I gotta say, the Al Unser Jr. one looks really smooth and has an impressive sense of speed. It's pretty awesome what the dev team managed to pull off on the old NES

My dad had Al Unser Jr.'s Turbo Racing and I've played it more than I care to admit. It was legit fun and the music was much better than it had any right to be, especially track C. I never see it mentioned anywhere so thanks for featuring it in a video!

I really enjoyed how well the information was presented. I learned much about a few games that I normally wouldn't care about, but it was still very interesting the whole while. Very good job.

A floating Nigel Mansell head has been visiting me every night in my sleep for the past few years, I had no idea who he was but now I know that it wants me to street race.

Somehow I’ve only ever played rad racer, which isn’t F1. I remember pole position in the arcades. Great video as always!

Danny Sullivan's Indy Heat is prob Rare's more underappreciated NES game. Cool music by David Wise too.

If we learned one thing, it's that NES Friend should be sponsored by Valvoline.

I had Mr. Andretti's World GP. It lodged in my brain because the Brazil background looked kinda like a dinosaur.
The L is for a learner's plate, something which we could use in the USA. It's equal to the beginner mark in Japan.

Imagine being an adult film actor and being so known for your bushy undergrowth that your Wikipedia page mentions the two times you got a Brazilian wax.

I imagine the 'L' in Nigel Mansell's game is for 'Learner'. England and Australia both make beginner drivers have an 'L plate' on the car when they drive to signify to other drivers that they are a learner.
...or it is Nigel calling you a loser for not having as glorious a moustache as him.

I remember the first time I played Al Unser Jr Turbo Racing, when I heard the intro music, I thought Robocop will show up and drive a car ( I was a huge fan of his crappy NES game). Great video as always, Trav, waiting for the second part.

I like when the cars go Vroom.
Smart move dividing this one up, but I can't wait for the sequel!

Never even heard of these racing games, so I'm glad you introduced them.
Personally, I grew up with *Formula One: Built to Win* and just remember constantly hitting up the casino so that I could drive home that Vector

The BEST NES game for racing is Formula One: Built To Win! This game deserves love (and is a legit "hidden gem" these days).

I never really cared for racing games on the NES but Al Unser's Turbo racing does look pretty good and fun.

I played Indy Heat on the Atari ST and it was good. I also played a game called Nigel Mansell's but it was not this one. The one shown here looks like it is using the Vroom engine, where the one I played was an older game 1987 or there abouts.
Turbo Racing looks really good even though I am not a fan of "turbo" acceleration in racing games.
    Thanks for the video.

But...I wanted to hear you ramble about seven F-1 racing games back to back to back.
Of these four I'd say Al Unser Jr. Turbo Racing is my favorite. It's a very fast racing game for the time and the campaign mode is fun with it's experience points upgrade system. The biggest flaw it has though is that it constantly makes a beeping sound when a car is behind you.

It's fun theres more Rad Racer type games, and I would have loved to have heard more. Great video as always

Hate to be that guy, but Indy Heat is based around IndyCar, not F1. Even though Michael Andretti and Al Unser Jr. were IndyCar drivers at the time, their games were localizations of F1 titles from Japan. Indy Heat is different; that was always IndyCar, and the tracks were all based around the IndyCar schedule.

Nice, I've been on the fence about picking up a racing game and this was a nice overview...
Except for Danny's. Played the crap out of it with my brother & neighbors, we used to hold down the poor A button so hard we eventually broke both of the rubber membranes underneath and we had to buy new controllers. Also I believe Danny is a cheater. Oh the rage. Danny Sullivan's Indy Heat, how I hate thee.

oof. seeing 'f1-built to win' go by the wayside cause it didn't have Danny Sullivan on it.. booooooo
I hope you visit it in the future, that game is great. it has so much content I bet it would be great as a solo episode.

To be honest, I'd have a go on any of these except for Michael Andretti's which looks like a shitty version of Super Monaco GP's port for Game Gear, and this one wasn't the greatest racing game itself either
