- Ever since the trailer for House of the Dragon dropped, we’re sure everyone’s been wondering just how many dragons did the Targaryens used to own?! For fans of Game of Thrones - and we don’t know how many are left after Season 8 - the sight of the might of House Targaryen might be a brand-new spectacle. After all, Daenerys Targaryen only had 3 dragons, and you could really exchange them for one another in terms of personality and even CGI. By contrast, the Targaryen dragons of her ancestors not only look like the fearsome beasts described in George R. R. Martin’s epic saga, they also act like them. Every dragon we saw in the trailer, showed personality - especially a certain Bloody Wyrm that we will get to - but that got us thinking: is HBO going all-in on the source material? Because in Fire & Blood, at the peak of their power in Westeros, the Targaryens controlled a score of dragons; it’s just unfortunate that that was at the eve of a civil war. Given the fact that they’ve gone through the effort to make the dragon bones black as opposed to the museum exhibits of its predecessor, we’d wager that House of the Dragon plans to be as faithful an adaptation as it can be. And that can only mean one thing for us here at Marvelous Videos: it’s time to talk about every dragon that will appear in House of the Dragon - Ranked. And before you dive in, let us warn you that there are inevitably going to be some spoilers in this video. So proceed with caution.

It’s crucial to remember that Fire and Blood is mostly a fantastic history book.
Meaning that some things may happen in the show that weren’t discussed in the book.
So we could still see some of the lesser dragons have some feats in the show.
I can’t wait to see more of Caraxes! Daemon was nailed with Matt Smith and I’ve got a good feeling about the rest of the series!
Yes we can see that he and his dragon share a special bond just like daenerys and drogon
Ironically enough Caraxes was the dragon of Daemon’s uncle, the father of Rhaenys, who is his political rival for much of their youth although they end up on the same side. Caraxes’s first rider Aemon did often ride alongside his siblings who were Daemon’s parents, with Daemon’s mother Alyssa taking them up on her dragon Meleys when he was just days old, so Caraxes has literally known Daemon since pretty much the day he was born. It’s quite sweet how close of a relationship they have. The fact that Rhaenys took Daemon’s mother’s dragon and Daemon took Rhaenys’s father’s dragon may hint to how intertwined their stories are, since despite them being first cousins Rhaenys becomes Daemon’s mother in law lol

It’s scales were like golden armor and it’s wings were pink. Imagine that dragon descending from the sky with the sun shining down on it.

yea sunfire and the way it went out will be harsh to watch considering its was so beauty. Dreamfyre color wise I find more attractive and thats shes a slender she dragon, I hope shes pretty even at her prime.

Ryan Condol, head writer for HOTD, said we’ll get 17 dragons overall but only see 9 during the first season. Great video! Love the attention to details.
"Only"? Nine is great for a first season of a few episodes only.
Why 17? There are 20-21 Dragons involved in The Dance.

I was just thinking about this, I think they might be cutting the few dragons that don't really do anything in the Dance, being:
- Morghul;
- Shrykos;
- Tyraxes;
- Cannibal, maybe?
It's a bit of a shame, wish they could do all of them, but it's understandable why at least those that stay in the Dragonpit wouldn't be shown.

I think you mean Grey Ghost, but yeah, could be. Still, it's a dragon fight that ends up being important, since it's what lures Baela and Moondancer to Dragonstone, so I'm assuming that, if they don't show the battle itself, they should at least show the dead Grey Ghost, which counts I guess?
So between Cannibal and Grey Ghost I would lean more towards Cannibal being cut, and maybe just mentioned or something.
caraxes is unique, a dragon created for its rider, damon had many options to claim as Vermathor and vhagar but preferred the Blood Wyrm, his evil, unpredictable and feared clone, who loves chaos ,everything we want to see on the show
Vhagar is going to be badass! Looking forward to that epic dragon duel above the God's Eye!
I loved Drogon too. He is a beautiful dragon. It will be nice to see more dragons, different ones and also more of their personality.

@@Radec913 so far because Seasmoke looks similar maybe better with the horn shapes. Dreamfyre is the mother of Danys dragons so she might look like a slender f Drogon in blue!

These dragons look badass.
Just imagine if like the books each dragon also breathed different colored fire just like color of their body .. for example balerion flames were dark black with red streak .. sunfyre had golden flames .. Tessarions fire was cobalt blue .. Quick silver had pale white fireballs

I was waiting for you guys to mention Morning! Though I suppose she’s born towards the end of the Dance & never fights. Something about a pink dragon with black horns and golden wing membranes just excites the pastel goth in me. Hopefully we’ll see her in the final season! I’m so excited.

Cannibal is most likely dead. Balerion was over 200yo when he died. Tho his wound from Valyria could've contributed to it. Cannibal was also pretty old (presumably) during the dance
@@gudhaxer41343 Most likely, i kind of wish they used him in the Game of Thrones as the dragon Night King rides. But that would create more issues with the plot.

I would love a video of Silverwing, and a video of Dreamfyre as well.
I really loved the dragons in house of the dragon. While we go a few episodes with no dragons and that frustrated me, I loved their designs being so different we could easily tell them apart, from color to silhouette. The final episode definitely had the best dragons. The only thing I hated was how dark the whole series was, if I wasn't in pitch black I could tell what was going on...

Balerion died of old age, Viserys 1 was the last to ride the dragon and never bonded with another following its death.

i hope to see cannibal, by the dance of dragons he mustve outgrown balerion since he was much older, the biggest untamed dragon of the time, he shouldve been seen in HotD since he flew over corlys velaryons funeral, imagine seeing a beast almost twice the size of balerion. i hope he makes it to the screen
PD he was one of the 4 dragons surviving the dance of dragons, and dissapeard. Not to be seen again, also, dragons in freedom live much longer, balerion died cuz he was kept in the pit for his last 20 years while cannibal was always free.

Great video. You should do a updated version showing some of the Dragon’s that have appeared now that season 1 is over. I mean like actually showing the TV show version of them.

@MrYounis26 when vhagar is nearly double the size of caraxes, even the blacks' big dragons are still nowhere near the size of vhagar... well, maybe vermithor, but besides him, the blacks would need to 2 v 1 vhagar at the least if they want to win. Sunfyre and dreamfyre aren't that big yet, so vhagar is the greens main weapon of war I'd say.

Could you maybe cover the Comic Series „Once and Future“ ? It’s amazing. It’s like Hellboy and Grimm mixed with the Legend of King Arthur . Bloody, dark, sometimes funny but most of the time badass brutal. For example a huge Barbarian riding on a gigantic fire breathing Lion chasing a Car while rhe protagonists (A guy and his grumpy but badass Grandma) are trying to fight him with MG. And King Arthur as the undead main Antagonist is just bonechilling

I believe it is Vermithor that Daemon is bonding with in the dragon pit and not Caraxes. It seems logical as Vermithor is but just a tiny bit smaller than Vhagar

Probably, although Sunfyre grew faster than any other dragon and had serious potential to be the greatest dragon of all. Provided they stayed out of the dragon pit.

these types of dragons are beautifull specialy the white and blue ones.
Gooood video, seems like the series is not that faithful to all those details, they are doing a good job, but I miss words being spoken about each dragon, they are slightly different but nothing that helps us identify them. Vhagar, Caraxes and Syrax are the only ones that you can notice major characteristics, but Seasmoke, Dreamfyre, Arrax, Vermax were not barely saw on this first season. I don't see the series willing to focus that much on dragons, they will probably cut most of the less important ones.
Cannibal in House of the Dragon ? .. i rlly want to see it , but if Balerion die of old age , even if Cannibal lives more then Balerion after so many years its dead ...

In your cartoon picture of Alyssa T. I am seeing heterochromia? Right eye is purple and the other looks green. Also Caraxes looks most like a wyrm than any of the others. The Blood Wyrm name fits.
Syrax child was the only dragon who survive after the dance ( MORNING ). And some of Syrax eggs were not hatch.
I wish you stuck to the backstories and description only. It would have made a more acessable video. Like many others I don't want to know about their fates.

Lol seems like the dragons, wold and claimed, basically went “Fuck these humans” and leaves out some no more of them would die, and dragons aren’t actually extinct by the end if game of thrones. They are flying creatures after all, they would be able to travel and settle most anywhere

Too bad we don’t get to see Bellerian the black dread in season one, The great council convenience in year 101 I believe and the black dread died in year 94 so it takes place 7 years after his death.
And yes I have read all the books so I’m a big book reader not just the TV fan even though I love the live action to the books were better.
Love the books as well, except the 4th one. It is by far my least favorite in the series
