I've lost track of how many arguments I've had with people who think Roberto Carlos was the ultimate free kick specialist based on one (admittedly spectacular) goal, yet don't even have an idea that Mihajlovic was considerably more consistent from dead ball situations. Plus, he had both finesse and brute force in his kick, making him even more dangerous because goalies never knew how if he was going to place it or just release a powerful shot that came at top speed. *Edit* Coming back here after hearing the terrible news of Mijaojlovic's death due to complications from cancer. RIP to one of the greats.
Chile Pepper he also offered Carlos a free kick challenge which the Brazilian never accepted. He mentioned it in an interview published in Football Gazetta Italia.
Chile Pepper Mihajlovic was definitely more skilled at freekicks but one can’t deny the screamers of Roberto Carlos as well. Mihajlovic, Recoba, Roberto Carlos, Messi and Rivaldo are my all time top 5 of left foot free kick takers in my opinion.
Along with Peruzzi, Nesta, Stam Simeone, Nedved, Veron, Mancini, Salas, Lopez, Crespo and many other legends, that Lazio team was one of the best in that generation
