      Actually I think no one really missed this detail. However, if you argue that this is not a filler episode, then unfortunately you also have to say that it has been one of the worst “mainstory” episodes, because in the end nothing happens in this episode except that they wake up this walker, but instead of showing interest in it, they destroy it and don't say a single word about what just happened. I mean, how much off "I don’t give a shit about my surroundings" energy you must have to kill an ancient walker and then not say a single word about what that could be, to wich ancients it belongs to or why he was switched off. Not even tech, who is usually the one interested in technology, has honoured the runner even one look after they destroyed it. I think the fact that the zeffo have now also been integrated into the Star Wars universe in other ways very interesting, but the implementation was very disappointing.

    I am in awe of how some people can connect all the story lines in Star Wars. Books, movies, series, cartoons, comics, video games…. Ive enjoyed the movies and TV series along with Bad Batch so far, but some of you have delved into every aspect of SW lore. It makes my head spin.
    How the people creating all these interconnected story lines do it is beyond me.

    To me that "jewell" seemed to be something more like a key/switch and a giant fuse at the same time. It melted because when it was put back on to turn the machine off, the weapon system was already charged and ready to shoot, with the "jewell" interrupting the electical circuit all that energy got discharged into it.

    • @StarWarsFanatic
      @StarWarsFanatic  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      It absolutely was a key! Circuit connector. But Kyber crystals are also needed to power a lightsaber. And look how valuable they are.
      Also, this wasn’t likely the first time the machine was activated and shut off. Why didn’t the key melt then?

      What i understood from it was that it was in the heart, the removed it, and had to return it to the head. I think it melted and just reformed back in the heart, ready to be reactivated, unbeknownst to the team. I believe this because i dont think that those are the same port that the crystal was plugged into. I think they originally pulled it from where the heart of the “creature” would be, as it was on a strut type think or maybe connections for the legs or something, which was connected to nothing but the walls. They then returned it into a port that appeared to be on a wall. I get that the creature was oriented differently before, but there would have been a wall where the treasure lady was standing if it were the same area. So i think it may be used and maybe controlled by someone else

    • @CC-Sixes

      @@StarWarsFanatic it melted this time because the weapon was at full charge and just about to fire, that’s really the only thing to take away from that, I’m sure if it was done last second like that before, it would have melted as well, which leads me to assume it hasn’t been shut off last second before.

    I am one of those who thought the episode was filler and I actually still think that, but I am glad for those who enjoyed this episode.
    Speaking personally for myself, I just think the interest in Bad Batch is exploring how the clones reacted to their sense of purpose during a time when they are being phased out. I think this is such a provocative concept to see played out, that anything that is a huge departure from that makes me wish to go back to that central theme.
    Anyways, it is what it is. I still love the show.

    My thoughts on the "guardian" ... it wasn't a guardian. It was a "Destroyer". The ancient Zeffo sent that mechanized monster to exterminate all those mini-ZillowBeast things. It was like a DeathStar-ROOMBA killer to make the place eventually habitable by something. And...well, maybe for a time it worked, but ultimately it failed. Life found a way. After viewing this video, consider my opinion of "Entombed" converted as well...definitely, a connection that I failed to recognize. Two observations that I made were that the episode started out with a World Between World vibe, particularly due to the music and the need to solve a puzzle to gain entry, but then when it was revealed that they had entered a large, destructive mech device, the episode then shifted to more of a Zilo Beast vibe, except a mechanized one.

Phee didn't have enough details lying about what or who made 'The Heart of the Mountain' (unfortunately, she's a treasure hunter, not an archeologist) she only knows that's it's there and it's super ancient. My problem to this episode that not everyone knows nor played Jedi Fallen Order involving to this episode. This is why we need an OR/HSW/Pre-GR/HR series. This episode demonstrates that the cycle of war is an never-ending motif and reality in the Star Wars universe. Giving us relics and weapons left over after those wars with myths and legends forming around them in the vast stretches of rebuilding and healing plays on Lucas's thoughts on the universe, "It's like poetry; it rhymes," as well as reintroducing us to the EU with the words of Jolee Bindo, "Malak is a tyrant who should be stopped. If he conquers the galaxy, we're in for a couple of rough centuries. Eventually it'll come around again, but I'd rather not wait that long. So we do what we have to do and we try to stop the Sith. But don't start thinking this war, your war, is more important than any other war just because you're in it."

    Finally someone else brought this up. Thank you. One other small thing I bring up to prove this episode technically isn't filler is that Echo has a line at the start that refers to the last treasure hunt attempt at Dooku's Palace in Serenno, connecting this episode to the first 2, ergo it's not filler. This was some set up for something else and primarily an introductory episode to the character Phee, who may yet be the Batch's new source of income, something that they need that since the debt's already been paid.
    Is it still at least borderline filler? Maybe. But the season isn't even halfway done yet! People just need to do what SW keeps saying: "Have Patience." Can't wait to see what the payoffs for this and Faster will be, if any.

  • @teejay1035
    @teejay1035 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great perspective. Didn't get into Fallen Order so that connection was a new element for me.
    I saw some other threads in this eposode. As a stand alone episode I took a great deal of joy from it. It was like Filoni baked a classic animated SW mission of the week leavened with A bit of from a Matthew Reilly novel, Indiana Jones, kaiju, Tolkein, etc.
    I think some critical paths were laid down here. The first four episodes laid down the start points and motivations of the Batch, Crosshair, Cody and Cid. Now we begin moving from that point and they are now in the early stages of naturally growing apart. A regular mission was the best vehichle to signal this because everday routine often highlights these tensions with real life families. Plus, we know from TCW that Filoni's arcs and connections are not just worked within series but right across the entirety of the show's life, even in future series we are yet to see. Hunter's general 'I'm getting too old for this sort of thing' vibe links back to that clone who retired to a farming life (can't recall his name but TBB S1 and a couple of TCW eps - SWM drew this link the other day)
    Cid and Kashyyk will be interesting. The racing episode was meant to signal that Cid wasn't to be trusted. The Batch siding with the Wookies may well displease Cid as Trendojian, leading her to sell them out, triggering Palps to leverage the Kashyyk uprising to his political advantage, using the TBB's actions to demonatrate the clones are traitors just like their Jedi generals and therefore a security risk. This will in turn trigger the clone uprising as the season climax.
    Just an idea about how I see it playing out from here. Let's see how it goes.
    I also like these mission-of-the-week episodes as a vehicle to de-risk introducing new planets, species, and characters.

    You are right...i thought it was filler, but the way u had explained it...i definitely now have a better appreciation to the episode. I have a question though...is the Zeffo responsible for the World between Worlds? • @StarWarsFanatic
      @StarWarsFanatic  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That’s an interesting question. Rebels was made before Jedi Fallen Order, but someone had to have been feeding the developers information and the story group had to approve it.
      That being said, would it not stand to reason that the temple on Lothal may have also been of Zeffo origin? Granted, there are no guardians of Zeffo present but we don’t know if those were cleared out or even the temple being approved by the Zeffo for Jedi use. The interior architecture looks similar. Just a thought.

They don’t even seem to be considering that the monstrous machine was guarding anything, or served any purpose. • @shadowminor

    I think it is also possible that the machine could have been a remnant of the Zeffo civil war and the chamber leading to it was created by the winning side to guard it. The heart was like a restraining bolt keeping it dormant. The damage on the planet was the result of the war and there may be other machines buried around the planet.
