Old Federal Signal Video

- I was sent this by a friend. I am sure this video is from the mid 50s, most likely 1955 thereabouts. Why I say this is because the factory in the video was at 8700 S. State St, which Federal moved out of to go to the Blue Island factory in 1958, so it cannot be later than that.
Back when quality sirens were made
better ones are made today
@@bitchlasagna4720 nope
dalrymple ranch They’re not that bad, you don’t see a 2001 fail to offend
Sirens of NE Ohio the only siren company that is great quality is sentry siren the still hand make the siren
Oh yes, very unfortunet that now they are like: Lookz At Are electrionac thing siren ists good and cool hahahehe
Now just imagine how loud a 5M Thunderbolt is in that tiny af sound proof test cell
Damn, imagine how clean those Thunderbolts sounded and looked. Especially the rare 2000s and 2000Ts.
theres nothing such as the "2000T"
@@YoooitsSCARS there is. But it’s SUPER rare. It’s a 1000T with a gas powered blower
@@MonkeyFilmProductions nope there has never been any thunderbolt 1000t with a gas powered blower that exists
@@YoooitsSCARS the only gas powered thunderbolt is Bebee Arkansas and I don’t think it is anymore. It’s a 2000 Jailbar
@@ianssirensproductions7418 it is a 2000 jailbar but the blower was converted to electric sometime around 2018
They should of played this video in my history class. Very educational. XD
I saw a C5GA fire truck siren, I also heard the Model 77GB dual toned, and a few siren lights. Very cool video.
this makes me so happy and I can't explain why
Because you're a siren lover, through and through?
It’s so fucking cool how these are made!! Thanks for posting this
oh wow atleast we got to see thunderbolts!
That Thunderbolt 1000 at the beginning of the video sounds creepy!!
Too bad it's dubbed over. But it's a Jailbar AND a Bumblebolt!
Elizabeth_958 I'm willing to bet the sound is not of a 1000, but one of Chicago's old Super Sirex sirens!
Oh yeah definitely +ChicagoSirens
The 1000 that was shown was a jailbar yet on the sound there was no pulsating sound from the A1 blower. Also the wind up was too quick for a tbolt.
This will be hard to explain but I'll try my best. The thunderbolt is just rotating and not sounding, plus the wind-up to is far to fast for it to be the thunderbolt. But this was filmed in Chicago, and at that time, Chicago had 5 H.O.R super si rex sirens. If you look at the wind up of a 9/9 port super sirex, it pretty much is a match of the wind up here. So what you're hearing is a super sirex
Jailbar 1003 not creepy
I used to think that they was government owned due to the name Federal Signal but later found out they aren't.
I was the same way. Every time I saw a Thunderbolt I would think it's another government siren.
I would love to work in that factory. I would love to work on Thunderbolt 1000s and 1000Ts, mostly 1000s.
great way to get cancer lol
Pause at 0:32 I see an STL-10 being built in the lower left corner
That jailbar bumblebolt was awesome
Light and siren collectors are salivating at this video :-)
0:41 Man works on the rotor of a Federal Signal SD-10 siren

0:48 Model A or Model L or something else?

1:42 Thunderbolt Horns getting made!
1:52 Thunderbolt 1000
2:23 Thunderbolt Blower
2:31 Fire Sirens and etc.
1:29 is an STH-10. Model 5s are 5HP, and Model 3s are 3HP
Id love to see this 1950’s video❤
Now this is epic.
I like the view from inside the blower when the thunderbolt gets tested
As a light / siren freak 74 yrs..this education video is plain KICKASS 👍👍federal propello-ray cosmic warning lites 👍 all we had on St Paul fd rigs was p.ray 1950-1964
Fun fact I believe I heard a FS&S Vibratone 350 and I own one of those. [1960's model]
1:09 a thunderbolt 1000 being manufactured
The best siren I would say this company made was the federal sth-10 my Fire Department uses it still to this day
You too? 😁
@@Doodlebugthegoldenhamster oh yeah she’s still healthy to this day
@@roxfire23 No way, you also give them gender pronouns? I named the STH-10 at my fire dept. Harvey and give him male pronouns. Forgive me I'm weird.
The STH-10 is probably the best single tone siren they made, and the SD-10 is by far the best dual tone because it has closed in housing protecting it from elements.
A bp gas station stands where this factory used to be
lol they should've made it a museum
0:07 is that a siren up there in the top right corner? I'm pretty sure it is, but the video is old and fuzzy so it might be something else like a street lamp.
2:32 model 76
0:19 The sound is from one of the Super Sirexes
I doubt FS&S would use sounds of sirens that they didn’t make, I think that’s a 1000 on either level 4 or level 5
What I find funny is for the first siren clip, they use an HOR sound
Thunderbolt 1000
Jailbar thunderbolt
Where is the 2T22A/B/3T22A/B model? I only see the thunderbolt.

T-Bolt, the scariest sounding siren, with ACA following behind.
Nah tbolt
@@Sylvite. NO. IT SOUNDS LIKE A WHELEN
@@demetrijohnsonssirenvideos3590 NO IT SOUNDS LIKE A WHELEN
This sounds like a 1940s ad
What movie or video was that in
this cheered me up alot after I saw thunderbolt siren deaths and a dying 2001
How old is the thunderbolt?
60+ years, pretty sure the first Thunderbolt 1000 was made in 1950s
1952. Pre-production designs 1948 - 1951
The Thundebolt is 70 years old late 40's and early 50's
Ok thanks guys
0:55 What is that chopper for ,a Model D/L?
Duderocks5
Looks like a chopper for a Model 2.
Jared Thompson Wayy too small..
Jared Thompson and way too thin
Maybe a Model A.
1:32 THATS FRIGIN RARE! THATS FOOTAGE OF A MODEL 10 BEING PUT TOGETHER!
i dont think a model 10 is a thing
@@a_yden16 The numbers of the models are by their HP, just like the ACA Screamer series.
Model 1: 1HP
Model 2: 2HP
Model 3: 3HP
Model 5: 5HP
Model 7: 7HP
Model 20: 20HP
So what does that leave when he says a 10HP electric motor???
Model 10: 10HP
@@MasenMonster model 10s don't exist
Wait did anyone Notice the federal signal q2b at 2:36 or is it just me
Are those Model 2 choppers being built or are those Thunderbolt 1000s?
Both
They used the same chopper.if you want you could put a 5/6 chopper in a model 2 and it would work.
@@kingofthepod5169 Yep
What about the SD 10 that was made from federal signal
Any more information on this film? The "OHIO" card at the end gives me a hint that this might be a tour of different companies throughout the states. Maybe Federal was the Ilinois segment?
I love the Old a1 blower sound
OWS Crazy1 too bad the thunderbolt in this video was dubbed over
Yeah, if I recall correctly, that audio recording was the H.O.R Super Sirex on top of the Field Building in downtown Chicago
Fat2T22 actually at the time the film was made, there was 5 super sirex sirens in chicago.
Well the echo gives the iteration of the unit atop of the Field Building
Fat2T22 that is true as there are many taller buildings by the field building
0:14 Federal Signal Jailbar Thunderbolt 1000A
Then they replaced the old sirens with Federal Signal Modulators
How dare Federal "Enterprises" Replace their own sirens!
Old thunderbolt 1000 jailbar and a normal thunderbolt 1000 and i guess a model 2.
