  • This is my review of the Beyerdynamic DT1990 Pro. It’s a really well built headphone. Sound is precise and detailed. Comes with a nice overall package with a nice case, two sets of pads that alter the sound, and two different cables to choose from based on your preference / situation. If you can find a set for around $350 and are looking for a very neutral / analytical headphone, I think this is a good option to look at. For $650…. Don’t, you can find them on sale new for as low as $449, and these things are tanks. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy on the used market.

    One tip in changing the pad is to warm up the rubber ring on the pads with a hair dryer. It makes the the rubber more supple and slides on to headphone more easily! Also I much preffered the balanced pads compared to the analytical. It sounds great using my Graham Slee Solo UL DE headphone amp. Personally I prefer it to my HD660s. Nice review though!

    I preferred my 660S as well. The clamp is fierce on these. The sound is amazing, but the treble is too much for me. Keep up the great work!

    Hey... I recognize that headphone! ;)
    Yea I preferred the DT 1990 with the Dekoni Fenestrated Sheepskin pads. It provided a bit more sound stage width and added comfort. They sound similar to the balance stock pads as well.

    Got a pair for $280 so regardless of sound quality preference, I’m happy :)

      Slap some dekoni pads on it, and it will feel brand new. Assuming you purchased used ofc.

    Yeah, balanced pads miss in vocals. It's can be heared perfectly in death metal. But i do not recommend dt 1990 pro for listening death metal.

    I watched thanks!! Do you think dt1990 is the most technical headphone under 1k€?

    • @MrAyrit
      @MrAyrit  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would be right up there for under $500. Under $1000 especially if you’re looking used is much more competitive. Then you’ve got things like Focal, Arya, HD800S… stiff competition.

    Nice comparison. I have not heard 660s, but can you compare it to 560s (which I have now) in a few words?

    • @MrAyrit
      @MrAyrit  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Sure, I'll try. Now, before I do that I'll warn you that this is all from memory of both headphones. Build and comfort are no contest to the DT1990, they are comfy tanks. Soundstage to the 1990. Bass, I want to say to the 560s (just right quantity and good quality), where I thought the 1990 was too much or too little depending on the pads. Mids, I'd maybe lean to the 560. Treble the 1990. Detail to the 1990. 560 is the better value IMO, especially if you buy used, even if the 1990 is under $400. 560 is less amp picky in my experience. However, if you're wearing and using for long hours everyday I'd definitely take the 1990 for comfort quality of build.

    Did they go through a revision of these? Two different style of boxes and also one case has some grey on the inside and others have all black inside. Doubt they will tell you if they did though.

      I have not ever heard that. They definitely don’t have 1st and 2nd gen (or third) like the do with the t1 and t5z

    Where do you see they retail for $500? Minimum I see anywhere is $600

      If you watch, I’ve seen them on sale new for less than $500.

    I.keep my 1990 for mixing but for Music 660s and Sundara are waaaaay better .

      What kind of music though? I feel the Beyer's have quietly shined with Hip Hop and EDM due to their tuning profile and slightly less "open" designs. I can see why people would choose other's for vocals or rock music. Appreciate the feedback.
