I've never been a big alcohol drinker, and I like my fresh air and sunshine, so night clubs and the like don't do much for me, so I probably wouldn't have noticed if all these places were shut. Buses do finish early and other shops shut early on Christmas Eve though which may explain why people don't go in to the city. New Years' Eve can be busy though. I went to Sheffield on New Years Eve 2021 with my camera and it was very busy. I was going to go this year, but it was raining, so I didn't bother.
I used to prefer Christmas eve afternoon and home for 8/9pm before the fighting started. It's indicative of the population, the soul and joy has been ripped out We always went to the Frog and Parrot and one across from city hall on a back street that you went downstairs to but I can't remember the name. It was a metal / rock pub. I'm from Barnsley but we'd venture to Sheffield occasionally
@timawells straight down past city hall on the same road. It used to sell a black beer in a third of a pint. Again I don't remember what it was called (menopause brain fog) I do remember there was a fruit and veg shop a few shops up from it because it was the first place I'd ever eaten Chinese pears and lye cheese. I was courting a Sheffield lad (I lived in Barnsley) and he used to take me there late 80s,early 90s
@timawells Hi Tim, the 60s saw the legalising of the murder of un born. Whilst we partied and rock and rolled through the years evil was at work. The corruption and moral decay has destroyed the foundation's of our nation. Now the Elites want their one world order, to rebuild the tower of babel. We are reaping what we have sowed. The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

A veritable Christmas wonderland. Christmas this year seems a bit of a damp squid, the illuminations in town and the whole atmosphere seem very subdued. Sheffield is now a poor version of it's former self.
People have realised how much they get ripped off coming in town from previous years, but also what the council has done to it. It wasn't pleasant hearing no English spoke by fighting age lads.
Yes Tim the place on Campo lane oppose behind cathedral it is definitely some kind of a bar it used to be a pizza place known as craft and dough anyway they moved to what they call a better area you will know the area it's £2,000 a month for a flat, anyway so yes craft and dough turned into a bar croft and dough pizza moved to khallum

Sheffield centre needs more restaurants and tourist attractions to lure people out. Not everyone wants to go out to just get hammered in clubs/pubs anymore. Times have changed and Sheffield is stuck in the past unfortunately.
Was the Blue Riband for destroying the nightlife? If they are filling the city centre environs with people who are only here half the year, this is what you end up with! Also, many of those people do not drink hence the closure of pubs. Who is going in a food hall on Christmas Eve? Talking about the 80s is forty years ago! By next year everything will shut at 6 pm. Christmas Ale £9 a pint in Head of Steam 2 years ago. The food stalls have destroyed the Christmas drink culture, in my opinion.

Morning Amanda. I hope you are well. I have just seen his Christmas eve take it was before I went down at 8pm. His looks lively to mine. As a 80s/90s clubber I am shocked beyond believe. Thanks for all your kind comments. Have a great remainder of Christmas. Best Tim XX
@timawells , Tim your content is awesome as usual, thankyou ♥️
Tim it's a very sad reflection of the Establishments intented destruction of our Cities, businesses & economy all by design 😢
I am not surprised nore shocked.
I am worried about all our children's futures.
Tim I hope you enjoy the rest of our Christmas holiday 🎄✨️

@@Amandajane-freespirit Thank you Amanda, a totally different angle from the others chaps Christmas eve video. It was even more shocking being there. I could see things the video didn't pick up. All the best Tim❤
@timawells your content is awesome ✨️❤️
Tim I know & no matter how good the video/content it doesn't beat being there in person to really experience & feel the place & environment.
However Tim you never fail to bring out really top notch videos out & that's a gift, thankyou.
Tim I hope you have a nice, peaceful day today ❤️💕❤️
@@Amandajane-freespirit Thanks Amanda. I need to see if I can improve on the light at night. 95% were no indigenous Brits walking around and many came across on the boats I am guessing.
I liked my sunshine and booze Steve once, but drinking is a mugs game. But the nightlife was very different in the 80s.
I used to prefer Christmas eve afternoon and home for 8/9pm before the fighting started.
It's indicative of the population, the soul and joy has been ripped out
We always went to the Frog and Parrot and one across from city hall on a back street that you went downstairs to but I can't remember the name. It was a metal / rock pub. I'm from Barnsley but we'd venture to Sheffield occasionally
Was it wapentake?
@@analogkidabc Yes it was. Thanks for that flashback. I totally forgot that one.❤
@@analogkidabcthat's the one. I loved it in there
Frog and parrot down Division St Laura?
@timawells straight down past city hall on the same road. It used to sell a black beer in a third of a pint. Again I don't remember what it was called (menopause brain fog) I do remember there was a fruit and veg shop a few shops up from it because it was the first place I'd ever eaten Chinese pears and lye cheese.
I was courting a Sheffield lad (I lived in Barnsley) and he used to take me there late 80s,early 90s
One of the reasons we are where we are today is because of the 60s 70s 80s and 90s.
How do you mean John?
@timawells Hi Tim, the 60s saw the legalising of the murder of un born.
Whilst we partied and rock and rolled through the years evil was at work. The corruption and moral decay has destroyed the foundation's of our nation.
Now the Elites want their one world order, to rebuild the tower of babel.
We are reaping what we have sowed.
The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
Sheffield is mostly for the newcomers now.l say this as someone who has lived here nearly 70 year's.
The natives aren't happy.
Remember Baileys , Black Swan ( hen parties) . But my favourite was TopRank, always had tickets for New Year Eve. party 🎈 🎉.
It became a bit rough in the Top Rank when I went in the 80s Shirley so I went in Baileys but as Romeo and Juliets. X
I went to Top Rank in the seventies .
Tuesday night when l was sixteen and Saturday night when l was 18 .
In the eighties l was saving up to buy house & get married. Thanks for the video Tim 👍🏻🎄
@@shirleysmith1713 Bit like a horror movie Shirley. X

Hi tim good video mate looks like a ghost town ... Back in the day town was full Christmas eve .... All down too the couicel wrecking this city .... Sheffield will never be the same ever again its finished ...
Absolutely Andy. Wrecked by the council.
Such a shame, it used to be very lively 😮
I couldn't find one pub to go in for a pint and for it to feel like Christmas eve Hazel. X
The clash once played the black swan
There are talks of the leadmill potentially relocating there
The loss of social life will have a terrible impact on future generations and society in general but woe betide if we upset the religion that cannot be criticised.
I am told very few pop groups as the young don't socialise.
There used to be a nightclub where Bunk is I think it was called Sinatra's. I remember working there, I am sure they had a fish tank with a Moray eel in, he also owned a place in Doncaster, think that was just a pub though.
Is that what I called the Golden Ball on Campo Lane Ian?
@timawells Can't recall you saying anything about the golden ball.
@@iansheff57 I thought the pub on Campo Lane in darkness was the golden ball up from the Wig and Pen.
@@timawells You are right. It was just across the road from the "wig and pen" I am rubbish at names of roads, but pubs I remember fondly. Some happy memories in them.
@@iansheff57 I remember Sinatra's night club. Did that become Millionaires a few years later? My memory is hazy on the exact location.
The big question is what would workshop be like on Christmas Eve night I reckon nobody would be about everywhere probably shut
Sad. Romeo & Juliets 2 nightclubs in one.
We used to buy our Xmas eve / New Years Eve tickets to Anabelle's in worksop weeks before. What do young adults do these days??
They must play on their computers.
Code usually opens at about 11:00 p.m. it is a nightclub open till 5:00 a.m. in the mornings I'm not sure if it's closed permanently but saying that I've not been there for years it was a good little nightclub
It was just a pub Andy, Berlins. Christmas eve I would have been in the nightclub early about 9pm.
Is Moorfoot Tavern still open?
Not bas far as I know. There is a gay bar down there that may have been it.
I used to go to Josephine's as well behind BarkersPool
I did in the 90s.
I used to go to Rebels circa 83-84 when I had friends at the university. It was a rock place. Think Def Leppard and you've got the idea.Had many a good night in there despite it being a dive.
@@Anybloke those stairs were a nightmare after a few pints.
@@analogkidabc Yes. You turned right as you went through the door at the top and there was a kiosk / cloakroom with a sign saying "Lads £1.50, Lasses £1". Never any trouble there. Well behaved lot the rock crowd. Bob Maltby was DJ.
@@Anybloke can still picture it now and a hatch for food on left as you went in I think. Can't remember dj but never saw any trouble.
Hi I remember night club where job centre is on the bottom floor the actual dance floor is still there I spoke to someone few years ago dance floor not been touched.
I remember it as Romeo and Juliets.
Casbah formly Wop was across from Henry's,me my sister and hubbies used to drink every weekend at Wop yrs ago. Me n hubby used to go into pizza hut then straight across to Wop Saturday night.
I was a poser in Henrys
I can’t believe that’s Christmas Eve ! What the hell happened ! Wow used to be rammed on a Christmas Eve 😮😮😢😢
Yep. But also half the venues we had. Zero nightclubs,
The story with the Christmas markets in Manchester is they had them since early November Sheffield Hades open early December that's probably why Manchester packed there's away I think Sheffield could do with opening the Christmas market a little bit earlier
What was Manchester like Christmas eve Andy?
It was jumping the Friday night before this.. I just think people don’t go out Christmas Eve anymore
It was rammed every Friday night and twice the size for venues.
Bessemer used to be pig and whistle.
I worked behind the bar there, 40 years ago. Sheffield has changed beyond imagination now.
@JohnPaulJones-z7c used to go in at dinner time for your chip butties.
Was also The Fountain Bar.
That is the name I remember. Was it downstairs?
Not for the better.
I can’t believe that’s Christmas Eve ! What the hell happened ! Wow used to be rammed on a Christmas Eve 😂😂
‘Mad Friday’ has taken over from Xmas Eve in the same way Halloween has taken over from Bonfire night… all these places were rammed on the Friday before Xmas.
It would have been rammed every Friday and Saturday and Christmas eve. Most of the venues have been killed off the reason for my tour. If Code Sheffield is the best nightclub Sheffield is doomed, it was just Berlins.
That is grim, very grim.
Was the grim reaper following me around. I never expected this.
We were at Crosspool Tavern last Saturday 21st dec for my eldest daughters bday...they were closing at 10:30pm wasn't full when we went in at 7pm for bday meal we were last ones in at 10pm...it's shocking!!
Too expensive.
Lol your not from the 80s my guess is the 1800 victorian days lol not really only joking I bet you was born 1965 or something mate hope you are doing ok and happy Christmas I'm not much of a Christmas present so happy holidays instead keep up the good work bro
1964 Andy. But my nightlife was Premier in the 80s. Thought I may see you?
I remember Wig n Pen was cosy little pub.
I thought it was nice.
Sheffield is NO more....DEAD!
I'm not surprised at all, the financial squeeze going on and the new normal since the bad flu.
Reset in plane view
Last Friday was mad Friday and it definitely was mad in Sheffield last Friday I was out drinking and two guys but apparently three guys got glassed in the same place Sheffield was packed last Friday it was super busy
There are half of the night spots to the 80s/90sAndy. No decent nightclubs left.
@@timawells Id guess it less than a quarter the amount of bars and pubs, less than 10% of the nightclubs even compared to the mid 2000's. That's why people are saying it was packed last Friday when really it's still dead, everyone just crammed into the few remaining venues.
Students gone home for xmas.
They don' appeal to real Sheffielders.
yes it was called rebels nightclub . it was for heavy metal music( and a pub called wapentake- def leppard came in there same time as me!)..people!.i used to go in alot in it . also cairo jax … the roxy . nothing left now .im from southey green area , im 55 can i have the 80s back pls.
Some say that we are living the past, I think its the other way around.
Yorkshireman was originally across from Coles then moved lower down road round the corner near Salvation army place...that was demolished so they moved to what used to be Mulberry Tavern.
I did walk down there and point out. I covered a lot.
Stone house popular pub me n sister went into every weekend.
It boasted that it had the longest bar in Europe in the 1980s Great meeting place. I had many a drink in there. Happy days❤
Spoilt when the Shambles shut down.
My older sister regular drinking spot...Crazy Daisy...I went in few times before it closed down, also a pub called Blue Bell which is now called Cavells
I think it was Geisha at one bit.
Was it The Yorkshire Grey pub not far from The Roebuck that had architectural heritage and importance that SCC knocked down?? 🤔
I was thinking the same thing. It was a decent pub in the 80's and 90's. Had my first date with my other half there in 1993.
I think it has that awful modern car park on it Steve.
@@timawells Yep, the very same cheese grater. 😉
Wapentake was where the new grosvenor is now opposite henrys.

Truly.
Andy Wig and Pen is the original name that I knew it as. Solicitors and bakers dinner time pub.
Cairo Jack's became the corporation, then the dole office
Another name for it?
Lights are on but no ones home as for Blue ribbon award 😂
Mary Celeste.
Who does this Sheffield serve ? absolute ghost town more taxi engines running than people .. glad I had my late teens in the mid eighties .. I feel sorry for them young lads .. what a shame . . .All the best Tim🎄
I wish you could have heard them better but the expression on their faces said it all Crissy. They also said mobiles spoilt the nightlife anyway.
Only thing missing is tumble weed
There were things in the shadows you wouldn't see,
Glory Hole is an adult themed mini golf venue, not a pub. Judging by the lack of people, seems they played it right by not opening.
South Yorkshire police making sure all is safe lol. You have a great sense of humour. Anyway you should of come to rotherham were the police say all is legal unless your a victim then they are professionals at quietly telling them to shut up and everything is legal for some.
My grandad was Chief inspector of Sheffield police. I went for an interview with the Desk Sargent at my local station in the 80s, what a bully.
The diversify alhua akbar car blockers are amazing
Great contribution chav!
They're raising the bus fare cap by 50% on the 1st of January. Great planning again SCC, punish motorists and those who use public transport, everyone loses!
Manchester aren't.
All Bar One is still the same name as when 1st opened.
I was surprised to see the Miller & Butler Steakhouse finally opened in what was the Halifax Building Society branch. It had a planning permission notice on it for 5/6 years with nowt happening, then obviously the pandemic hit, so put pay to that.
I though the All bar one was All in Bar or something like that Steve?
@@timawells I'm trying to remember if was a bank or building society branch before? 🤔 Possibly Abbey National?? 🤔

I was in the right direction that it was up the stairs, but to the right no the new location.
We went down town one nye was dead so came home early.

We went to Rebels....rock club.
@@stellahawkins1958 so did I those stairs were a nightmare.
Sheffield centre needs more restaurants and tourist attractions to lure people out. Not everyone wants to go out to just get hammered in clubs/pubs anymore. Times have changed and Sheffield is stuck in the past unfortunately.
Its got too many restaurants that are empty. Not everyone wants to pig themselves on over prices junk food.
It was pig n whistle now Bessemer
Also used to be The Fountain Bar.
I remember it as the Fountain bar, I couldn't remember the name Steve.
I thought I was from the future not the past.
Face it its not just Sheffield its South Yorkshire thats dead - You stand more chance outside south yorkshire - West yorkshire Nottinghamshire North Yorkshire Ect. Sheffield Ha FORGET IT Christmas markets 95% Booz wich
is defo over priced
I would be interested to know how Leeds and Manchester were Christmas eve?
Looks rubbish not as I remember, so sad😢
Even if it had been full most of the nightlife has gone Pamela.
I remember Waingate/Haymarket full of lights during the Christmas period.
Used to get excited when coming in from the Wicker on the bus as a kid to see the lights. Seen more lights in a cemetery nowadays.
Rebels ha ha. Damn. What a great Rock pub. Full of idiots though. Especially the Druid Crew. John Lee and all his superiors. Sparrow. Snake. All good people of course. For sure.
