No, please do NOT wash the stencils !!! Just enjoy the beauty of the paint on the stencils and keep re-using them over and over ! They dry almost instantly right on your table. They are beautiful and perfect for collage too! Glad you came around to this :-) Susanne
I'm only at 4:54 on your video but I'm in my car driving to the grocery store and was just about to pass the post office! I turned in and grabbed 5 tyvek envelopes, what a great idea!
Thanks so much! I wanted to dedicate this video to French artist Francois Gillot who recently passed away at the amazing age of 101, but that deserves a more in depth treatment.
What a great video. Some new and daring stencil shapes. I always come away with inspiration and new ideas. I can’t wait to employ tyvek as a material for stencils. Thanks AW88!
Not sure if others have said this? If you put all of your paint down first and THEN put Tyvek stencils down over the paint that’s on the plate … then your stencils pick up the paint below them and …. They are GORGEOUS! You can use over and over and over and at any point just stop and use them for collage. Then cut new stencils :-)
I love the print made from the two ghost prints and the minimal collage additions. Often, I think I like the effects in the ghost prints more than the first pulls.
Just thought you might like to know that you can die cut Tyvec. I made quite a few masks with circular die cuts of all different sizes. They worked great! Thanks for reminding me of this wonderful material! And I loved that you drew on the gel plate with the Sharpie. Did not know I could do that! 😊
I think this work may be my favorite yet. The colors, the shapes, the brush marks, just the right touches of collage. Wondering what you're thinking about the Tyvek after first use.
You can buy Tyvek paper by the metre or roll here in Australia & definitely worth buying for art play 👍 Canservation Supplies Australia has this information on their website; "Tyvek is made from 100% high density polyethylene fibre which has been spunbound with heat and pressure. It is suitable for wrapping and protecting artefacts, textiles, funiture etc. With a smooth white surface that is durable and flexible, it is resistant against water, chemicals, rot and mildew. This Tyvek will not discolour and is lint free." Cheers 🐨 🐾
Tyvek is so strong. I made windsocks from some. Hung them where they were at mercy of all kinds of weather year round lasted for many years. Using for stencils great idea. My problem is they are so light weight they want to wind around brayers. I will finish watching your video. Maybe you addressed this.
Janene, I am finding this same problem with the stencils I made out of the colored thin plastic subject dividers! I am thinking of making new ones from the heavier plastic…
I often take a photo with my phone as collage placement reminder, and when I try this I'm definitely going to snap a pic of the stencils before applying the paint as a similar reminder!
I think that what the post office was mostly concerned about was people packing items in free Priority Mail boxes and then wrapping those boxes in brown paper and then not shipping those items by Priority Mail. At one time, I remember that a lot of Ebay sellers were doing that.
Fulton , Thank You for sharing this tutorial ! Wonderful final image , inspired . What is the brand and type of paper you are using for printing ? Thanks, Jason
Magnifique ! Je ne suis pas experte encore mais très intéressée par cette technique . Je n’ai pas bien vu quels sont les matières que vous utilisez en dehors des peintures acryliques Merci pour votre réponse
this video was purely experimental. I am not too keen on the material because it is too floppy and difficult to handle. If you want to reuse tyvek you will have to hang it up on a clotheline or dry it on a clean flat surface (neither of which I have, ha ha!)
LOL…how many post offices are going to be out of Tyvek envelopes now? 😂😂❤❤ You can also paint the Tyvek (light glaze looks best IMO) and then take a heat tool to it. It will bubble up and create some great texture for collage. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there.
What is this word free. I looked fie this in small amounts years ago for book binding and could only find big industrial Rolls. I should try the post office again, but free they won't be.
Fulton, I just want to let you know that it is actually illegal to use the envelopes from the Post Office for anything other than sending Priority mail. I know I’m a party pooper, but I do know that they actually prosecute people who have taken the envelopes, although my guess is that they took more than a couple. I save all the priority mail envelopes that receive in the mail and then reuse them instead of discarding them into the landfill.
I love these two and the 2 one is my favourite with the collage touches, thank you for all the knowledge you impart to this 88year old printmaker.
Wow did you say 88? That's my lucky number! 💖🙏🏻
Love it when you're a bit clumsy and messy, makes me feel normal!! Love your work.
reality art tv! 💖💖
Love it when this happens - Sunday morning, & a new video from AW88! Life is good.
37:59 “Oh Fulton - that’s beautiful!
You've got that right ❣️
@@cynthiakammann7368Cynthia, I keep seeing hot air balloons filling the sky! 😊

Amazing artistry 😮 😅😅😅😅
Amazing creativity! ❤️
I make my gelli print on tyvek and make litte bags out of it with zippers and sewing

Ha ha! Talk about perfect timing! 🥰
Love it! No moss grows on you, Karin!🙂
I really like the broken texture of the ghost print, and the subtle collage. Oh, wait, I like the first print, too. Lol.
I love the crisp edge quality of the tyvek! Two beautiful results, Fulton. 🌿
Thanks Kate!
Hallo Whisperer 88 ! Ich genieße deine Arbeit sehr und hab schon viel von dir gelernt! Gruß von Österreich ❤
2 beautiful prints from these stencils, lively conversation between elements and colors! thanks again for a great show ☺

Both prints are keepers. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
You have beautiful hands❤love your work
Thank you so much 😀
Thanks again!
I was watching and thinking if those colors would work out. And they did pretty good. Loved the final result. Thanks ❤
Thanks so much Susana
Love those prints….must pick up some tyvek, when next in US. Fairly often as my daughter lives there! Maybe I’ll request some as a Xmas present…😀
You always have very nice music in the background -- and i rarely like UT vids with music. But your choices are excellent!
Agreed!!
Thanks!
Love the new shaped stencils and bold colors

I was afraid to for the longest time until I saw other artists do it. As long as I knew I could get the stains off, why not !
I think this work may be my favorite yet.
The colors, the shapes, the brush marks, just the right touches of collage.
Wondering what you're thinking about the Tyvek after first use.
after the first use and washing the tyvek stencils they look pretty beat up. but I'll give them another whirl!

Really Beautiful! Thank you
Glad you like it!
I tried this after watching your video and I liked what I made.
So glad it works for you and thanks for watching!
WOW so cool. Thank you.
Wow! Your prints turned out beautifully
Thank you so much!
My favorite!!! Gorgeous!!
I've used "house wrap" for a multitude of things. It takes marbling by shaving foam very nicely.
Tyvek is so strong. I made windsocks from some. Hung them where they were at mercy of all kinds of weather year round lasted for many years.

Two very beautiful prints!
Tyvek is a moisture barrier used as a house wrap
I use lots of pieces on my paper so I count how many I lay down and and check my count when removing. I'm always leaving small ones!😊
Right??? I just cannot seem to find them all! Drives me crazy…
Take a picture before you cover them with paint.@@carolwunsch4546

Very nice
Have you considered using different shaped leaves?
Funny you brought that up. I just received a lovely gift of dried leaves from a viewer who lives in the deserts of Arizona. I'll feature them soon.
Metallic worked well with the softly edged meeting of red and yellow, with blue to mediate.
Fulton did you use your new Blick paper? I was wondering how you like it. The results are wonderful.
Yes I like it a lot. This video however uses Somerset. The next video will feature the Blick paper. So stay tuned!

Merci beaucoup!
What is your writing instrument? Marker?
Its a Sharpie (brand name) permanent maker pen. Available in most office supply and hardware stores.
Is tyvek reusable? Thanks!

I still think that my plastic dividers are FAR superior! Washable, strong and comes in assorted colors for easy removal. Not too thrilled about tyvek.
I am always spilling stuff 🤣
Fulton, I just want to let you know that it is actually illegal to use the envelopes from the Post Office for anything other than sending Priority mail. This is true. I worked at the post office years ago.
I think if they have been used, it’s not illegal.
Okay, so we should start using them to trade mail with our friends! 😅
Ha ha I’m sure if enough people take them they’ll no longer be free. 🤣🙈
I'm underwhelmed by it, I would rather use stiff plastic folders for a couple of dollars at the school supplies aisle
what is the board your working on?
the printing bed was a gift from a viewer who wished ro remain anonymous. Please watch th-cam.com/video/kZp6vtwpC_s/w-d-xo.html
