Your Manor Lords series has made me realize that the village in Slovakia where my grandparents live is an absolute classic example of a Strassendorf. One long street with fields behind the houses. It always was a little joke in my youth that the village only had one street. In recent years this has changed a lot, with new houses developing behind the existing row. Including my grandparents plot of land that used to be fields but now some of my cousins are building their home there. Anyway just felt like sharing that.
Keep up the videos! I really enjoy you using historical aspects to develop all these villages and I have learned quite a lot.

If you build a village right around a pond you don't have a pond, you have a septic tank...

If you have a large heavily armored combat vehicle with a cannon, and if it questions everything, then you have a skeptic tank

to be honest in the future I hope they will add fishing mechanism on the river, because the usage of the river I think had a lot of potential in this game (transportation for merchant or irrigation) not just as decoration or border :v

About the tavern: The level 2 tavern was added in the pre-release. Greg also changed the model for the (now) level 1 tavern. The stone well is also new, btw. There used to only be the wooden counter weight version.

I live in Rome and in the mountains nearby we have a little town called Subiaco, which literally means Sub-Lacum, under the lakes, because it has three small ponds fed by the Aniene River. These ponds were very important to the Benedictine monks (who btw built a magnificent monastery there carved in the side of the mountain) because they set up fish farms there, and as i understand those are indeed a pretty common sight in early medieval monastic communities, at least in Italy. I hope they'll eventually introduce those to the game.

Oh and those fish farms are still used today.

Monasteries would be amazing. They could produce wine (since beer is already made elsewhere) or something elite like that, in return for higher food consumption (from providing free accommodation and meals for travellers)

I'm new to the channel. I started with one of your recent videos and was so hooked that I went back to watch all the previous episodes of this series. I really enjoy how you provide the historical context. I also enjoy gaming videos, which can be educational as well.

18:00 moving a tiny market (one stall) and then upgrading a small roadside shrine to a church? I have to say, that does in fact sound very realistic.

FYI be careful with the butcher and ABSOLUTELY set limits for BOTH the lambs and goats. These guys are bloodthirsty and will decimate your livestock given the chance.
I was really happy to learn about the pond interactions. Makes sense now that you say it but definitely would not have considered it.

What I believe that may be created the pound is that in a relative raining season in the past the river overfloaded, reaching this small place and bringing the fishes were the water filled. After the raining season was over the fishes brought by the river became landlocked in this small pound as the waters recess, creating its own ecosystem in insulation

11:25 In that region you could focus more on Vegetables and Apples to sustain the population and be able to afford a great manor. I can already envision it! Btw Honey could be an option too as the tooltip is wrong and you can build multiple bee hives that still yield extra results. Would be exciting to see as - if i remember correctly - you yet did not use these kinds of foods so much

I hope in a future update, instead of using the fishing rods to catch fish, the animate throwing the nets into the pond and pulling them back out. Keep the fishing rods for ice fishing.

      @lukeueda-sarson6732 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Muscovy's major export to the west at this time was fur pelts, and this was mostly by river and then, as you got further to the west, by land routes (Russia didn't have access to the Baltic at this point). The point of this village is to line one such trade route, and profit thereby.

This is all wrong, the game has no soul because there is only 1 AI opponent.
All other development work should cease until there is some actual strategy in the game.

It's fine if you want to play war games, but don't say a game has no soul and development should be halted because it's not. It's a different genre to what you want, that's on you for not identifying that and complaining about it.

Not upgrading your church? What sort of impiety is this? ;)
Very nice village though. Stattendorf if I'm hearing right?
I always like these dives you do, as they remind me of my own homeland and how (even though it is settled far more recently timeline wise) a lot of similar considerations come up. The village that spawned on the trade road. And how those villages would eventually wither when the Freeway system in America took off and created new bypasses (and new roadside towns to service it). Those places like that pond that were exploited, but exploited carefully because the locals knew that well... they needed it and if it went away that was that. And how little removed we really are from that era in just how and why we do the things we do and what design elements changed or stayed the same.

@@hitomisalazar4073 "Straßendorf" literally = 'road village' is this form of settlement called . Its quite common for smaller villages in Germany. And its kind about right what you said. I grew up in a place like this.... We have had a sawmill company next village, one of the bigger kind where some of my family members worked, they got timber delivered from all of europe, a lot from scandinavia. And this old mainstreet was way too narrow for the daily continous stream of heavy vehicles , all the trucks of 40 tons transporting a load of 40 metre long trees sometimes , the street and the narrow strip of pedestrial road next to it was always full of little branches and pieces of tree bark. The trucks and the heavy car traffic were probably the reason nobody lived in those cozy little half timbered houses of two or three stories that still stood directly next to the street. It must have been nerve-racking and the old windows must have been vibrating all the time, the truck came day and night... when i was little some of them were still occupied by old people that lived there for half a century or more and for generations , but they have all died by now, and the newer generations have completly different standards and prefer modern houses over risky real estate on unfavourable plots . The trucks felt like snakes crawling through cracks benath some rocks next to these houses. sadly there is a tendence in smaller villages for them to fall into despair disrepsir and finally get demolished in contrast to the otherwise strictly legal protection of cultural heritage seen in historical german cities ( if they have not been bombed in the great war) . For me its a crime. Imagine you grow Up in a village, that has been around for over 500-1000 years and people just start to demolish or disrespect the legacy of those early settlers..
