Lando is literally showing the same mistakes that leclerc did. Not having the understanding and trust in yourself to make decisions. While overdriving it to often, just again losing at the start a position because he is staying behind lewis so close that max can easily outbreak him. That's those 5 sec he would have needed to stay infront after the mistakes at the pitstop. But to many mistakes like everytime. Even Oscar is able to call it in seconds after just 1 year of f1, that's why he looks for me much more like a potential champion

As a Lando fan, I will agree that Lando need to be firm with his decisions. But it doesn’t help when his race engineer relayed the information as “softs to cover hamilton, mediums to cover verstappen”. McLaren saved the new set of medium for this exact scenario, and they should have pushed for the tyre instead of letting lando choose (not learning from Sochi 21).

Daniel had issues with his car throughout practice which affected handling so could only attempt to dial it in during the rainy session. Then his car wouldn't start just before the race so they had to revert to a used PSU, he was 6 kph slower than Yuki on the straight. It's bizarre how commentators never seem aware of these things.

In all honesty, Mercedes should have never gone the zero pods route, if they had simply played it safe they would be winning this year's constructors.
Next year will be awesome, sad Lewis is leaving as i do not think Ferrari can iron out their issues, they are yet demonstrate they can develop a car over the course of a season. It was a genuine battle for the win for a decent portion of the race. On top of that lewis getting a win in his home gp makes it extra nice. Moreover, there was intrigue with hulkenberg holding his position to get points for haas.

I understand and agree with what you say about Sky and British bias. That's why I bought an F1TV subscription... only to find out they're still an all-Brit broadcast and just as bad (they were complaining abut how 'continental' F1 has become a few weeks ago). It's still a British sport, there's just no getting away from it. If anyone knows how to get even a French or Spanish language broadcast online I'd take it.

He's a bit of a clown so I just rolled my eyes but it stands out when only 3-4 drivers get airtime and the whole crew was gushing. In my fantasy world there's biased coverage for every race based on nationality, gimme a Canadian lunatic who can't stop raving about Stroll and a Mexican with a heavy accent explaining Checo's glory. I want a more diverse narrative is all.

Loads of races are 10/10 in hindsight, Maybe in 5 years time we will look at this and others as 10/10's.
Or maybe I think if we had lead switching on the last 2/3 laps it would have solidified it as 10/10

Ok so real talk, what if sauber is gaming the system and sandbagging to get all the atr and work on 2026. Like I know they can't "work on" the 2026 cars until 2025, but you could look at the impact of wheelbase on aerodynamics on a 2025 car etc to learn things that can be applicable for 2026.

I feel like lando has a certain desperation like max showed in 2018. Definitely not as bad but the mindset isn't working, all or nothing not calculated. He got mugged by max at the start which put him further behind the Mercs than he should've been. Take a breather, you have a fast car. Don't try things on Lewis like that on the first lap, especially since you'll probably have the best tires at the end of a stint.

Oscar’s communication with his team engineer is far ahead of Lando’s. It’s a case of instincts (Lando) vs instincts + data (Oscar), in that Oscar constantly reviews the data pre-race and strategies options while driving. The rate of Oscar’s progress since the Miami GP has been significant, and he must come away with a GP win in 2024. As this is only his second year in F1, I expect Oscar to learn how to compete against the top 4 drivers (Max, Lando, Lewis and Charles). I see Oscar being able to compete for the WDC in 2025. There is one clear outcome of the British GP: there is clear proof that Oscar has sorted out his tyre management issues.
My other take, Oscar can take on Max in 2025.
Surely, with Carlos’s recent performances over Charles, he deserves to be driving for Mercedes next year. If this happens, you still have the top 7 drivers in the top 4 teams.

McLaren cost oscar another race win. They are a disgrace and i hope he leaves to merc or redbull when out of contract. Its bullshit he has to compete against the other drivers and his own team. Zac didn't seem impressed with the mclaren strategy and i hope he fires them all. Another lando bottlejob by picking the wrong tyres and going long in the pitt. Screwing oscar over for that bottlejob is laughable mclaren.

That's still not a excuse, he called the medium and instead of catching up 5 sec or 10 sec he was 20 sec behind while needing to overtake aswell. If that's lewis the hole chat would be full with robbed and sabotage. That's a rookie mistake to really think he wouldn't look time on a wet track full of high speed turns......

Oscar wasn't faster than Lando overall. He only got closer just before pitting to inters, and on the final stint (when Norris had worse tyres).
He's a great driver, but McLaren is right to prioritise Lando over Oscar at the moment. Norris is better at race pace, and better (on average) at qualifying. Maybe it will change in a few years, but not right now.

If you'll listen to the radio chat it wasn't really Lando's fault for the medium. The team weren't strong enough, they just asked if he wanted to cover off 1st or 2nd and Lando said 1st. Team should have had clearer communication

Yeah I mean this win was 90% the overdramatized story blown up by media. "He gets his first win after struggling with the car for 2.5 years (first time in his career tbf) at his home race which proves he still is a goat". Like firstly ffs this man for the whole career had the fastest cars. So this narrative with him "suffering" in 3rd fastest car for 2.5 years is just pathetic. Most of the grid would never get an opportunity to be in 3rd fastest car let alone 2nd or 1st. Most of the grid including great talents are fighting for points and would kill for even a podium and I am supposed to be truly sad that he didn't won a race for 2.5 years after winning regularly for like 10 years? And people acting like he was the person who deserved the win the most almost like he was entilted to win here and like he is entilted to always have the fastest car. At least that's the vibe I am getting from his fans. Overall I'm glad he won but I can name like at least 2 drivers on the grid who deserve a win more: Piastri and Hulk who truly deserves better team and at least a podium. Yeah I'm sure Hulk relates to Lewis' struggles very much.
