Dom mentioned it but it's actually such a big deal. Letting a guest talk and as a host just listening. He let jack and thorin talk for like 30min and that was the perfect thing to do. Minor detail that matter so much in a good podcast
loco would let the guest and thorin talk too. but the issue was, it was about stuff that Loco is supposed to be an expert on. Thorin understands that Dom isn't going to know everything about contract law. He would get mad at Loco because they would have guests come on talking about the finals of a region and loco would be like "i don't want to talk about things I'm not comfortable about" and then thorin would end up just hosting an entire show series on locodoco's channel. Listen Loco became thorin's show. The Crackdown is still Dom's show. He controls the structure of it and he books the guests and he guides the conversation because Dom cares about making it a product that will reflect well on him.

Probably the best, or at least my favorite, episode of the crackdown so far. Especially since I want to get into the business/player acquisition, development, and coaching aspect of League. This made me want to be a part of cloud 9s organization and Im a TL fan lol
Why its so exciting about this C9 is that they finally got a taste of a championship, that they've been in 9 finals and won 3 years ago, and everyone on the team is hungry to keep winning itll drive them to keep improving and can actually challenge internationally
chill I mean I’m sure regi is great at flaming at this point, we all saw that old vid thorin retweeted that tsm deleted with regi calling other players on other teams ‘5 faggots’
I used to dislike Dom, because of his streaming persona. But with content like that, with really respectful host and deep insides. You got yourself new subscriber and I hope you will continue to amaze me.
Dom: "the first owner in our show" okay. If he is the first... you know who is next: Some G2 owner who prints his face on bodypillows. Banter. Banter everywhere!
Have not watched any of Dom's content really ever, as I never cared for him due to his often toxic behavior on stream. I have to say though, when asking Jack these questions and bouncing topics off of Thooorin, Dom seems as happy as ever. Just to see the glint of smile as he proposes questions to Jack shows how excited he is to be doing such a show. Really inspires me to create content related to the League esports world, and I am glad to see that he is enjoying himself so much! Thanks for putting this out, Dom!
Bunny Fufuu was the reason I started supporting C9 years ago. It was his first split with C9. I wanted to play Thresh. He came up. I watched him for C9. My friend already supported them so it was an even easier shift. Really gutted he never got picked over Smoothie.
Thorn reminds me of Stephen A Smith where he talks over the guest and its almost more about him. Dom reminds me of Dan Patrick. Not on his level yet, but listens to the Guests and and asks follow up questions that are relevant . Thorn isn't bad. He just a different type of interviewer. That sometimes could shut it up with the overexplanation of things. That all said, this was a great interview with Jack. I do wish that someone would have brought the amount of team control over players and the balance of the free will. Dom was close at touching it with the trouble of team houses. I think Jack was answering it but more in the context of the team controls everything of the player. I would be curious of how they let the individuals also be individuals. Part of the reason why teams moved away from team houses. Very interesting interview 5 stars
Savitra Sapre I was thinking the same when he said they sat them down and asked what priority picks and matchups they wanted and they had no clue what’s good? Like they aren’t stupid players, it seemed a bit odd
@@Danielrivera-uk7zx I can believe Jack's statement. ZZ has said in a different interview that when he and Sneaky played together they both were very passive people who would take bad matchups so other teammates could get resources. He said that looking at it with hindsight. It is very plausible that with the meta the way it was that both of them really didnt know what was very good. We also dont have the context of when this question was asked. Maybe it was asked during a tournament where Jack said a lot of the team would lose focus and play other games. Maybe they didnt actually know what was good bc they were not spending a lot of time in Soloq like they were during the regular split and if they started to 50/50 a lot of scrims it could call into question a lot of what they thought was good.
1:50:00 I’d argue the opposite. The barrier of entry to CS:GO is “left click to shoot stuff while aiming at their head”. League has soooooo much more to know to even attempt to play the game. Items exist, creeps give gold, 4 abilities, summoner spells, towers hurt but you gotta kill them, “stay behind your minions”... sure being good at CS:GO is a bit more complex than just “shoot”, but...entry barrier rlly isn’t
what about cs;go movement, crosshair placement, knowing a lot of smoke/nades lineups and understanding of economy? CSGO entry level is quite high compared to league, because learning spray patterns at the start is very hard
@@jacekrak6327 I went into my first few hours of CS:GO with only one piece of advice from a friend: "holding knife knife makes you run fast". the basic controls were extremely intuitive, even tho it was my first shooter. Every game that uses any kind of ranged weapon in first or third person that I ever touched used LMB to shoot, RMB to aim, and WASD to move. Spray patterns and nade spots are faaaaaar beyond "barrier of entry". what I'd define as barrier of entry is "hold crosshair on enemy head and press LMB". Economy on a very basic level is self explanatory after 2 or 3 rounds. You get money each round. if you spend a lot now, you might not get enough to buy the weapon you want next round. You don't even need to know how much gold exactly a round gives and what exactly it depends on. Just like knowing which type of creep gives what amount of gold in league isn't "barrier of entry". Barrier of entry is being able to play the game at a very fundamental level, which in CS:GO includes knowing which button shoots people, knowing the objective of the game (disarm or plant and defend), knowing which button plants the bomb, knowing which button disarms the bomb, and that's it.
I watched so much of lol related content and this show is literally the one time I felt like I actually learned something instead of just getting entertained. Don't get me wrong just entertainment is fine, but if you can combine both, even better.
This show works great because Dom and Thorin are free to talk about anything. There arent designated topics to talk about, they are free to flow as they like. Obviously Dom and Thorin have certain things that they want to talk about with their guest, but they seem to be more genuine when they kind of free flow their show.
Except for his Gold promo's apparently. Honestly, though him working on getting his players Equity made me respect Cloud-9 more than any other org out there. Adding worker-ownership to e-sports is something straight off of a wish-list I didn't know I had for these teams.
I feel thats the difficult part for C9, getting good in comparison to international teams. NA is just no good competition, so its hard for them to see their mistakes and places to improve. I hope they have a really good showing at worlds. Ill support Fnatic and G2 first but C9 is one of my most favourite teams internationally. I hope they really do well :)
When they reach the "esports actually profits from Covid-19, since all the big leagues are suspended" point, I instantly thought: Remember that some players actually wanted to cancel the LCS Spring Split due to the virus? They obviously didnt think "hey, being the only SPORTS that can be watched right now, might be big for us..."
@MasterSwagKing Entertainment I'm simply making an obervation that his mindset that what he thinks they should be doing doesn't work for all players and its kinda ridiculous to me that he would assume it would. There was no need for name calling lmao
@MasterSwagKing Entertainment ah I see. I suppose that's true but I still think his mindset is still one that could hamper players as much as help them.
@@stevenmcqueen7433 no, it's not that he assumed that everyone needs to do things a certain way to succeed. they literally addressed that people do things in different ways and cloud9 lets them (i.e. licorice not grinding solo queue but doing 1v1's and practice tool instead). the reason jack kept bringing that up is that the old players kept losing focus towards the end of the split which was reflected in all their second place finishes and a roughly 30% drop in scrim winrate after they secured their playoff spot. the "playing path of exile and wow instead of league" was a symptom of the old c9 teams losing focus so jack was always on the lookout for the same symptoms popping up.
I feel like the team house is a win more thing. Like if you all like eachother then it'll go great but if someone isn't holding their weight it'll go terrible really quick
There are always gonna be professional anyone that is overpaid, but that does not just mean the market of a certain professional league is just gonna tank. If it did tank it would be due to something game related or viewership related. It would not be due to paying players x amounts.

Get regi on so he can explain what he said to Akaadian that hurt his confidence
chill I mean I’m sure regi is great at flaming at this point, we all saw that old vid thorin retweeted that tsm deleted with regi calling other players on other teams ‘5 faggots’
This was one of the best episodes of the Crackdown yet.
Really good video! Hopefully you can get more org owners to the Crack down, this was a really good episode!
Thanks for the episode. I was really impressed by Jack. That's a bummer that C9 got rid of their DotA team.
dom is becoming a better and better host between each ep.
Holy shit! Only 25 mins into this one so far and I think it might already be my favorite episode yet!
Also god damn, Jack is a fuckin amazing guest!
"Sneaky English" love it LMAO
Great show dom! I learned so much about league and business today.
I used to dislike Dom, because of his streaming persona. But with content like that, with really respectful host and deep insides. You got yourself new subscriber and I hope you will continue to amaze me.
This is such a fucking great and insightful talk with Jack. Love this sort of content.
Dom: "the first owner in our show"
okay. If he is the first... you know who is next: Some G2 owner who prints his face on bodypillows.
Banter. Banter everywhere!
Poxi this. I would love Grabbz on here, and I wish we could get someone with really good LCK and LPL perspective
I don't think the OP meant Grabbz my dude^^
,,I love my team" ~ Jack Etienne
quotes like this make this whole video-game genre a real sport
Long time C9 fan, loved this interview!
Great podcast, really well made and entertaining.
Best league podcast hands down. I love hotline league but it's a meme compared to this content
@MasterSwagKing Entertainment no
Have not watched any of Dom's content really ever, as I never cared for him due to his often toxic behavior on stream.
Excellent episode. Would have liked to hear a bit more about Jack's experience negotiating with European players.
Bunny Fufuu was the reason I started supporting C9 years ago. It was his first split with C9. I wanted to play Thresh. He came up. I watched him for C9. My friend already supported them so it was an even easier shift. Really gutted he never got picked over Smoothie.
Dom and Thorin. The Duo. The Legends.
This was fantastic. Great content.
When do they talk about caps ?
Timestamps would be great
I think it s around the 38th minute
39:47 Caps
I am ready for the LS podcast
There already was one...
@@haklbarry2 Nah the Grooming the Draft show
Thorn reminds me of Stephen A Smith where he talks over the guest and its almost more about him.
Very interesting interview 5 stars
great episode
Best league podcast ever man great job
This was an amazing episode so many good topics
You are a good guy Jack, it was a smart move coming on this show because it puts you in a different light buddy.
17:53
That was hilarious Dom. Felt bad that the joke flew over their heads.
Really good episode. Jack was great, really cool to get the owners side of things.
Have you applied for the podcast to be on other platforms such as sportify?
the crackdown crack has arrived lets goooo
dom any chance you can put time stamps
Thanks for saving my quarantine dom god bless my guy
this episode is so goddamn good
Amazing podcast.
Great episode my favourite till now.
@1:22:45 Jack is talking about Meteos, he couldn't stand Zeyzal.
Except for he’s talking about BunnyFuFu..
@@SleepeyBoi he literally isnt lol
John Senne except his literally saying he had to send bunny home not Zeyzal but okie bud
@@SleepeyBoi are you deaf???????
Z 😂
Great episode!!
jack says "win win for everybody" in Zeyzal situation. I refuse to believe that they just said, "Oh I have no idea what's good in the game". lol.
Barrier of entry is being able to play the game at a very fundamental level, which in CS:GO includes knowing which button shoots people, knowing the objective of the game (disarm or plant and defend), knowing which button plants the bomb, knowing which button disarms the bomb, and that's it.
this was one of the best shows I would say
Talking about Jensen, I really missed him and would've liked Jensen to be C9's franchise player.
Best ep hands down.
Really good episode.
My god this was fucking awesome.
@IWDominate can you post onto spotify for my morning commute x
I watched so much of lol related content and this show is literally the one time I felt like I actually learned something instead of just getting entertained. Don't get me wrong just entertainment is fine, but if you can combine both, even better.
Great episode.
Yo Dom do you have any plans on making a Magic podcast?
1:41:42 is everyone going to skip over the fact that Thorin asked if Dom was someone Jack would sign and then he gets signed to C9 LOL
IWD rocking those crack eyes. Hot 🔥
This show works great because Dom and Thorin are free to talk about anything. There arent designated topics to talk about, they are free to flow as they like. Obviously Dom and Thorin have certain things that they want to talk about with their guest, but they seem to be more genuine when they kind of free flow their show.
It‘s here , yeees. Love ya dom
Jack wins in game and out of the game.
Except for his Gold promo's apparently.
Honestly, though him working on getting his players Equity made me respect Cloud-9 more than any other org out there. Adding worker-ownership to e-sports is something straight off of a wish-list I didn't know I had for these teams.
Great show
Did you just do this to me ? upload the Crackdown right before i wanted to go to bed lol :O my plans ruined now
Dom you are my favorite crackhead, great content man.
Too early, no timestamps yet. I'll be back.
Hahahaha same
same dude ill come back when they are ready
@@Shapola1 reply to let you know there are timestamps now, but its an episode thats pretty interesting all the way through :)
"When we benched jensen he went from a d4 player to a chad top-challenger player in 2 weeks" HAJHJAHJA ffs so true.
I love Thorin! And i think i also started loving Jack. Hes views are awesome!
"playing path of exile and world of warcraft and doing everything but what they should" idk seems to work for wunder pretty well
Not everyone has Wunder's talent and skill.
Like if you all like eachother then it'll go great but if someone isn't holding their weight it'll go terrible really quick
its a really good thing they dropped sneaky best decision of his life
Bunnyfufu is the reason I main Thresh.
There are always gonna be professional anyone that is overpaid, but that does not just mean the market of a certain professional league is just gonna tank. If it did tank it would be due to something game related or viewership related. It would not be due to paying players x amounts.
Jack is hands down the best owner in LCS, only rivaled by Ocelote in the west
