Someone suggested instead of having an engagement party to have a stock the bar party where everyone brings a little something to help the bar and then you don't have to buy a bunch of alcohol 🙃

Jamie- I love you and your videos, but this budget is totally unrealistic for venue, catering. & alcohol! There is no way way you can stay within these numbers unless your doing a backyard wedding. If you get married at a resort every single thing you have mentioned is way, way more!!

My budget is around 30k and I have the master plan. I thought I wanted an all inclusive but food was like 90$ per person and drinks 40-50 per person. That’s about 25000 for 150 people with taxes and fees and nope. And that includes basically all hotels, etc. so after seeing that we are deciding on going with a venue that you have all of the tables, chairs, linens, etc included in fee and then do catering and alcohol on the side.

I’d love to hear you talk about how budget can change when you include things like welcome drinks, going away brunch, rehearsal dinner, etc. I’m not getting married soon but I just helped my SiL go through the whole thing and would love to see how that would balance out.

This is great however still missing some categories at least for me, my fiance and I are saying that anything going towards the wedding is included in the cost (we have to pay for over the next 7 months) including rehearsal dinner, tipping the vendors, officiant fee, gifts to the party and families, and so much more. I’m overwhelmed, but we got this!!

When one of my cousins got married 20 years ago, I remember her wedding cost around $5,000 and my mom actually thought it cost too much. I told her how much the average wedding, even back then, costed $20k and she was shocked lol. I think it's because most weddings in my family tend to be on the cheaper side because so much of the family pitches in to help with the wedding from decor to the food. I recall that my cousin's wedding was one of the rare few times when a wedding planner was involved and the fact she used a big venue (that's where most of the money went). I was a bridemaid so I did have some insight to that particular wedding. I am just glad my cousin went to David's Bridal for the bride's maid dresses and I am grateful that my parents bought my dress, seeing how I was still in college, oi lol.

I live in San Diego, I have yet to find an all inclusive venue for under $20,000. Do you have any links to venues in San Diego that are typically $5,000 or less? Cuz with inflation it should be about $10,000 now and I’ll take it

I wanna point out about basic invite that the invites are cheaper the more you buy. I am only getting 100 and that makes it around 200$. For 99 cents you have to buy like 500 invitations.

I planned a wedding for $20,000 but the original budget was $12,000. We had no DJ and no booze. The venue really messed up with the sound system, but everything else went really well. I even had multiple people tell me the next time they saw me that I should consider being a wedding planner! Which was a surprise because I've never planned ANY party before. Not even a small dinner party at my own house. But I knew what my vision was for our wedding and I worked tirelessly to get the details just right. That was 3 months ago.
Edit: Actually, there were a few places where I wanted to cut costs but my husband or father convinced me to get the better option and spend the money. Another reason the budget went up was that my father kept adding to the guest list. So he wound up helping us out. He even paid the additional cost for the "artisinal" wedding cake designer. It was a beautiful Harry Potter cake with a snitch on top as per my husband's request.

It's so insane how much a wedding costs! I mean, I get it, but still! We were gifted my dress and his suit by our parents, are doing minimal decor because the venue is a beaut, and have very cheap options for DJ, photographer, and possibly videographer through family and friends, and we'll still spend between €15-18k. Madness. But I'm so looking forward to the day :D

I'm planning my wedding and our budget changed from 10k to 20k and with the way this is set to how much you should spend per category is almost impossible here in Canada.
I wish I could find something or someone like this that can give me a better idea on budgeting here in Canada.

I remember thinking that we’d want a professional tiered cake but I hate fondant. I looked at my options, crunched the numbers, and we save over $1,000 by having a cupcake table instead and most people are more likely to eat cupcakes than slices of cakes. So rethinking things is sometimes a major money saver

Thank you so much Jamie, perfect timing! We got engaged in May and started with a $15k budget but after doing some research realized it wasn’t exactly feasible to get what we wanted. We’re in DFW, TX and venues in particular are expensive. We have family helping us some, and we planned the wedding for October 2023 to give us more time to plan and save so that allowed us to expand the budget to closer to $20k and splurge in a few areas that are priorities to us (Venue, DJ, Catering). I initially thought a $10k budget would be possible but for us and our priorities it wasn’t in the cards unfortunately.

Jamie, I need your help! I feel like I see a lot of examples online of a lot of stuff on a reception table and I want to keep costs low and not buy a bunch of things just for this day but also don't want the tables to look too empty. Also, circle tables are common but Pinterest seems only interested in rectangle tables lol... Can you give some tips on how to know the right balance of decor/not too empty? Also, how do you make basic circle tables look good? I am so lost

Hey Jamie. I started watching your videos when my husband and I were having our 10 year Vow renewal. Now my sister is getting married and I am helping her coordinate her wedding. I'm going to be her matron of honor and also her wedding coordinator. It's going to be a very small wedding in my backyard. I love watching your videos you've been so helpful with my vow renewal and now her wedding. I am so sad that after her wedding I'm not going to have any reason to watch your videos anymore. Would it be weird for me to keep watching even though I have no reason to LOL.

seeing you talk about drop catering for a 20k budget puts my budget into perspective real fast. We are saving so much money on the venue and the dress that I figured we could hire someone for catering. I kept getting the quote of 15-25 per person and that was still too high for us. I think I got scared away from catering from your last videos about it lol I thought this is an area that someone else should take from us... Now seeing that we might have to either expand our budget or change catering method.
