VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Dom and Derek are from Quebec and accidentally fell into the skoolie lifestyle after a few photos of bus conversions convinced them that this was in their future. They quickly dove into a DIY build, now their full-time home on the road. With two small children in mind, they designed a layout that would suit family meals, "road-schooling" for education, and enough space for everyone to have privacy. With a massive solar setup and battery bank to match, they are truly set up for an off-grid lifestyle full of adventure.

This is how all children should be taught!!! Outside, with their parents ~ one adventure after another ~ such a valuable experience!!! You should be proud of your parenting!!!! How special you are!!! Sending you light, love, peace, joy and abundance always. I love you.
Thank you so much. It was a big step but it's been an amazing journey. The first year while Derek was building the bus he did miss out on a year of the kids adventures but now we're with them all the time.
I grew up outside camping and fishing! I am now 70 and treasure those memories! I still love outdoors.
If I could go back in time and have parents like you ...

It' nice how the children's beds are long enough so that they can still use them comfortably when they grow. A lot of other builds have the kids' beds looking kind of cramped. Great job!
We wanted to build a couple of cubbies in their beds when we first designed them but now the extra space is great. It also makes story time better for us when we climb into their beds. And they are big enough to have a guest sleep in them and the littlest crashes in our king bed.

My thoughts exactly. Most of them are hacked together. Super clean. This guy was a PC gamer for sure. Lol
Thank you. We really wanted to be self-sufficient and not ever have to run a generator. We didn't want the noise.
@@danhamilton5010 hahah not a PC gamer but I do like some games. Right now we're on the beach with no one around and it would really suck to have a generator running just so we could have AC. Totally worth the cost of the system.
@@sunnytheskoolie674 I'd want to do the same. How long has it been since installation? Have you noticed any cell degradation?
@@slacmd last October we finished the battery and turned it all on. The battery is doing great. We have done about 35 cycles and this battery will do 3500 cycles then start dropping. We currently use only 80% of the battery

I love this couple, I love how they think, their schoolie is beautiful and efficient, they have thought of everything. wooow! This was one of the best videos about living on wheels because you're so honest when you talk and you think about a lot that is important to include in the video. As the bus seats and toilet and the practical stuff which is real and important. Including the honest stuff about how great it can be for your children to live like that. And i really loved your skoolie and how it looks!!!

Beautiful build! I love your parenting ideas. I grew up playing outside on a farm. I learned to work hard we had a wood stove that heat the house. I remember stacking chord after chord of wood. I thought everyone’s gardens were an acre big lol. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Best way to grow up. Derek lived on a ranch when he was young. And by the way we do miss our big garden.

What an Awesome, Stunning, Carefully Thought Out Aesthetics of a Bus. I think one of the nicest Conversions I've seen. It looks so Spacious & Light. I love the fact that you thought so much about your children before yourselves. So many people doing conversions pile 3 children on top of each other or other stuffy sleep places, which angers me no end. I love the fact that you have cut out a portion of the bed sides for ventilation as well as allowing your children to feel connected with their surroundings (how about giving them each a little window??)
Honestly I love how your children came 1st, I love the kitchen, bathroom/bath. You have thought of everything so well, there is nothing I would change. Did I miss you insulating the skoolie & heating & cooling, systems, or haven't you done any? You are right children do learn a lot more playing outside & travelling to new places. thanks! Derek worked so hard to build us the perfect bus! it was a lot of thinking! LOL, Our children definitely came first in all the designs. We thought of a window but I said no because the windows get really hot (we are always in a warm climate) so I wanted their bed to stay cool. I'm very happy I made this decision.
We did insulate the bus but they didn't show it on the tour. We have a diesel heater under the kitchen seat and we also have a space heater. We are about to install a mini split in our bedroom (you can see the white lines on top of our bed in the tour, we installed the lines before buying the mini split.) Quite honestly you 2 thought of everything which makes it all the more homely. I'm sure you will live in it for quite a few years still to come. I just love everything about your bus, I could easily live in it as everything seems so perfect & awesome about it. Your children couldn't have asked for a better childhood, away from technology, so they are told to play outside.

Fab bus and a great vibe. The nomadic lifestyle will be a great lesson for the children, opening them up to wonderful experiences and learning that a simple life is not a bad thing. I loved the design and pragmatic functionality, plus the light & airy feel. Starlink is proving to be a great asset to nomads, making online working another huge plus to life. Never underestimate learning through play. Also see why they need to learn certain things. I home educated my three kiddos and until doing lessons at local market did my eldest realise the benefit of learning math. Life skills are more important than logarithms . yes we travel all year long. We just finished our 6 months trip in the US and now we are in Baja Mexico for 6 months.

Would you recommend Starlink for residential service? I'm paying $75 monthly and I'm furnishing the modem router. It is cable based and it can be slow at times.
I would recommend starlink to anyone! you can bring it to your cabin, or to anywhere you want to go. it's super fast and worth every penny. Our address is still in New Mexico and we are roaming in Baja Mexico!
