      I have a much better jar opening hack for you. Take a flat utensil (like a butter knife or if you prefer a flat head screwdriver. It just has to be sturdy and thin enough to fit between the lid and jar rim). Stick it between the lid and the jar rim. Twist (the knife or screwdriver). Wait to hear a "pop" of air. Open the jar. Try it. It couldn't be easier and you'll never use anything else after - Anna

      I just take the butter knife and tap it to break the seal or bang it on the counter top a couple times and pops the seals.?I have never had a glass jar break before. That’s how my mom and grandma did it! Lol

      I like the idea of the denture cleaner in the toilet but I use denture cleaners for another purpose. Use them in your stainless steel thermos's (like a Stanley thermos) and also use it in your glass coffee pot, not the coffee maker. Add hot water to the item and add one or two denture tablets (depending on how big), let sit for a little while and you will be amazed at how well it cleans these items. (I accidentally left the water and denture cleaner in a thermos we don't use often for a couple of weeks and the yuk that came out was as amazing as it was gross! But the darn thing looked brand new inside). Imagine what this stuff does for dentures!! Rose

    The reason why many previously unopened food jars are hard to open, is because a vacuum has formed in the jar lid. By placing a spoon under the bottom edge of the jar lid, and lifting the edge of the jar lid just a little, allowing a bit of air to enter into the jar, it will break the vacuum grip on the lid, and the lid will open easily, without strain.

    • @lauriepayseur5897
      @lauriepayseur5897 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      I came to say this. I don’t always use a spoon. Sometimes a butter knife… just anything that lifts the tiniest bit to break the vacuum seal. And VIOLA!

      I have this problem with jars of hot sauce we can. If you turn it upside down and hit the lid on the counter, it breaks the seal and makes it easy to open.

    • @angelaspicer2753
      @angelaspicer2753 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I use the handle of a spoon, fork, knife to bang the edge of the lid (making a small indent to allow air in) with zero strain. I usually do 3 times around jar to make sure, but one is enough. Sometimes I take the table knife (non-pointed) and put the tip under lip and twist up. Should hear pop and then jar will open.

    I've been using the sheet set storage tip for years now. I first saw it on Martha Stewart's show many years ago. It's the best way to keep all pieces together without looking for pillow cases. I couldn't tell if you turned the pillow case "bag" inside out or not but I do that to make sure it stays clean. My grandmother showed me how to fold the fitted sheet and I try to teach family members but they would rather me do it. LOL! I love the denture tab hack! Definitely will be trying that one. I have 2 dogs and shy away from using any harsh chemicals in the toilet in case they decide to have a drink. By the way, fingers crossed for a purple drill! 💜💜

    For a moldable ice pack use a solution of 50/50 alcohol and water. Place a folded washcloth in the solution, wring it out so that it is still wet, but not excessively dripping, and then place it in the sandwich or snack-sized bag and freeze. ALWAYS be sure to place a layer of cloth between the "icebag" and your skin so that you do not further damage injured skin.

    Love these hacks as always! If having trouble with a lid I run it under hot water then tap if needed with a utensil. I plan to use the frame/outlet hack! For the cell phone cords I use the round rubber grips at the top back of my nighstands so they don't slip off the hook. I've used hydrogen peroxide for years for blood. I just spilled spaghetti sauce on my ivory colored rug yesterday and was able to completely remove it with peroxide, some stain remover spray and a little dish soap. You cannot tell anything was ever spilled. You can also use the bread bag tags for labeling various cords and attach them like for the mass of cords behind the TV. Then instead of using the tags for the bread wrapper, just twist the bag opening and fold back over the loaf.

  • @brendalawrence6732
    @brendalawrence6732 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    To open jars, I just use a wide rubber band off produce-like celery. I keep one or two in my drawer and it opens jar really well as you have something to grip on to. I also have a "vacuum seal" breaker tool (a spoon would work as well) that I love as well. I love the frame idea over the outlets, so creative and looks so great! Please do a test in a place that won't show when using hydrogen peroxide as it can lift color on some fabrics. But yes, been using it to lift blood for years! So looking forward to your tool line reveal!!! As far as the color, I have no clue, maybe a neutral gray/tan color? LOL Great hacks for around the home, some I've been using for years, but some are new to me as well. Hugs, Brenda

    I use the plastic bread ties as cord labelers behind my TV. They slip over the electric cords easily, and a fine point permanent marker works well to label. One for the TV, one for the DVD player and one for my Bose radio. That way if I need to unplug only one, I know which one it is. Thx for sharing how to fold a fitted sheet. However, I take it one step further. After tucking the 2 opposite corners I put them together again & fold all four corners into one. It's easy to lay out & square up. My Momma showed me long ago & said this is how they come out of the pkg. I have been framing my light fixtures for years & it does look very cool. Thx for sharing that also. I buy a bag of ice & fill my seal a meal bags to desired sizes. Mainly use them to ice the water when I make hard boiled eggs in the Instant Pot. It saves water & unlike the blue ice ones from the store if they spring a leak, no big deal & no toxins. I can refreeze them too. I enjoyed this episode. Thx 💥

    When you fold the fitted sheet, bring one of the ends inside the other, then square it up. Folds much easier. Then, fold your flat sheet long ways. Put the fitted sheet in the middle of the long folded flat sheet and put your folded pillowcases on top. Fold your flat sheet one end on top of the fitted sheet and pillowcases, then fold the other end. And you only have to grab the one flat sheet because the rest of the set is encased all together.

    We save those thick rubber bands that comes around fresh vegetables and use those to open lids. You just place the rubber band around the lid. It gives your hands a grip that helps twist the lid.

    I use felt pads and double sided tape on the back of the felt pad , place it inside my dresser drawers and add a couple of drops of my favorite essential oil.
    You can change the felt pads whenever you want a different scent.

    Great Hacks, Natalee. Looking forward to your new Tool Range.
    My duvet covers don't have ties inside, and as I'm a single-mum, always struggled to put the covers on for years, especially after my accident, - I'd even crawl inside to try and get the ends on, ended up looking like I was fighting the cat!! 🤣now I turn them inside out and put a clothes peg on all corners, then grab top and bottom corners on my side, quick shake, and it's done. Do this on single, double and Kingsize, works every time.
    I put a denture tablet inside the bowl and leave it overnight then flush in the morning, but will try putting it in the tank, Also if you have any Coca-Cola that is out of date [or ask your local supermarket if they have any out dated stock] if you pour that inside the bowl, leave overnight, flush in the morning, brings the bowl up like new. Coca-Cola is also great for removing rust on items too.

    I like to fold my fitted sheet into a long rectangular shape. I fold the top sheet in a similar way and stack the two on top of each other. For the pillow cases, I fold them lengthwise and place them on top of the stack. Finally, I fold the 2 ends to meet in middle and fold once more time to make a square stack. Everything is all together and easy to handle.

    I have a hint when putting on sheets. I use to have problems figuring out if my king sheets were going on side ways or straight until I realized that the tag in the inside corner always goes on the bottom left ( looking from the head of the bed) or caddy corner ( top right). One less frustration on changing day.😊

    For opening stuck jars, I just use a bottle opener. I lift up an edge just until I hear the pop, then it opens right up. I don't reef on it until the jar lid "warps", just until the seal pops. Congratulations on your line of power tools. I think you are the best, and you deserve much success. (Also glad to see that you seem to be feeling better).

      I want to do this, but I have 2 side by side fixtures. One with 3 switches will work with a 5x7, but the other one is a double switch. The size is not going to work with a standard sized frame. I guess I’ll have to beg my husband to create a custom frame to match the purchased one.

    Pour rice into a sock, tie in a knot, heat in microwave for a couple of minutes, wrap around your neck to ease pain. It provides a moist heat that feels so good. Keeps being moist heat after lots of uses. It helps with other painful also.

    Another option to open those tight glass jar lids is to use the pointy end of an old fashioned bottle opener. Tuck under the edge of metal lid and pull up gently….repeat several times around the lid of the jar and the vacuum seal will release and easily screw off. I deal with a lot of arthritis and loss of strength in my hands so I use this a lot!

    To open a jar Darlin, take a butter knife under the lid a few times. It will unpressurize it and open it soooo easily for you I promise. Much easier than the tape trick. ❤️

    I will take my candles when I have burned them down as far as is recommended. I will place them in a pan with water and gently heat the remaining wax until it melts and then pour it into a silicone mold of course removing the wicks as I go. I then have wax melts that I can use and there is no waste. I store them in a mason jar but, any airtight container will work. I love this hack!!
