    There is a gigantic cave system in King's Canyon, 22 mapped miles of cave reaching depths of 500 feet. That's Lilburn Cave. The amazing thing is that there is thought to be a vast vast north cave system connected to it, probably requiring digging out blocked, silted-up passageways. If ever the full extensive cave system is mapped, it could prove to be among the longest caves in the United States.

      Thanks!! We are trying to get better! Hard when the wind is over 40mph over 5000 ft. Little baby drone gets blown all over the place.

    That is such an amazing find and yeah, that cave looks like it has a pretty extensive network that can be easy to get lost in! Spelunking... Haha, that is one heck of an extreme sport seeing some people slither their way into some of the tiniest cracks! 😳

      @BadHikers  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think we all found out that Brittany was a secret spelunker for the first time! And yes this is a must do hike. We also loved it because being a little off the beaten trail of the National Park we only saw a handful of other hikers. Thanks for watching!

  • @zulu6265

    I’m glad you guys were responsible and respectful of the formations. Most of the caves in the park have been closed off because of vandalism. In other words people apparently broke off formations of the caves to take them home. 😠

    • @BadHikers
      @BadHikers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is so sad how so much of our wild spaces are vandalized in one way or another, from trash to spray paint and in these caves just stealing. We always practice leave no trace and try to clean up the trail and leave it better than when we found it. Thanks for you comment and for watching.

      It was our first trip up since 2019. We would love to do some more overnight backcountry trips in the park later in the fall.
