    Frankly, any patient who lies to their doctor should be exempt from all forms of malpractice lawsuits.

      To be fair, if the malpractice is unrelated to the lie, that shouldn't bar them from suing. But the fact that they lied should definitely be taken into account if it causes problems down the line.

      I had a surgeon who lied to me, she has multiple class action suits against her, but, when I asked a lawyer if I could seek a malpractice suit, they said no because lying was involved, and that it didn't matter who was lying. X.x

    The tampon one... how is that woman still alive!?!? Pretty much every brand screams up and down to take them out after 12 hours max to avoid a life-threatening infection.... 7 years... holy shit.

    • @allyenderman1502
      @allyenderman1502 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      It's not often guaranteed you'll end up with toxic shock. It tends to rely on the bacteria you already have cultivating down there naturally, and the tampon is a FANTASTIC breeding ground for microbes. You can still end up septic after awhile but it also depends on how resiliant your body is and how much your vagina absorbs into your body. Biology is weird.

    • @moleyface
      @moleyface 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@allyenderman1502 Interesting. I've never been told about it in that much depth (only enough to keep safe in daily life, obviously), so I just got the shorthand version of "take the dang tampon out before microbes breed and spread".
      But it's morbidly fascinating how much that can vary. The human body really is wild.

    • @allyenderman1502
      @allyenderman1502 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@moleyface I mean it's generally a good idea to make sure you take the dang thing out like the packagjng says, just in case you've developed a bloom of this bacteria anyways, but yeah it's not always a specific thing anyone will get. Usually it'll make you pretty sick though, ao the fact that she had it in there for seven years without incident is... honestly terrifying.

    Everybody lies.
    To be fair, addicts often aren't aware of how much they took, which is part of the problem. It's hard to tell if they're lying or if they don't even know

    • @redshirt49
      @redshirt49 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      The other thing is that most people are unaware that doctors won't report such things to the police. The reason they don't is so addicts won't be afraid to check themselves into the ER.

    My mom is a nurse and has people coming in with CRAZY situations before.
    One lady, was not suicidal, but simply was BEGGING for attention. Sooo she swallowed NEEDLES. SEWING NEEDLES! She wanted attention from her family and wasnt getting it and this was the result. She was a full grown woman by the way.
    Well then they got the needles out surgically and she left the hospital fine.
    Then a while later, she comes back. You know what she did? That’s right, she swallowed MORE NEEDLES. I guess she didn’t get enough attention the first time. She’s doing okay physically but I don’t know about mentally.

      Seriously! It’s a common side effect with some SSRIs, and some people are effected more severely than others. I take an SSRI that’s notorious for cockblocking people but I have no issues. I’ve been on it for a few years and I’ve never had any difficulty achieving orgasm. I have a friend though who was on the same medication for a while that just couldn’t cum at all under just about any circumstances and ultimately had to switch because her quality of life was suffering. Either she’d stop taking her meds for a few days so she could nut when she had a date, or she’d take her meds as prescribed and be incapable of orgasm. So she switched and I haven’t heard her complain about not being able to cum since. There’s options out there.

    I don't understand why people can't admit to problems about their genitals or butt.
    Like I am 150% open and honest, saying it like it is, I am not shitting around because I know time is sparse for docs anyway so I want to get ACTUAL help for my ACTUAL problem asap and not waste everyone's time and maybe risk my health by lying to hospital staff. Because either they find out anyway and being caught lying would be 10x worse and more embarrassing imho than admitting I have, idk, a pear in my ass? Or they don't find out and I go home with the same problem I came in with and probably only get worse until I have to go to the ER again anway and admit what happened, or die at home.
