Great bit of interview. When you hear Squeeze you KNOW it’s Squeeze. There isn’t another band like them. I’ve been a fan since an old boyfriend first played “Tempted” for me when I was 15 and here we are now celebrating the 40th anniversary of “East Side Story”. As I started seeing them when I was so young it’s like I’m a Squeeze fan from the “Cradle to the Grave”🎵♥️🎸
Great singer, songwriter and just an all round brilliantly talented musician. Always been my favourite artist. Can't wait to see him play live again. Always superb! Thanks for the music Glenn.
Gran compositor, entrevistador inteligente. 05:55 "I'm not that good at improvising stuff when I do a solo I try to COMPOSE it" 07:16 (about the octave-voices- squeeze-trademark) "That's how we sounded when we opened our mouth together" XD. 08:33 "Whenever I get a dark lyric from Chris my instinct is to make it more palatable so They tend to be the more chirpy tunes to contradict that "depressing " nature of some of those lyrics (LOL)". A Very British Point of View: From John Dowland to The Smith
I disagree with Glenn about him not being good at improvising. He may not do it on a guitar solo like on "Another Nail In My Heart", but if you listen to live performances of, say, "If I didn't Love You", or "Pulling Mussels From the Shell", he adds a lot of extras to the solos he originally composed. Also, he adds some great short improvised solo jams to songs during performances, an example being at the end of "Black Coffee In Bed".
I wonder if Paul remembers being asked if he was Paul Merton while he was having a drink in Carpenters pub in London. My pal realised straight away and was so embarrassed 😂. He took it in great part . Best of luck.
No disrespect intended but this is such a wasted opportunity in my opinion. The questions are either banal (looking forward to playing Seattle?) or questions Glenn has had to answer so many times before that the answers are easily findable online. A true fan would ask real fan questions and I get the sense you don't actually know much about Squeeze but just know "the hits". So sad to see, especially knowing that I will probably never speak with Glenn, who was my hero during childhood and will never know how much Squeeze (and him in particular) meant to me.
The interview was done for a Seattle TV program with a very general audience to promote an upcoming performance so I didn't want to use the ten minutes on questions only the Golden Tonys of the world wanted to ask. I don't know how you define a "true fan" but I have half a dozen Squeeze albums and rank Argybargy as one of my all time top 20 favorite records. That said, I will alert you if I get another chance to interview Glenn so you can give me a question to ask.
@@eveningmagazine Ah, I see. Fair point. I didn't realise and assumed it was a "local" interview with someone who wasn't a particular fan. What you say makes sense and of course you couldn't go too in depth for a tv program with a general audience. Apologies for the assumption. Thanks for the offer too, but I would have hundreds of questions and could never pick a couple out like that. Sometimes it's better not to meet your heroes too as sometimes it's better to have a certain amount of mystery. Thanks again.
Such a lovely man

Squeeze is all about Glenn’s vocal sound. Great tone. Memorable
Not sure, it is like picking between McCartney and Lennon
Chris is an amazing lyricist!
This was great! All hail Glenn, my favorite guitarist of all time!
Great axe player.

Lovely to see this! 42 years ago, I watched Squeeze for the first time...still magic
Absolutely an awesome song writer and musician, and don't get me started on how great Squeeze was as a band! What a gift to mankind!
I saw Squeeze this August in Hershey, PA. It was a great show. I’m so glad I went. Glenn and Chris sound as good as ever, and the band was tight.
Man, I still love these guys. Found this vid after a squeeze binge marathon this week. ❤️
Im on that squeeze binge marathon right now, then found this vid, going to watch a more up to date vid 2022 interview next.
I feel the same as the interviewer. But further Glenn and Chris were a force of nature in my childhood. So grateful for what they produced
Thank you ! A lovely interview. Squeeze are so English...makes me proud!
I saw Squeeze live in St. louis in the 1990s it was great!
Absolute legend. Great band.
Just thrilled to see GT’s smiling and talking face! His longer-ish hair is fun to see, as well. Way cool.
Nice interview! Thank you 💜
Some fantastic place is my favourite squeeze song, hope they include it in set

Good ol' Tilbo'! He and der Andy Partridge are the most ace original guitarists der Welt! All songwriting and vocal prowess aside.

I love Glenn, I want to Marry him
Seattle today! Really?

And me with just my tie on …..
more in line with the Beatles than they realize. superb.
He meant alphabetically at the end there...
Squeeze were great in their day...end of.
