That's what I thought, no way it's that early.
Check out the trip down market Street SF one made in 1906. Almost all horse drawn. The weaning off horses to all auto period must have been longer than five years.

Yeah, someone needs to correct the year, please. This is from 1920. You can tell this because one of the buses is advertising POLLY WITH A PAST, which was released in 1920.

My dad was born in 1911. This film is a bit later than that though. If you look at other early films from around 1910, there are still a lot of horse drawn vehicles, and women wore longer dresses.
Yes, I agree. Horse drawn wagons were still quite common in 1920. I didn't really see any in this film. And some of the autos were definitely 1920s. And you are totally correct about the women's hemlines. They were still down to the ankles until after WW1.
I did enjoy the violin though - skillfully played and I think the piece captured an element of melancholy from the period.

Both were pinnacles of European people western civilization. It is saddening looking at the state of both now witnessing the drawn out death of the west. Life was harder back then but look how everyone carried themselves. Won't talk about how even the poor dressed better than most people today. You can bet there were far more polite nods and ''Good morning'' between complete strangers back then too. Today you can barely look someone else in the eye without worrying they may take it as a sign of aggression.
Wasn't that was the era of the Great War? Was that the pinnacle of Western civilizations? Hatred and imperialism were alive and well. The West was pillaging the rest of the world to enjoy their higher living standards. The US was still segregated and the blacks were still oppressed. What is your point?
