Word, though I hope they'd able to balance the chassis's a little better better and make odd-level looted capacitors, engines, etc. not such garbage.

I have taken a long repose in weighing in on such matters, I might do emu sometime in the future.
To put the one more minecraft stick into the port of SOE hell can just jam it into their craw forevermore, let them remember.
I play both versions. if I want that nostalgic feeling that I experienced in 2003 and run around in a pure sandbox, I play SMGEMU. When I want to experience more scripted content, then I play SWG Legends. :)
I think the Ai changes like stalking were added by the Emu devs. So in theory similar Ai changes could be added to any of the servers would be very cool.
Really enjoyed the SWGEMU vids Napyet. I only played a little in the pre-cu days, and I don’t think I really got it and didn’t understand it at the time. I played a lot on The NG stage and after at the time, around 2007 or so. I jumped into Legends for a while, but fell off.
Seeing you play this, and sort of seeing how it works, and the fact everyone starting out, got me very interested. I decided to try it out, and I’m really enjoying it. I have a guy I’m looking to do as rifleman / Scout / Creature handler, and I have my Artisan I’ve been working on as well.
I don’t mind the slower grind, and starting to get the knack of it…. I think 😃

as a crafter i returned to pre-CU a long time ago but as an adult gamer i discovered problems that I didnt know about when I played as a young man, like how there are resource bottlenecks that a single bot can completly prevent the whole server from accessing (arkley bones ect). I feel this kind of thing needs to be fixed. sometimes your "idea" of what the experaince was in the past is just wrong as you werent experianced enough to see the holes.
Im just about to buy the original game from ebay and play it for the first time in my life. I like very much the sandbox idea of the pre CU version, hopefully my brain will be able to understand the complexity of the game. Thanks for the video and greetings from Slovakia.
As someone who didn't get into SWG until the NGE era, up until the servers were shut down in 2011, I don't think I would be able to adjust to pre-CU Star Wars Galaxies.
Plus, JTL was my absolute favorite part of the game.
Being OCD as hell about numbers, I had killer mats, even stuff from Mustafar. They made for some amazing ship components.
Fuck, I miss that. The devs giving us atmospheric flight towards the end was just a amazing, and Hjal implemented the Lesser Used Chassis's Improvement. Ships like the B-Wing, Ixiyen, Kimogila, TIE Bomber, etc. were finally as combat effective as the more popular ships.
Plus, we got the T-Wing, TIE Defender, and the H-6, so Rebels and Freelancers finally had a 3-tube ship, and Imperials finally had a 3-Gun ship.
Wish some peeps would come over to the non wipe, extra content EMPIRE IN FLAMES server. It's so good

Yea, i tried Restro III but after deleting my first two characters, I was unable to create a new one as it said i needed to wait 15 minutes but after an entire day it still wouldn't let me create a character so I can't play it even if I wanted....they game won't allow me. So, I am looking forward to Finalizer out of default but after watching all your videos it has brought back so many memories and I really love the greater complexity of the pre-CU and the higher server population.
the issue i found with swgemu was it requires the disks, they point you to amazon or something to purchase copies. but even then its really hard to find a legit working copy. i went to Restoration 3 because it requires no disks. emu can rid that disk thing they just dont want to imo this also keeps the servers very low on populations

I miss the Precu days. It all ended for me when the CU came and i still have not played an MMO that i have enjoyed like SWG precu.
Fun fact: Kinshi and I ran SWGCanon for like 2 years around the 2010-2011 time period with player Jedi disabled and it was epic. We also had player housing in NPC cities. I ran Watto's junk shop for about a year. People could sell their junk at the vendor and get paid when I logged on to approve them with server admin funds. I've always felt SWGEmu should have fixed the original sin (words of Raph) of SWG and removed player Jedi. That take used to get me flamed on the forums which is where SWGCanon grew out of. It's interesting to see how the devs are now considering non-vanilla 14 changes. Rolling slots for instanced permadeath Jedi has always been the answer. 🤘
Would an Image Designer be viable? Not interested in becoming rich or anything just a class I’ve always wanted to try because being the Star Wars equivalent to a Hairdresser sounds fun.

Absolutely. They are absolutely necessary for Stat Migrations as well as many advanced cosmetic choices accessible only through the class. The only weakness I'd say as a long-time player is the lack of any sort of stats that help other classes hurts people's desire to build for it. Even Dancers and Musicians get Ranged and Melee Defense from being masters, so there is some combat benefit.
Used to be that you would see Image Designer/Tailors who focused on just making people look good.

I am playing it now. I am working on being a master commando and part bounty hunter. However, I am tempted to go the medic route and become a combat medic and doctor, and roleplay as a retired clone trooper medic who enhanced his skills to become a doctor. If not that a retired clone commando that becomes a bounty. Before the NGE, I was a combat medic and pistoleer. I was good at my job as a medic. So a part of me is wanting to go into the medical route again.
The population has definitely grown since this video came out. At least 1600 players at any given time.
As much as i have loved the Star Wars universe, ever since 1977 and the SWG game, it's still annoying that you do missions so you can pay for buffs so you can do missions to pay for buffs....add infinitum.
So, i went to the server called Empire In Flames and man, it's awesome. It's still Pre-CU but so much more logical in every which way. I will not go into details here, anyone who is curious can check it out.
What do you know about SWG Restoration 3? From what I read it is a CU version of the game that uses the pre-CU skill tree and no NGE professions. It also has Jump to Lightspeed and other DLCs.
No clue if you are still looking into resto since this is an older comment but it is basically what you describe they just don't have jedi yet but we should be getting them soon
I would say no simply bc the reddit downvoted me into hell for asking for help on fixing an audio issue because they just assumed I was too stupid to check if audio was disabled in the options. Which wasnt the issue.

I tried it earlier in the year thanks to ur videos but my laptop ran it really choppy. Its not the greatest laptop but runs SWTOR maxed out. Shame. I still wohld like to play it again.

too many alts definitely kill mmos but with the way skill points work in SWG i feel you need to be able to have one alt so you can have 1 crafter and 1 combat as many people like to experience both. There are soo many profession I dont see having one alt as being able to corner any market

the main issue for me is i love the content that NGE/legends has.. but i really hate the pre-made classes compared to the incredible choice you had pre-CU. its the reason i quit back in the day. and it continues to be a massive downgrade to the game. i wish we could have the best of both worlds. but oh well.
The best of both worlds would be lovely - but very difficult to pull off
@@napyet someone needs to convince the emu team that the server stagnated and nothing changed because there is no development. the emu server would be the best hands down if they took the same approach to new content as legends

I just wish Legends could add tares Kashi. That's the only real reason I'd join emu again
I think you can patch the combat animations in Legends can't you? Not the class itself but maybe worth it for the visual look
What server should i go if i want it like/similar to what it was in 2008? Prophecy shut down so need to find new server for my swg addiction. Anything but Legends!!!

Finalizer is a dead end gamed. Yes we all want to re-experience that launch feeling again but at that time we didnt know better and were just happy being in this SWG universe but eventually the lack of content will make you stop playing. Legends I think is probably the best version to play because of all the content and added content added by the team keeps players busy for a long long long time.
I love your videos. With said, pre c.u. had it's problems and good things. The economy being player based, first mmo. With housing and space. U had to work with people. The combat choices were better. 35 professions knocked down to 8 or 9. Doctor and entertainers buffs people payed for coz they had to work to do them. Remember everything made degraded. Everything made took several professions to make. When u take money from crafters game dies. People complaining about people soloing krayts calling it too easy look at other games. In wow. U could solo every dungeon once lol cap increased. They had to open dungeons up to cross servers just so people could get enough to do the higher ones. U could solo the entire game as a hunter back in the day. Pvp. Was bad because u just needed a mind weapon. Only fun in pop was taking over cities to your side. A game should never be just about pop. Massive multiple online role playing game. Working together to beat the game not just each other. Nge before it died did bring some professions back and new content but the damage was done. Some people say the way the brought jedi in killed it, coz no need for weapons or armor anyone. Once again killing the crafters income. The c.u. killed the economy and made u do a profession maybe u didn't like.

I would really advise all AGAINST SWG: Emu Finalizer, it is not immediately apparent, but once you get into the game you realize there are strong cliques and if you aren't apart of one, then you don't really get listened to. People exploit, pull you out of your house to kill you, clearly have multiple accounts when you should only have one, and many other issues. If you are a new player you are just basically going into their grinder."
I "safely logged out" the other day and logged in dead. Drastic issues happen from bugs and gameplay and they will not correct it if you are massively set back from them.
Yeah the few I’ve met on legends who came out of that server acted weirdly snooty and aggro. glad to confirm my suspicions

I despised EMU, it feels directionless, and while the hardcore's will swear up and down on how its a 'true gaming experience'... its brutality towards new players entering the game is exactly why SOE was forced to change the game to try to draw more new players in back when they did the Combat Upgrade and NGE. EMU might fill a niche gamer market, but it definitely won't appeal to the majority of gamers. Restoration 3 is a better version if you want the pre NGE experience.. or Prophecy for NGE.

The entire server is bots. Macroing ruined this game, not the NGE or SOE or anything else. The amount of automated gameplay is out of fucking control.
