I love how company's products Don't sell, and instead of thinking about making it better or even cheaper to get people interested in buying it. They instead think. Same with comics isn't it? Sales in the toilet $5 books that you need to buy dozens of to get the story and they can't sell them to kids at that price.
That’s what they do like cinemas. Less people go they jack up the price and screw the audience that still goes and each year less people go the cinemas and they pay even more.
They also jack the price of the best selling comics. ASM or X-men is $5, but something like Spider Gwen is $4. At this point they are just abusing their hardcore fandom.
In many ways Hasbro are stuck as it's not down to them that Star Wars and Marvel are no longer popular or sell toys. Disney are the one's who need to improve but it may be too late. Especially for Star Wars.
You would think, but it's ALL peg warmers. Shang-Chi, the Eternals, and the cast offs. Occasionally something good sneaks through but some nerd that works there picks through it before anyone even gets a sniff. If you want a Rick Flair figure they've had over 100 on the same pegs for over a year.
We used to find good deals on collectible figs at Ollies pre 2018. Once the MCU died after Endgame all that was left is the stuff that he shows regularly….and is still there. Same thing with Star Wars, all the sequel stuff just sits. Its sad.
Yet they keep making the same characters every other year. Are there any collectors who don't have a Bumblebee or Optimus Prime? They finished Combiner Wars, now they're making combiners again.
@@Ihavethetouch Like how they're doing the Constructicons for the '86 Studio Series. Honestly as much as I love Transformers it has gotten way too expensive to justify the price for what you get and I remember when Deluxes were $12!
@@Ihavethetouch At least they're making them better and finally saying "oh yeah people other than Geewoners exist." That and Takara found out what a normal price for an MP was with their insane line. Plus, seriously, just sell deluxes for 10 bucks.
I see it as Hasbro making one mold as the low-effort "default" figure while rereleases with new colors/heads have proper paint on the surface details. It's infuriating
I quit buying Hasbro or Takara Transformers. I can get good representations of the characters from Temu or AliExpress just as well and for a lot cheaper. What was the deal breaker for me was Studio Series 86 Bumblebee for $30, it was an ok figure but about a month later I ordered a legends size "Not" Omega Supreme from AliExpress for about $25. I got it in and it's about 4 times the height and weight (basically the same size as the G1 version, a little smaller but not much) but thinking about that $30 Bumblebee, it pissed me off when I thought back to even 10 years ago when that would have been $12.88 (at most) at Walmart but Hasbro has to tax us for not buying their Disney crap (same reason the MotU line of the early 2000s was cancelled, because it was outselling Barbie and Hot Wheels and Mattell couldn't have that) so they raise the prices of what people will buy to subsidize that which doesn't, the entire ideology of progressives everywhere. Screw brand loyalty, be loyal to your wallet ( not to mention the AliExpress versions of Transformers are usually BETTER than the official versions, look at the Bumblebee Prime Studio Series version, available, a hell of a lot cheaper, more accessories, and DIE CAST) Screw Hasbro and F Disney. Marvel Comics should RIP.
Bro, you nailed it, and repeated what I just posted in the 14th prime's thread about Hasbro quitting toys. Most people are priced out. They're not buying their kids $40-$50 toys that are garbage.
I work with stocking toys at Walmart. I'm a collector myself, and I seriously don't want to buy anything anymore. Nor do parents, things NEVER SELL because they're too damn expensive. Kids always walk out crying, it makes me sad, but these parents don't have the money for this bullshit. It's stupid and heartbreaking.
I don't collect figures but you got a point on videogames. I hope GTAVI doesn't cost 100. If it does I am gonna pass until the price falls. Right now 70 is my limit and i REALLY have to want a game to pay that. I noticed I buy less now when it went to 70 too so if it went to 100, probably wont have the effect the industry wants. Also want to say I remember Star Wars toy sections when they were crazy. I grew up in the 90's and it was an entire aisle for the OT. When the prequels came out it was even more crazy. Now its not even worth visiting. The toy section at walmart i may pop over to the lego aisle and thats it.
@@AxelOwnz the worst thing is they want you to pay that for a digital download. When I was younger I used to buy stuff on release day and unless it was something like Skyrim I would play it to death usually completing story driven games in a week. Reguardless as long as I traded it within a month I would get 80% off the next big release. Never had more than a few games in my collection but played everything I wanted.
I have worked in retail in one form or another almost all of my life. About 45 years total. The final mistake that many companies make that put themselves out of business is when they are struggling, some genius says hey, I know what can do to make ends meet. Just raise our prices! It fails 100% of the time and is the final straw for them.
I cherry pick. I just ordered some of the Spider-Man Marvel Legends. I only wanted Spider-Man Unlimited, Kane and Chameleon. I didn't need Spider-Boy, Agent Venom or female Electro. Self control and responsibility.
I'm so 😞 disappointed with Hasbro and the Marvel Legends community. I have been collecting one toy line or another from Hasbro since 1982. I made a comment about Hasbro's prices being too high in a previous video and someone in the comments section was rude enough to remark "if you can't afford your toys, u should get your mom to buy them for you." It's mean statements like that that keep collectors from connecting with one another. When your fellow collectors can't respect your opinion, there is no hope of being respected by Hasbro (and u actually pay Hasbro). Since the pandemic, the attitudes of the collectors and the toy manufacturers have changed. Everyone started accepting ordering things online and now there's barely anything in stores. The companies keep showing new products on streams but the toys never actually make it to a store. I remember when comic books stopped being sold in retail stores. The action figures are starting to be put on shelves a little less every quarter. Some companies like McFarlane don't call the toys or action figures but rather "collectibles". Made for ages 14 and up and costing about $5-$10 more. My mom is not buy that and I'm not buying it either😮
The problem with toy collectors is that many of them have more money than brains and they're more accurately described at addicts rather than collectors. And as is typical with addicts, they can't even recognize how addicted they are.
To put it into perspective: the Spiderman mentioned in the video is five dollars more expensive than a Leader Class Transformer. Take Blitzwing, for example. He's a triple changer that can turn into a tank or a jet, and he stands at above-average height for Transformers. He comes with a sword, two blasters, and two missile launcher pods that turn into gauntlets. He's normally $55 *but he goes on sale down at $35*. Spidey definitely doesn't hold up value-wise since his interchangeable pieces take up much of his box.
Way back in the day I used to collect these things. Only Star Wars though. These days, I look at these things and think to myself "Who would want to pay that much money for a stoopid toy?". I would never spend more than $8.99 on any of these. Hasbro just wants to skip the middleman that inflates the price, reselling to collectors when an item is no longer available and make all the inflated profits from collectors on their own. That's just not how it works, Hasbro.... Or, should I say "Hadbro". Nobody wants your garbage. I could just 3d print these things if I felt so inclined. At least I would feel more proud to display the final product after I printed it and painted it myself.
Bro you can even do more than just 3d print. You can custom order card and blister packs for dirt cheap in bulk and just make your own replicas of vintage Star Wars figures, in MUCH better detail too especially if you own a liquid resin printer. A much cheaper and more engaging way to get a nostalgia hit, and its kinda like building a model kit.
For $60 you can get some sh figuarts anime figure. They will in fact make the main character like Luffy and Tanjiro cheaper at $35 to get you into the line. These have better paint, sculpt, and articulation than Marvel Legends.
@@Actionfiguresinaction He's not lying, he just had inaccurate infomation but let's put that aside. $40 is still too much. $25-30 is about the acceptable range and even then that's pushing it.
Lmao a couple of days later after I preordered this fig I was like “wtf is worth $35 for this figure with outdated articulation, lackluster accessories and zero baf pieces” went back and cancelled mine immediately😂
Ironically, this one likely has to do with the costs of manufacturing and distribution costs. 2020 was a major spike and a lot of places never adjusted their prices accordingly. We're seeing other companies like Bandai Namco increase their prices across the board when they've previously kept historical MSRPs. Lego and Tomy are no exceptions to this.
That bit about the articulation points and his butthole opened up made me laugh so hard I choked on my coffee and spilled it on my robe. Sphew, I am still laughing
I used to collect Star Wars 3.75 inch and Black Series, but I started to look at it objectively and many figures, despite having new molds, did not meet my expectations. And I thought, what if instead of spending $300 on 10 cheap figures, I save the money to buy the best version of a character that exists? And that's how I made the jump to Hot Toys.
They did this before with the 3 live action Spidermen 3-pack. Charging what, 99 bucks for a figure with a web accessory & swappable hands for each. And later did them separately with 2 pairs of hands and a photo real head accessory for 24.99 each. Think they will do it this way to get customers to buy it this way then will release in a year, cheaper in some form or fashion? Lol
20 bucks for a basic Transformer for kids. 35 bucks for an action figure that has less quality and accessories than a NECA figure. HASBRO. WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? STOP KILLING YOURSELVES!!
Thank you for making this video! I was so frustrated when I saw this figure get revealed… his electric effect barely shows up on his face at all. The reason I and I believe many other collectors would even want to buy this figure (bc the suit design is mid lets be honest) is for a Jamie Foxx face scult. I collect ML and its embarrassing when they try to hype up a over priced lazy figure
I think this confirms that maximum line spider-man is going to be $50-60. The cope will be this is to compensate for bigger figures like hulk to be cheaper.
Stopped in my local Ollies this morning, the eternals and black panther stuff takes up about 4-5 feet of shelf space, top to bottom. The stuff has at least been there since before christmas 2023.
Hasbro is getting out of the toy buisness, There is not a big market as it used to be for the kids anymore and the adults that collect them, hasbro pretty much priced them out of the market. This is what happens when overdo it, over price and taking advantage of the collector's spirit, you reap what you sow.
The adults with money customer base Hasbro wants knows bullshit quality when they see it and won't throw money at junk products. Hasbro's response isn't to fix the quality issues. No, they knuckle down and reduce the content and quality even further. They don't even manage to make ripoff toys correctly.
Honestly, if I was in charge of Hasbro, I would be asking "What is the point of having the Star Wars & Marvel toy licenses?" Its obvious that they aren't selling and the stuff is just sitting on shelves gathering dust!
I wonder if manufacturers are just seeing collectors paying hundreds on the secondary market and thinking, well clearly they are willing to spend. Same with GTA, Rockstar look at people spending there mortgage payment on a Gacha magic hat 'micro transaction' and think thats now a baseline pricing strategy.
As a guy who went third party looong ago and dropped marvel and even Todd Father , 60 bucks for a basic marvel legends with shit it should come with is wild af. Doesn't Jada toys already do this much with street fighter? Third party rules the day, at least I get what I pay for. He's really trying to explain to yall that they wont increase prices if YOU DONT BUY IT AT RIDICULOUS PRICES. He's loosing his marbles explaining it but its understandable when ppl let fomo make them do dumb shit like increase the prices on our own. I remember in late 2000's when transformers which is my bag , was so un desired people were getting titian class trypticon for 5 bucks in bargain bins. That's insanity but when ppl just stop paying stupid prices theyll stop selling them at stupid prices. Now theyre re releasing that same figure same sculp[t for 200 buckaroo's. Really hope cheap greed doesn't ruin the hobby for everyone.
I quit buying when Hasbro went to the windowless packaging. I looked at pricing the other day on Marvel Legends and The Mandolorian figures they had a ton of and they were all around $26. If I buy anything else for my collection it will be to fill misses over the years, Toybiz etc. Hasbro lost me for good.
Got a bunch of those copters at the Ollie's I live by. Pretty sure it is considered a smaller Ollie's can only imagine how many are at all the stores rotting.
Honestly i thought the price was to cover jamie foxx likeness or something. Like maybe thats why it took so long, hasbro and JF working out a deal with the customer finally paying for his likeness tax. Only to find out THE EFFECT DOESNT COME OFF HIS FACE?!?!!😱🤣🤣🤣🤣
I completely agree...! I personally do this because its fun and I LOVE the community here on youtube...! Its every dream I had as a kid... To just collect and share and enjoy it for whatever reason. My sons do not want action figures because they can get digital software video games that give heme months of fun. This is the end. I am a HUGE McFarlane fan! I became an illustrator because of McFarlane. But im not paying $60 for any figure. Or $40 for a figure that has nothing special about it. I picked up the Elctro from the new Spiderman wave and she's a wonderful figure. For $24.99... Which I repeat is waaaay too much for toys... I'm out if this is the future.
Disney made a huge mess with Marvel and Star Wars toys and now they’re already killing hasbro. Mattel is thriving with consumers, and they’ve been getting bigger since the Barbie movie.
I think Hasbro or jacking up their prices because McFarland's going to take that marvel line from them and they're trying to get what they can out of it
They want to make boutique level games workshop BS! Just low-quality trash with high pricing, except it isn't a grey sprue. Hasbro is price gouging $5 for reg and $10 for deluxe. They are devaluing Marvel, SW, TF, and Joe like crazy! Just price hiking annually to start pushing 3 to 4x ahead of inflation. That's what they want, to buffer prices for shareholders by price gouging. These items don't cost this much to manufacture, labor, materials and shipping has been proven to not have risen much for 10 years, it's all manufactured price gouging to raise prices because... some idiot built this new business model and companies are all following it. It's our fault we paid it, and our fault for accepting terrible quality.
Worst case scenario, if these people want these figures so bad, Ollies or Ross or any discount store will have them...hmmm lets say, a month at least...two months tops.
This electro ? And Spiderman? Will Never. Ever. EVER EVER!?! See a Ollie's. Bet the deed to my home on it. 😂 (And..Spidey? Is not Gona be 60.00! Lol it's MSRP is 39.99)
They CEO of Hasbro was replaced recently. The new one wants to stop making toys and focus on videogames. And license the toy brands to other companies. They already do it with Power Rangers, and soon with Transformers too.
They just want to cash in big with impulsive buyers first. And slowly reduce their prices to the real price so buyers can feel special about picking up a bargain. And then moving it to Ollie’s and Ross.
The people at Hasbro have lost their minds. They see ebay prices, and think that should be the price for everything. No ebay prices work because there are relatively few. Maybe 100 or so at a time.... people arent paying $35 or $60 for a marvel legends figure, if there are 20000 of them on ebay. Hasbro took all the fun out of collecting with their ebay prices, and windowless boxes. And they wonder why people arent buying toys anymore?!
I never thought I'd ask this but is there ANY way to recycle Hasbro's crap? Ollie's can't sell the toys and its taking up valuable shelf space. There's just no way to sell them to people because no one wants them.
No one but hardcore Hasbro fans is buying that MCU Elecktro. All of us rational minded collectors will see this figure in Ross, Ollies, DD's, or some Half Off store months from now. Every time Hasbro brings out one of these overpriced figures a few Has-Bros buy it and get mad when it's found at 70% percent later.
Just keep to Transformers, and stop worshipping Disney. If they get out of the toy game 100% Takara could still handle the "cash cow" anyways, even if Hasbro keeps finding ways to screw up the media for it in one way or another. And Power Rangers? JUST GIVE IT BACK TO BANDAI. (Tell them to stop making everything PREBAN too, while you're at it, because it's literally just selling the same thing for double the price and with like 5 units each.)
Hasbro priced themselves out of the toy market lol
"Congratulations, you played yourself."
And nothing demonstrates that better than their Star Wars products over the past 5-7 years

with that price for a standard Hasbro figure, I'm better off buying a good quality SH figurarts for that same amount.
9:46 Sparkling water. 🤣🤣🤣
20 bucks for a basic Transformer for kids.
35 bucks for an action figure that has less quality and accessories than a NECA figure.
HASBRO. WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? STOP KILLING YOURSELVES!!
Hasbro has been making some of the worst decisions as a toy company.
Even that 12 inch line 8 years ago was only 49.99$$$ what happened
Almost 10 years ago and inflation. That $49.99 would be like $69.99 today inflation and then greed.
Weird that some excuses for the price is that it's a movie licensed figure. And yet it doesn't have Jamie Foxx's face.
I got Reva the other day for $4.50 at Ollies (used a 10% coupon). The perfect price for Hasbro's toys.
As a collector I really enjoy this channel , defend the culture bro
I use to work at Hasbro in Australia and I can confirm Hasbro's quality is poo. So poo that that staff are being made redundant every quarter.
Except for?😂 Black Series and Marvel Legends. Read the article a lil closer😊
well, to be fair. that new electro figure is more detailed and has a more patterns than the female one.
They hike up the prices to help compensate for their sales volumes going down. Hasbro sucks
Honestly, if I was in charge of Hasbro, I would be asking "What is the point of having the Star Wars & Marvel toy licenses?" Its obvious that they aren't selling and the stuff is just sitting on shelves gathering dust!
We’ve been suffering with this for a while now with Transformers too. As a forty year veteran of the brand and I’m just about done with Hasbro
Thats why we must by our stuff from ollies or alliexpress
Just wait till November you'll be able to buy these for pennies on the dollar 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Got a bunch of those copters at the Ollie's I live by. Pretty sure it is considered a smaller Ollie's can only imagine how many are at all the stores rotting.
They should be free with a happy meal.
They think there's demand if they raise the price.
Might I suggest, you do a video of this new Spider-man's "World Premiere"?
It would be SO fun to watch nobody buying it.
Hasbro found out what happens when you multiply by zero.
Great Tommy Boy reference.
Imagine a kid sitting down to play with their "Woke-a-Lyte" figures, saying, "My name is Sol. What gender pronouns do you prefer?" 😂
Disney made a huge mess with Marvel and Star Wars toys and now they’re already killing hasbro. Mattel is thriving with consumers, and they’ve been getting bigger since the Barbie movie.
Id buy all of it at a bulk discount, always looking for cheap targets for the range
I think Hasbro or jacking up their prices because McFarland's going to take that marvel line from them and they're trying to get what they can out of it
Kendo stole my dad 😢
So glad I'm not a toy collector. WTF is Hasbro doing?
Great video
$60 for an action figure! Clearly not a market for kids anymore
Hasbro made their choice and now they are going to face the consequences.
Lizards also 35? Ain't no way
gotta love Hasbro reusing a bunch of old accessories from previous Spidy's , and nothing new or unique.
Lol it's MSRP is 39.99)
hasbro is just throwing sh## at the wall and seeing what sticks.
Star Wars retro is worth $4, vintage $10, BS $15. Marvel Legends are worth about $20. This maximum series Spider-man is a valid $25 figure.
I never thought I'd ask this but is there ANY way to recycle Hasbro's crap? Ollie's can't sell the toys and its taking up valuable shelf space. There's just no way to sell them to people because no one wants them.
I've seen it listed on some sites for 59.99 not surprised , dam thought that was Jamie Foxx I'll pass on it till it's past 50% off
Gotta make up for all of those financial losses from ShittiCopters and Reba figures.
They messed up his head or didn't get a scan of his head, why else would they release it like this.
I received my Pocket World Lightningman 2.0, so I'm good!
As if Ollie's aka "The Store of Misfit Toys" needs or even want more of these stuff that's going to just sit & connect dust.
Can't wait to pick it up at Ollie's!
Someone swapped triple h with the dx version 💀💀
Hasbro is its own worst enemy.
The Jamie Foxx Electro figure looks like the George Floyd Electro😂🤣😆
You Idiots!!! You purchased his stunt double!!!
Preach Jeff!!!
