Do you want to group data in a report but the data doesn't have a consistent naming convention? For example, you want to group deals by dollar amount, but you don't want a separate row for each amount. Maybe you'd like to group your deals according to small, medium, and large. Buckets are the easiest way to do this! Whenever you want to group data by some criteria thats not actually a field value, use buckets. Maybe you want to group employees by who was hired each quarter. You create buckets for q1 - 4, and then group the employees, by hire date, into each bucket!
