  • Short time lapse video of the restoration of the Rolls Royce Armoured Car 'Sliabh na mBan'. This historic car was part of Gen Michael Collins' convoy at the Beal na Blath ambush where he was mortally wounded in 1922. Sliabh na mBan was renovated in the Combined Vehicle Based Workshops in the Defence Forces Training Centre, Curragh.

    @tacfoley wow cool story, i went to see i once and they said you cant view it, but you done well to get sitting in it, i have been interested in this car for a long time and know alot abot it, i also spoke to the man that arranged for the turret of the car to be reunited with the rest of the car.

    Who gave the Free staters the car? British government? Along with the weapons

      The government bought 20 of them in the early 20s for £2,000 each

      Anything given to the Irish free state in 1922 would have been based on a fare share of resources belonging to the people of Ireland, in the same way as Dublin castle, the GPO, all British military barracks (except naval bases) and all other British administrative buildings and property were handed over.
