Why is this song not in every alcohol & drug program? This is what us real addicts need to hear. Depending on how long you've been down this road, we all slip some time. But that's OK cuz sooner or later YOU WILL GET IT! And listen to this song, it comes from experience.
I'm in active addiction right now and I listen to this song cuz it eases my guilt and gives me hope I feel like no one understands how hard it actually is unless they've been through it and everyone experiences it differently so even then it's not always the same, makes me feel less alone

For me personally, I have to know that my relapse was never an accident. I made a choice to use again that first time. Yes, addiction is an illness I have, and it took over, but only AFTER I made that initial choice to go back.
BUT, this song is unbelievable. It's awesome. Someone else commented that it helps them deal with the guilt. I also have to remember definitions of words, cause I happen to be a very literal person. It's just how I am. Guilt is knowing I did a "bad" thing. For example: making that choice to use again the first time. I know after that first time I'm hooked back in and I no longer have a choice. I'm sick again. Shame though? Shame is believing I'm a bad person because I did a bad thing. Guilt vs Shame. I used to feel so ashamed that I relapsed. Now, with 9 months and 12 days clean again, I do still feel guilt, but no shame.

After many years of struggling with my addiction I have finally put away my demons. I relapsed after considerable time being clean. In jail I detoxed and then I remembered this song. I knew it was time for me to get clean or I would die. Nikki Sixx has been a idol since I was 15 yrs old ( 1983). I believe he writes music that speaks to me. His understanding is what a addict like me needs. I have been clean a couple yrs now. Thanks Sixx A.M...

The line 'I hear that you slipped again' is so goddamn true for everyone suffering from addiction. If only people who are lucky enough to not be fighting this hell took the time to educate themselves about the mind of an addict and how we are wired differently from others.... Like smokers, drinkers, junk food addicts we don't have a switch that we can automatically turn off. We slip, we blip, it's part and parcel of our recovery so I wish when I slip that my so called support system wouldn't threaten to turn their back on me. This song is so beautiful. Picks me up sometimes, always makes me want to cry.
The first time I heard this song I cried my fucking eyes out. I've slipped more than once not only with cutting but prescription painkillers too. I did it for 2 whole years, started when I was 17 and I was strong enough to get help on my own at 19, after I voluntarily admitted myself into the psych ward. At the time I did those things I had no one there, I only recently heard this song and wished I had heard it each time I slipped. But now that I have heard it, it helps me and let's me know that I'm not alone in case I end up slipping again. I'm 24 now and in those years I've slipped twice.

I was ALMOST a year clean from self harm but I messed up. I fell asleep listening to my playlist last night and at 2 in the morning I randomly woke up and the line 'I hear that you be slipped again, I'm here cuz I know you need a friend' was playing, and wow! I love this song🖤

This song is so what I needed to hear... Nikki Sixx I can only hope we both stay clean. It only takes one relapse to die and we both belong here. I send this out to my daughter who is going thru it at its very worst and I'm hoping something let's her see the light. It's not a life worth living.

This song always speaks to me as someone that is recovered from Self Harm and Bulimia. It lets me know even if I have a relapse it is ok, it happens but it doesn't mean I am horrible as recovery is never linear.

Nikki has turned something horrible in his past and used it for something positive. Maybe we can all learn from this and stay away from things that are destructive and stay with the positive.
That’s true Nikki Sixx used to be going through a lot of tough times in his past life but he got through it all and stayed strong and positive and he’s recovering from it still he’s a better person from it now though that’s good job for Nikki for be strong and brave like that. He’s very talented and inspiring and amazing musician as well as he is an awesome and amazing person in general and he’s also very funny and he’s got such amazing cool style though. I looked up to Nikki Sixx and his two very cool awesome bands SixxAM and Mötley Crüe throughout my whole life growing up with their music and and their inspiring words.

I first discovered this true fuckin gem of a song in 2008 . And this is the first time in a long time I’m back here again. This is probably the exact video that moves me wayyyyy back then. And it hits way harder now that I’m an adult and not some dumb fuckin teenager that thinks he knows Everything. Life’s better now, but I just got one issue,,, how is this fucking masterpiece not at 1 lil views?!; I mean at least 1 fucking mil. What the shit. Songs like this? And dig by incubus are literally lyrical lifesavers. I’m so happy I discovered and came back to this. I love this track.

This is perhaps one of the best songs I have ever heard by an artist that is relatively unheard of. I've just heard of them recently thanks to a local rock radio station that I listen to all of the time and this is perhaps my favorite rock band except for maybe Rise Against. If Nikki Sixx keeps helping them, I believe that they will become known soon.

While I do not have a SUD, I have empathy for most (not all) individuals who struggle with any type of addiction.
Honestly, it depends on what was done when the individual reverted back into their addiction.
