on the Flossiversary! Great WIPs all the way around.
Haha - just keepin' it real! We had high hopes, as grapefruit lovers! Happy Crafting! -Anna
Anna, have you tried pulling your thread across beeswax? (see an episode of Brenda & the Serial Starter.) Inspiring beautiful projects. Always enjoy visiting with you - especially when you talk about your grandchildren. I have young grandchildren and I agree how much joy they bring. I also enjoy your thumbs up. So positive!!
Thanks for this reminder, Carol. I have used beeswax in other sewing contexts and had forgotten about it for this situation. Cheers to the joy grandchildren bring, and Happy Crafting! -Anna
Fantastic video, love seeing all your projects such beautiful stitching ❣️❣️ sounds like your purchases from Attic were a hit truly are stunning 🤩 happy stitching 🤗
Yes, indeed. Our Attic purchases are going to keep us busy and smiling for a long time! :) Happy Crafting, LaNelle! -Anna
Thank you ladies for sharing a wonderful video. ❤
Still having fun making these video! So glad you're joining us, Linda! Happy Crafting! -Anna
Hi ladies! I would love to see a tile finishing tutorial.
Carolyn has had the idea for making a tutorial about tile finishes for a while, but she has not had the right moment yet - maybe this summer. Her tiles really are gorgeous. Happy Crafting, Gretchenl! -Anna
I love the hem stitch finish - that will be on my "to learn" list! I love the Canadian Sampler and enjoyed your conversation about colours... I'm learning so much! Thank you! Now I am dying to try 56 count fabrics!
The hem stitch is on my "to learn" list, too! Isn't it fun to have zillions of ideas about what to try next? I like that feeling! Happy Crafting, Kathy! -Anna
Thanks for another fun video, it is such fun spending time with the two of you. I love the tile finishes and can’t remember where you got the stands. I absolutely love daddy’s mommy ❤
Carolyn purchases her stands from Etsy stores that sell stained glass, one of them being Coon Stained Glass (link below). The wider groove is perfect for tiles. Happy Crafting! -Anna

You have been wonderfully productive! So many fabulous finishes, but BH 1820 is just stunning framed! It's really understated and in a way, very modern - absolutely lovely. The tile finishes are great too, very clean and simple, but the frame really does add something extra on BH 1820.
Anna - what I think you're seeing with the Surfine is that the color is perfectly even, but the thread slightly varies in thickness. It must be something about spinning something that fine, that it's more difficult to do. I'm using 2099 on AKGIT, which is lighter than 2671, but the effect is much like variegation where the thread gets slightly thinner or thicker, and your coverage changes.
Now I just have to find the right spot for BH 1820! Thanks for you insight about Surfine. What you describe makes perfect sense to me. Happy Crafting, Katie! -Anna
I just found your video. I am a kindergarten teacher and I am so ready for summer break so I can stitch more during day. Enjoyed the video.
I keep making a list of all the craft-y things I want to explore over the summer - so much time opens up! Enjoy your summer stitching, Bridget, and Happy Crafting! -Anna
All your work is simply beautiful! I wish I could knit as well as you both.
Thanks for your kind words, Kathryn! Carolyn has knit hundreds of projects - so many stitches! Happy Crafting! -Anna
Such a delight to celebrate finishes with you and see your color choice processes. Rainy day here so maybe some stitch time for me. Happy floss tube anniversary as well.
Thanks for the anniversary wishes, Kathie! Hope you had a cozy day stitching! -Anna
Love your podcast, so easy to watch. Lots of info.
So glad you joined us, Brenda! Happy Crafting! -Anna
Fantastic stuff as always.
:) Happy Crafting, Jo! -Anna
I’m still waiting for my Attic order of Emilee Hotchkiss. Seeing your progress and changes was very interesting. Praying it will arrive soon. Happy Stitching.😊
Keeping you company while you wait, Karen. :) Happy Crafting! -Anna
Great video, ladies. You are stitching like crazy. Any action on either of your big Modern Folk Embroidery pieces...I can't wait to see them done. Carolyn, can we expect a tutorial on making a "tile" any time soon. I was going to do some finishing this weekend, but just couldn't get my creative juices flowing enough to tackle it. I get tired of making pillows and wanted to try a tile, but am nervous about the corners. Keep up the good work. I love to see the things you guys stitch.
Hi Sandi! Both of our Fruits of Plenty have been set aside for awhile. I'm sure the determination to finish will return! I'm hoping Carolyn will make a video for all of us - maybe this summer? We always appreciate you hanging out with us and sharing your thoughts! Happy Crafting! -Anna
I got my Jacob Sleeper done this week also…love the coincidence.
You two are inspiring me! I put my piece aside for a bit. Happy Crafting, Karen! -Anna
Love your flosstubes! So creative and fun.
Anna what if you put a flower lying in front of your basket with the head of the flower covering the long side corner? Just a thought!
Thanks for letting us see your beautiful things!
Ruth
Oooh...I hadn't thought of adding a new element - thanks for the idea, Ruth! Happy Crafting! -Anna
Nice work Ladies.
Thanks, Delores! Happy Crafting! -Anna
Thank you for another inspiring video. I'm checking out that place with the salads. I had never heard of it before and it turns out there is one near by me. I bought some of those fabric covered boards and little wooden stands that you recommended. I love them.
IF (Intentional Foods) is the restaurant at which we had the chicken salad. It has an interesting story behind it. I put a link below. So glad the stands are working for you - we think they are such a simple, attractive way to finish. Happy Crafting, Jenny! -Anna

Love your stitched pieces. I just finished my 20017 Fox and Rabbit mystery sampler on 28 ct. fabric 1 over 1. I think hemstitching would be a perfect finish for it. I have the Ginnie Thompson booklet, so i'll have great directions to follow. Thanks for the video!
Go for it! That will be gorgeous. Wishing you "smooth sailing" as you hem stitch! -Anna
On the topic of the off black thread seeming slightly variegated… sometimes I think the linen (being slightly tighter or slightly looser in some areas) gives this sort of effect. I notice “darker” and “lighter” patches, especially on high count linen (I love 56 ct too!), and with dark floss. Just a thought. Love your video as always.
I hadn't considered variation in the linen. Thanks, Alyssa, and Happy Crafting! -Anna
Fun video. Great projects! My experience with Soie Surfine, 100/3, and Gobelins is to use a shorter length of silk and beeswax the ends. I also use a beading needle #10 when using Surfine. You may already be doing this but thought I would let you know my experience.
Thank you so much! I'm still learning what works well for me while using Soie spools. Happy Crafting! -Anna
I also had no luck with mitred corners when lacing. I have watched video with professional finishers and they do not mitre the corners. So I feel ok with the overlap back lacing. I am also very in to the tile finishing which I learned from you guys.
I think it's fun to try different techniques until we find our "comfort zones." Whatever Carolyn is doing, the corners look great! Happy Crafting, Angela! -Anna
I just got back into stitching and you got me wanting to stitch all the birds!
Also, very brave of you to try the grapefruit bubbly... Grapefruit rosé has been a thing in my part of the world for a while now, and it's really not good either. :D
SO many bird patterns out there! Glad to hear you're back into stitching. Looking forward to seeing what you decide to stitch. And - haha - the grapefruit experience was humorous! Happy Crafting, Pitou! -Anna
Anna, I also stitch with out a hoop and use a mix of sewing and poke and stab methods. I really want to try using a frame to see how I like that. Wow 56 count is an amazing feat. I am still struggling with 40 count. 36 is my current comfort count.
Are you interested in trying two-handed stitching in a frame? I've wondered about that. I still love working on 36ct! -A
Do you have a tutorial on assembling a bell pull
Sure don't. Are you going to make one? Happy Crafting, Betsy! -Anna
Can I ask a question? My mom taught me to start right to left and cross over left to right. Is there a right way or a wrong way to do it?
No right way or wrong way. I would say most stitchers just try to be consistent with whichever way they choose. Happy Crafting, Lisa! -Anna
